I didn't know there was supposed to be armor sounds.. that would be cool to hear. I've avoided youtube as I'm still in my first play-through or I'd see if I could give something a watch. Then again, that would really tell me how much I'm missing and would make it even worse.

I get music in inns, subtitles for the songs but no actual singing. So it's like karaoke night ;)

Also - are we supposed to be getting the interactive banter they talked about? Where we could actually join in at some points? I haven't seen hide nor hair of anything like that.

Nice job on the OP, Mr. Jeff :)

Well, I had three banters in 20 minutes out of the blue, post-patch, nothing since over 3 hours later.

Holy crap, they addressed what we should be hearing and that changes are on the way. Wooooooooo! Thank you BioWare! I'm glad to hear my music isn't actually bugged.

So Emerald Graves is a great place for my party to hang out and banter.. I played for a bit... Discovered they were chatty and have just left the, alone for the last 2 hours. It feels great to "catch up" on the banter.

To help facilitate good banter here are the blood magic rituals I am using.

1. Minimal saves in game - move old ones out to a desktop folder each day
2. Keep codex, journal, inventory etc clear and up to date.
3. I fast travel as I please and as I hate the war drums killing the mood in skyhold I visit the war room first then head back to skyhold so they clear and I can go about my business in peace
4. Exit skyhold via war table or undercroft
5. STOPPED using Tactical camera
6. Kill **** all the time so I can ensure that the combat dialogue is still functioning. Lots o'hunting. Once the combat dialogue disappears I have to clear **** or there will not be any more chat.
7. Use tents to "clear" while in a quest. rest until I hear the music go hunt something to confirm I have combat dialogue. Repeat as necessary. Go find a rift or other big bad enemy if that just won't work.
8. Quests marked inactive all the time. Not using the journal quest marker at all. More free form traveling less map checking. Pinging. Etc.
9. Western approach still is quiet without music or banter but everywhere else is working well with enough banter for me to feel satisfied with party interaction. However I still haven't had an interactive.

Overall these may be completely unnecessary maneuvers but I feel like my experience has improved with a greater number of banters and in the end that is all that matters.

Good luck to you all. I look forward to the continued discussions on what works while we wait for a "patch"

The save issue is bizarre; or, more aptly, a part of it is—but of course that might just be cargo-culted behavior that happens to work.

I could see that something in the quick save mechanic could corrupt the game state (although why it would and a manual save or autosave not, is curious).

However, the existence of a number of saves affecting anything would be a very strange bug indeed. Essentially at any given time, only one save should be active, so to speak, and the rest are just ones and zeroes on disk.

Using the workarounds provided on my 360, my music/banter seems pretty normally paced now.

BUT one thing that troubles me is that I have NEVER heard combat dialogue. Like, I hear battle grunts, but no "heal me please!" or "madame fancy pants is down!" or anything. And sometimes spell casting in tactical can screw up audio, but it doesn't bother me as much as potentially missing out on character dialogue.

Could you please give an example of combat dialogues ? I'm not sure I have any, except for the ones during plot missions. Apart from that I just hear i.e. EAT DIRT! after combat ( which is awesome, BTW :D)

has anyone noticed any improvement regarding the party banter after the patches?

Oh, damnit, as far as I can see, the patch has taken away what banter I was getting - I think even the ambient chatter is gone? (Who would have thought I'd miss the party's weather updates...) Played for about four hours, and no one will trigger any banter. Even areas where I get banter with more frequency = nothing. The music is working fine, and I think the combat soundsets are there for the most part. Journal isn't even helping anymore. I even tried to keep away from combat or any NPC triggers after awhile, but nothing.

Kicking myself for downloading the patch - I mean, I can delete it, but that means I also delete the patch the fixed the PS4 problems in the first place. Damn. It could all be coincidental, but I went from banter every thirty minutes pre-patch, to 4hrs+ silence today. Argh, this is exhausting!

An update from me.

The patch seemed to bump something loose with my banter. It now seems to be working. I heard banter for the first time ever in the western approach. It still is kind of rare there, but I was at like 80 hours in and had never heard it there before.

I'm now getting banter for all companions, even cole and Viv who were silent before. In good areas like the storm coast I hear it about every 20-30 minutes.

I still only get combat music during SOME dragon fights and no other times. I know they said nug fights don't have music, but what about random encounters with, say, red templars? Should those have music? I have no idea.

I still never hear any battle shouts outside of weapons and grunts (nothing like "if we kill them we get their stuff") and I'm not even completely clear on if battle shouts ate supposed to be in the game.

Even if it isn't bugged, they said in the blog that they'll be making banner more frequent in the next patch. So don't worry guys. It'll hopefully be fixed regardless.

No music over than the 30 seconds or so intros you get on occassion unless it's scripted to be there. So yours is working as intended.

Battle shouts are likely bugged though.

I've noticed improvement in multiplayer banter.
Also getting more banters I haven't heard before from Varric in Hinterlands.

Yes, big improvement at my side. I didn't know that some npcs has short stories and some sentences besides: "yes, u are right. Oh, really? "
I just heard for the 1. Time that some girls rode the Bull many times over the night and now she walks funny. Or a guy in Redcliffe possibly manifesting his ability for magic. These are little stuffs but in my previous 2 games were not present. Possibly could not finish the conversation before. Now yes, and got 3 interactive banter in a day:))))

Occassianally Sera will say something like "Bits up face down !" or Cassandra will say "Maker take you"

Stuff like that. Pretty much like every other DA game.

My banter bug is weird. I've had their combat speech all along, just never their combat music, and a lack of banter.

Also, what IS Sera saying? Because it always sounds like "****** up face down!"

That sounds like what happened to me regularly pre-patch.

I think I'll just stop playing until this is addressed.

The banter bug is more or less the same as far as I can tell. Banter is so sporadic or just utterly random. I sat around in the Emerald whatever for a while, with Sera, Cassandra, and Blackwall, no word out of them. Switched to Cole, Dorian, and Varric and got an instant banter out of them but nothing after.

'****** up face down' I think.

Edit: Uh, well, possibly it IS what you wrote... Since what I wrote got censored also. A slang term for breasts. '****** up' means 'gone wrong' so it's sort of a pun - She's describing knocking her foes on their face but also punning off the other meaning of the phrase.

Pretty much just the stuff other people have mentioned. The repetative one liners at the end of combat or hunting mostly. But there are Requests for assistance if someone is getting creamed "helped Dorian" or "save the Herald" ""I'm getting slaughtered over here"

Lol I've actually had Bull suggest retreat from a bear when he went and picked a fight I wasn't prepared for.

Well I found out where the Val Royeaux music went to in my game: The Emerald Graves. Odd tune to here in the middle of the woods.
