I think the outfit is fine, being able to change the color would be nice

I want a nice colored tailed coat to go over the clothes.

Some seem to say we have romance to blame. How armors would clip and junk like that. I sure hope that isn't the case. Besides that in no way excuses the lack of options.
An inquisitor should look intimidating, especially when he's making a show of force in the war room or on the throne.

The worst thing is Vivienne even comments on how your clothes are inadequate for your station and promises to take you to Val Royaux to pick out something better. You can agree that it's important to look your position. And they do diddly squat with that.

The female elf is not in any way better in that sad prison style pijama. She already have a body type that she seem one step (maybe) from anorexia, in that thing with all those buttons and the stupid "feminine" walk that make her back have a serpentine movemant, I have always this image in my head.

Sigh. I and many other spend a lot of time creating our armour, can't we just decide to keep it on in Skyhold? or at least have the chance to put on one of the mage dresse, even if we are not one.
We have so many way to make our character personal, but when she/he is in the most intimate and personal time (at home and with her friends) she/he have to dress like someone that just ecaped from jail. Really sad and disappointing.

I consider myself lucky that I opted for a boring ol' human character. I was originally going to play a qunari, had cold feet at launch, and thank god for that. The thought of a Qunari doomed to those clothes is unbareable.

When I craft an outfit I'd like to see it on my character right away, but can't because I'm still wearing my pjs.

I've been looking at pictures...
Seriously. Thank the maker I opted for a human male character. I thought I was getting short-changed... yet its the only one that wears it of a modicum of flair. For a PJ.
I ask again:
What were you thinking, bioware?

In their defense they said they wanted to but they ran out of time. I think we can easily expect a dresser of sorts with multiple outfits in the future.
And given how they made the UI I don't like coming to their defense, please don't make do it again.

I've been reading some tweets from Mike Laidlaw and I feel completely hopeless now. He's going on about how if it had been "very easy" they would have done it. This is ignorant PR bs. I may not be a professional game designer, but I have two decades of modding behind my belt and I can say with enough certainty that this IS something very easy. Clearly, by very easy, he means no work at all. Yes, you do require some extra ui work, yes you would require your artists to design and weight the new clothes models. But do not tell me it wasn't an easy thing to add. You just refuse to devote even a minimum of ressources to this. Because the player looking good just doesn't matter to you. So long has Varric's got his chest hair and Cullen his fur-lined armor, who possibly cares what the Inquisitor looks like?
The crazy thing is, this should be a non-issue. Casual clothing in the Keep should never have been a thing. The very events that lead you to Skyhold should have taught you and the rest of the inquistion a lesson. Always be ready. Just allow us to wear our armor. Allow us to be the military leader we are meant to be. There is no excuse for that. If romance/player-npc proximity was an issue, there were design alternatives.
Then you consider that it doesn't take a fashion genius to tell that the current cusual clothes are horrendous.
Above all else, stop talking down to your customers and treating them like sh*t.

While I'm on board to say that adding more casual clothes probably wouldn't be a huge issue (some of the Rogue inquisitor's outfits look downright amazing) where are you getting the messages from Mike?

Nah, I'm not. I've been coming to bioware forums since Neverwinter Nights. I just changed aliases at some point in early Dragon Age / Mass Effect days.
It wasn't really a surprise. Simply a statement.

I still say BioWare needs to hire a fashion and design consultant. Because really? Between the hideous DA2 outfits, this monstrosity of a pyjama set, and the strange hair choices? ... It's just not acceptable. Especially when so many of the armour choices are incredibly lovely.

I'm pretty okay with it on my male human... though the boots don't fit the rest of the outfit IMO.

On a positive note, that would be a fun idea for a (preferably free) DLC: the "Val Royeaux Shopping Trip", where you can buy some cool around-the-house armor, a storage chest, a mirror of transformation, and a dog.
