Hi guys, having some issues with The Iron Bull at Skyhold. Every time i go to talk with him I have no conversation options (only to end the convo). Everyone else gives me something but nothing with The Bull. I've tried going and completing a few more quests but still nothing. Not sure if this is a glitch or (more likely) I'm missing something. Any help would be great.

Trying boosting his approval by taking him to fight, specifically two types of enemies: you want the small groups of Venatori, usually a mage plus two gladiators, that like to roam about the Forbidden Oasis in particular -- every time you kill a group of three like that, you get a "slightly approves". (Curiously, using Iron Bull to defeat Venatori as part of quests, such as Griffon Wing Keep, nets you no apparent approval change.) And they respawn like mad, so go crazy. Also, if you're ready, the dragons -- the first one got me "greatly approves," the next just "approves". Keep in mind that Bull must be in your party for this approval to happen. And I think it's only the big ones that do it, though, not the dragonlings.

 

Finally, bug Krem for war table ops that the Chargers can take care of. (They run just like basic ops, but the descriptions mention sending the Chargers.) Just keep asking him what the Chargers can do, and he'll give you a few ideas that open the ops on the table. Iron Bull's approval should go up for each one of those you complete.

 

Between the Venatori, dragons, and Chargers ops, you should manage to get enough that you'll get a cutscene in which you meet the Chargers. You can improve his approval with some dialogue there. You'll also get a cutscene after you kill your first dragon with him, and you'll gain approval for each drink you take (plus drunk!Quizzy is kind of funny).

Thanks heaps! Have managed to get one quesr off Krem so I'll just keep going back. I'm lvl 11 and got creamed by the Hinterlands dragon, so I guess I'm going Venatori hunting!!

Yeah, the Venatori are definitely easier. And they multiply like rabbits in the Western Approach, too. You can identify them before you can see them by the mage's Latin chanting. (At least, I'm assuming that's their attempt at Latin. I couldn't actually make out any Latin words, though.)

 

Do keep checking back with Krem. He had two or three for me the first time I asked, and then another popped up after a main quest (Here Lies the Abyss, perhaps?), although that may have been the first time I checked after doing Demands of the Qun (taking the only path that will allow Krem to continue giving quests, of course ).

Huuuh..I've been killing venetori and not getting the friendship boost. I'm probably just killing quest ones by accident but are there any other suggestions (other than dragon fighting, not quuuiet there yet. I also don't seem to be getting any improved friendship from the quests Krem has been giving me.)

Nevermind, finally got his affection high enough with some judging. He liked me executing a magister myself and sending a crazy goatman to fight tevinter.

Glad to hear you got it worked out eventually!

 

I don't think I ran into any issues by having to wait for my first dragon to get his approval high enough for the "meet the Chargers" cutscene. And I do constantly worry about things like that, but as far as I can tell from the guide I didn't miss any of his quests.

 

Meanwhile, I can add that Krem seems to give a new war table mission after almost every major main quest, not just HLtA. So definitely keep checking back with him even if Iron Bull isn't feeling particularly talkative at the moment.
