BioWare, start adding storage as default in your games. Raging about storage is the last thing I expected to do in an RPG.

I'm heading back to Skyrim for the time being. I have this sudden urge to play a game with much better design mechanics that makes me feel comfortable when experiencing what it has to offer.

I went browsing through the forums to find something about this and what I found is disappointing.

I really hoped for a storage chest somewhere in game. I really enjoy the game but I really don't want to get rid of all the unique gear I collect along the way but it looks like my only option is to sell it.

I really hope that they'll implent a storage chest soon, it should've been implented from the beginning though. :/

No chest and no auto attack are two of the reasons I didn't buy the game at launch. I'll be waiting...

This. We need a storage chest. I've already had it twice say to me that I've reached max capacity when I try to pick up loot. Had to destroy things to make room since I was nowhere near a merchant to sell things to. Awakening and DA2 had storage chests by default and even Origins had one if you had the Warden's Keep DLC.

You would think after all the complaining in DAO about the lack of a storage chest they would have learned their lesson, apparently not.  At least in DAO fans could fix their crappy game design choices with a mod until Bioware got on board in Awakening.

There probably aren't enough people left from the DA:O days at Bioware for anyone to remember what people complained about.

Yes, quest-ish items are stored in the "valuables" section, and get sold along with all the other items in that category. Most of these items are used for research and requisitions. Its an awful design, but any item in your "valuables" inventory category which has a gold background/border is an item used in research, or requisitions, or some other side quest.

...who thought that was a good idea?

>_<

People from the DAO days had modding tools that allowed a good number of storage solutions.

Now it's worse.

I find it really odd that there is no storage chest. We had it in Awakening and DA2, so why not in DAI?

Cause..DLC.

Yes please, I really hope this is something they're working on.  Not sure why it wouldn't have been an option in the first place.  Considering how much loot we get throughout the game, and some of it obviously meant for fun, like the Wedge of Destiny, it just makes sense to have a place to put that stuff.

Please may we have a storage chest? It'd be a shame to waste all that floor space in Skyhold. I bet there's room for one tiny chest.

Agreed. Especially when I want to save specific resistance equipment for specific fights. Eventually you're gonna start running out of room.

More likely they ran out of time and shoehorned one of the worst inventory management mechanics that I have experienced in a role playing game.

It seems like you should at least be able to dump your stuff on the floor of your castle, a la Skyrim.

Signed. Need a storage chest. Makes no sense lugging heavy Armour and gear all over Thedas.

It's really stupid how they give you this huge open world to explore, littered with all kinds of collectables, crafting materials and rare items and a nice big Keep but you can't have a single chest to store anything.

Seriously, how do they miss this? The game is generally real good but you have some absolutely bone headed oversights that I just cannot imagine how they weren't acted on while the game was still in development.

What makes the lack of a storage chest especially annoying is that on PC at least the inventory UI is terrible. So now I have to spend even more time in that dreadful menu system just to manage my inventory when just having a crafting reagent chest would do wonders.

I remember this was also the case with Origins but a cool developer just released a mod he made to add it in the PC version. Alas, with no mod support for DA:I we're stuck.

I'd like one for all the crafting materials, so I can dump it all by the forge and then access it when crafting new weapons or potions.

This, or just alter the settings so that crafting materials do not count against your total inventory.

The alternative - forgoing crafting supplies entirely until they become relevant (and given just how much crafting there is in the game, this is unfeasible), would require the player to dedicate time to component farming instead of picking them up in passing during a quest.

Another "yes, please" and "they should have known this feature is a must" from me. Tightly restricted inventory space and big, quasi-open games do not mix. Tightly restricted inventory space and crafting/upgrading do not mix. Come on Bioware, you've been in this business for a long time, you know that gamers are hoarders.

(Armor stands and weapon racks would be sweet, too.)

As i said  at begining of this page the devs have noticed all the fans asking for storage chests but at the moment there focuse is on patches for bugs they allso said it may be added after a few maine patches it allso may not the dev doesent know yet. But it most likely will in DA origins storage chest came in a dlc and DA2 it was in start of game in gamlins house and then yours.

So they may bring it with a DLC or in a latter patch affter some of the maine bug fixing patches.

Bone headed oversights. That sums it up. I think the franchise needs fresh minds able to implement game mechanics that makes players feel comfortable when playing. The story and character interactions once again make for a great experience that are, once again, marred with oversights and the really stupid absence of storage in a massive world.

That or at least make the valuable space free like crafting materials.

That isn't like healing where it's part of a greater combat design, that's a plain oversight.
