I'm on PS4 normal edition. Game works fine, very few glitches, just very quiet... you know when you bring IB, Varric and Sera with you, there should be lots of talking going on. :D

And yeah, sometimes in conversation everything pauses and I have to press 'skip' and miss some stuff just to get through. It's a rare occurrence, but it's there.

I'm on PC with the deluxe edition, and my friend on PS3 has the deluxe edition as well, she's also reporting this bug. Anybody without the deluxe edition getting the bug?

I just tried playing for a bit, went through the Hissing Wastes. I thought I was cured! but after two banters they all shut up again (Dorian, Bull, and Cole). How often are we supposed to be experiencing banter? Because that would make it easier to determine how wrong everything is going.

So how is it meant to work? What actually triggers the banter in the first place? Is it just on a timer?

Unless the system changed (which I am skeptical), in the past I would get plenty of banter just by standing still.

I have some cleaning to do (post-launch responsibility) at home, so what I'll likely do is have my party sit idle in a camp while I tidy up my home, and make note of banters that occur.

I am playing this on my girlfriends console and I am experiencing this bug among others. She has a 360 and the party banter either works or it does not.

Another bug we are experiencing is audio dialogue skipping when talking to party members or npcs while at Haven.

Another issue not sure if it is a bug is unlike the previous Dragon Age installments when you would speak to someone be they an NPC or a party member you would always get a close up of their face and the face of the player character. Now this only happens once for each character a special introductory cutscene in Haven after you first recruit them.

I'm not sure if that is intentional but it's a major drawback from when you could always speak to a character and always see their facial expressions and what not.

We've had reports from players without the Deluxe version running into it, good thought though.

I really wish I could give you a running average re: banter norm, but the folks who have dropped by our thread and mentioned that banter is quite common and happens quickly and such... well, they don't really have much reason to stick around, so I haven't been able to pick their brains for stats.

I think it might be prudent for a number of us to reach out to other threads and ask around. From the vid I watched (wish I could remember what it was) and the comments I've seen from people in other threads (including one in Story & Campaign in which players were all posting their favorite banter moments) the answer is "certainly more often than most of us are experiencing."

Based on their satisfaction as well as more than a few posts I've seen whereby people actually say they love that there's more banter here than in past games (!!) my current guess is... every few minutes, maybe?

Well, Cass/Dorian/Solas have been standing idly for two hours now, by the way. Nary a peep.

I love you, Dorian. But you are so, so glitched.

That is a pretty long time and I'll pass this info along.

Gratzi.

It's honestly (read: tragically) pretty common for me -- and apparently some other folks too. >_< Not necessarily Dorian specifically, of course... can't make it simple like that. But it happens to me often with other party lineups too, I've just noted certain characters who NEVER chat.

It's funny, I haven't progressed the main story at all for two of three days now because I've become too obsessed with wanting to hear banter. At least I'm getting the side-quests out of the way, I suppose.

Heh heh, I know, right? I haven't even done many of those. I do a few, to add to my sampling of different possible triggers and such, but I've just sort of lost the will to keep playing in earnest for the time being.

I'm reasonably certain the odds are fairly slim doing another main story mission will resolve the matter for me since I've been charting my issues pretty much all game.

Just hopping into the inventory menu etc fixes that though. But it is another thing worth noting. I've also had the dialogue freeze at times. And I lack music quite  alot of the time too. So there are definitely a lot of glitches occurring here, whether they are all linked is another matter entirely...

For the record: I am PS4 Deluxe digital edition. Imported from Keep.

For what it's worth, the issue seems to have caught the attention of another Bioware dev (in addition to Allan, Mark, David, etc). Bryan Johnson, of the QA team, responded on a reddit thread on the matter here.

Well, if I remember correctly, you're quite a ways ahead of me I think?

It's true that I have been triggering more banter since Skyhold, but it still feels very quiet.. and odd. Two banters within minutes and then nothing? It's so inconsistent, it's annoying.

Two banters within minutes... I would auction a pinky to see that just once. :P

Nah, I'm right around where you are, in fact. I haven't started a main mission since Skyhold's acquisition. I began championing this cause not long afterward.

I've never experienced it in several hours of testing there but back in the early days of this being reported (he says as if the game is even a week old) a few of the well-meaning folks whose files are not screwed up and hadn't realized this is in fact a glitch for some of us recommended to me that I take my party there, because "there's a lot of banter at Val Royeux."

Sooo, it exists, somewhere. Over the rainbow.

I get this as well. Sounds also are delayed such as opening a door and the noise only triggers a couple seconds later. Anyways I did a bit of testing on PS4 I played for around three hours and here's the results

Forbidden Oasis - Cassanrda, Sera, Vivienne - 1 banter between Cass and Sera

Val Royeaux - Iron Bull, Blackwall, Solas - Nothing

Storm Coast - Iron Bull, Sera, Varric - 1 banter between Sera and Iron Bull

Welp, I never had any party banter outside of a few things said by Solas at the beginning (switched out my party multiple times and fast traveled a lot to make sure) and no combat dialogue so I tried Origin repair and it didn't work. Hopefully reinstalling helps but there's no way to test this as a player without fast-tracking to Hinterlands and waiting around which I'm frankly ****** sick of.

Just as a note, my "looking at it" is more on my own time to help collect information, but other people are also aware of it and will spend more time on it during their working hours, so to speak!  (During the work day I have other stuff that I have to do, but I am usually able to talk and help collect information).

(Lest I get misattributed as the saviour of banters!)

Understood.  Still, I think we should get more information about what/how/why from Bioware, if not you specifically.
