So far the major villains of the series have been Uthmeil, Meredith, and The Elder One. Uthmeil was an Old God, one of the most powerful in Thedas. The Elder One was a follower of the Old Gods, and as a result also tied to them. In Dragon Age Legacy there was a Quest that required appeasing An Old God at his alter despite being killed centuries ago. Another thing is in Awakening there were weapons made from the bones of an Old God as well. All of these have one thing in common an Old God, most specifically Dumat. As the strongest Old God Dumat had reigned supreme as the leader of the first blight and had his claws in the situation with Corypehus. Dumat was also the Old God that taught Blood Magic to humans and allowed them to gain greater power. Finally with regards to being killed in the first blight, i offer 2 possible ways that this could be usurped... the altar in Legacy could have been a rebirth opportunity for Dumat much as it was for Flemeth. Another chance would be the Dark Ritual child, Keiran who possesses the soul of an Old God, Uthmeil. Is this the first time that Flemeth used that ritual and if not, could this child be a vessel for Dumat to return?

I personally don't think so, i reckon whatever made the blight would be the ultimate villain if it was something done intentionally, if anything dumat ended up a victim of the blight. Also Corytheus had implied that golden city was already blackened.

Also by the end of Inquisition, we see that Flemeth wants Urthemiel. She is indeed the woman Flemeth, who is in possession of the soul of Mythal, the elven goddess of justice. Thus, Flemeth was not around at the time of the first Blight. Fen'Harel also seems interested in collecting the souls of the gods, as well as ancient elven magic.

At this point, it is almost impossible for Dumat to have survived. I think that Fen'Harel is going to be the big baddie in the next game, if not the rest of the series. He unleashed Corypheus upon the world with the elven artifact, and it appears as though he has gotten rid of Mythal. Fen'Harel seems the most likely candidate as of now, not Dumat.

I am curious how the Old God's fit into the world now though. We know for a fact that the Creators not only exist, but some are still running around. We also know that Urthemiel possessed some kind of divine soul. We also know that Tevinter built their entire empire upon the ruins of Arlathan. Could the Old God's just be some pissed off Creators that were given new names by humans? They could have pulled a Rome and Greece ;)

These "Super" Demons\Gods\Spirits... might vary in power, but all the same to me.

They have fallen from god status to measly scheming shadows in the background of thedas.

I say just end them!

:P

Bah i cannot understand ........ to me  the gods of the elven phanteon vs the dread wolf who betray them and destroy already 4 of them, the archedemons.

But as Gaider said the elven gods are not creators the golden city dont belong  to them.

so my point is  WHERE IS THe MAKER!

Anything is possible, but a mere Old God wouldn't be a very surprising or powerful ultimate villain. The Archdemons aren't that strong. Dumat, in particular, has already been killed twice. Once for his blood, then second for his defeat.

If we want something impressive, we need something new.

He does not exist. The inquisitor is not a herald of Andraste but a mistake created by the Elder One.

Um correction. We don't know if it was Dumat that teached bloodmagic, there is more evidence that it was the Forbidden Ones that did it more then Dumat.

I doubt he will be the big baddie of a new game unless we play as the Inquisitor again. It would make no sense for some new character to deal with the Dread Wolf when he has a massive connection to the Inquisition and Inquisitor. If anything it will be dlc or an expansion.

More like the Maker's opposite! Remember, The Maker=God and the Maker's opposite or archnemesis=Satan. So the Old Gods might just be pawns of the Devil of the series, assuming that there is one.
