So we are actively missing on precisely 171.92 minutes of banter dialogue. Good job everyone.

Oh jesus. When you put it like that, now I feel even worse... ><

And btw, I don't think the channel has finished uploading, since I see no 3-way banters. *sob*

Is Bioware planning on patching this? Or are we just up a creek?

Holy Andraste, just saw the video link and I am speechless (like my stupid companions).
It's like playing a partial version of the game.

I just hope bioware is taking this problem seriously. Looking back at some reviews with this bug in hindsight, it is obvious that it has cost da:i several metacritic points.

Went through my journal and cleared out every quest and codex, tried turning off connections to origins, turning them back on after the journal was cleared, being online/offline, etc. Nothing. I've been playing for probably two hours and I've gotten one ambient comment from Dorian on sand, and nothing else. :\

Honestly, I read Allan's response to my earlier comment, and I really want to have faith that Bioware is going to do something about this ASAP, but without any official response past, "We're looking into it." It's kind of hard to keep my spirits up.

True. There's probably going to be at least another 30 mins of dialogue gone.

can't believe an issue as minor as this is getting this kind of exposure and focus from an employee himself, odd to say the least

Almost three hours of dialogues lost in the fade. This is just... I don't even know what to say.

Incompetence may be the word. From a technical perspective, this is the worst Bioware game ever.

It is under investigation. More than that we don't know.

Guys, I have banter!!!
And music after 70 hours silence. I did what above poster suggested, turned everything down connected to online AND cleaned my journal and codex log! Got the double drum for finishing earlier quests and got a huge update on my codex because of that. Then I checked all journal and codex log to be sure all showed no new one.

Right away got music , banter for most places. Will check if everywhere is ok or not and how long it lasts.

uh, dang. that's wild, i think this might be working for me. i did all that, quit, reloaded, and i'm puttering around the hinterlands right now where i have music AND cole and bull bantered within a few minutes. to recap, i'm on ps3, physical deluxe version. i've just been attacked by a bear so i have no further data right now, but fingers crossed!!

It’s BioWare communications as usual, nonexistent. They’re working on it, I’m sure, but it’s of course vexing to just have to wait.

Edit: Mark Darrah just said “There are random aspects. Some is perception. We are still investigating. ”

And yeah, after (not) watching that I think I’m gonna put Evelyn on hold and start with a new character, see if things are any better.

I've thrown in the towel. I don't want to finish my playthrough without the complete game. I want the entire experience in my first playthrough so I can truly enjoy it. I purchased and read all of the novels and graphic novels leading up to this so I could have a complete experience, and this is barring it. I've spent last night and today spam refreshing this thread, grasping at straws, and trying everything. Now I'm just defeated.... and sad, very sad.

Three hours of dialogue AND content, as far as I'm concerned. We're missing a big portion of the game.

Incompetence may be the word.

I was trying to keep an all-aroung positive attitude, but after seeing this I can't hide my disappointment anymore.

Yesterday I said that calling this bug "almost game-breaking" was an overstatement. Well... I take it back.

Honestly, I don't know.

I hope that there will be something from them that will fix it even if it means abandoning my current character.  It's weird, I've been looking forward to playing DAI for years...stupidly and completely out of all proportion looking forward to it.  I don't care about having to use a controller instead of a mouse and keyboard (which is how I assumed I'd play) and we spent thousands making sure that my PC was up to the task of playing the game perfectly.

However with this bug the reality is I just feel disheartened about it all.  I feel like I'm plodding through and not enjoying myself except when I'm doing story quests but I'm a terrible completionist and I want to collect every herb and mine every piece of ore and do all the sidequests.  It's almost like playing Skyrim but with the expectation that Skyrim would be full of lively conversation from people I cared about.  The truth is I don't, I don't even feel like they have any relationship to each other or are part of group.  They are just rather beautiful looking pixel art.

Anyway, I suppose there's no point in carrying on but I kind of wanted to say that I feel disappointed, just to have said it I guess.   :(

A lot of people play bioware games for the story, worldbuilding and characters. It is a serious problem because it affects a significant part of those games fanbase. For pure open world gameplay gameplay or rpg combat there are other (probably better) games out there. That bug hurts what make dragon age games different from the rest.
I am not saying other complaints about gameplay issues are not valid too (i too am infurited by the way tac view and pc controls were handled), but that bug is hardly insignificant for part of the game audience.

I like to give the devs the benefit of the doubt, but...sigh.

Perception would be "Oh I feel like I haven't gotten banter in a while" versus people actually marking down how often they get it.

Do I need to record myself running around Val Royeaux in complete silence for 3 hours as proof? Cause I'd totally do it for this to get fixed. Haha.

After my wife and I spent yesterday switching between our games for most of the day, I have noticed that party banter in both our games occurs predominately at the beginning or end of combat (at least 70-80% of the banter in both our games occurs this way). Considering neither of us have any sort of combat call outs/combat dialogue (killing blows, low health, etc)/or victory lines I feel the two issues may be linked (perhaps the wto interfere with one another or are inappropriately occurring in place of the other). Has anyone else noted if they have banter most frequently happening around combat?

After listening to only a few minutes on DanaDuchy's channel, I'm just heartbroken. I happened to play a particular companion quest today and it didn't have anything like the impact it should have, because I knew hardly anything of the character in question. I really think it's past time for an update from BioWare. I am gonna lose it if they tell me I'm imagining it.

Ok, so i`ve run around some more(with the quest/codex/online stuff), in different areas - banter has stopped again. Still, no music in Val R. or Skyhold or combat music.

Again, it makes the banter work, for awhile, and it stops.

I`m frustrated. And sad. Especially after reading how much exactly did we miss.

But it would be nice, if you guys don`t get too angry at Bioware. The game is massive, and coding is not an easy thing by any means, there are always bugs in software. Always were, always will be. It took us so long to realize this issue, with thousands? of people. They don`t have that amount of testers.

I do wish they`d said something to us, though. But they probably can`t say stuff until it`s "official" and "approved".

"Some is perception"??

I don't know, I feel incredibly defeated right now. New character, haven't had banter in six hours of exploration because I just got tired of always messing around with stuff and then obsessing over whether it not it would give me banter...so I'm dealing with the silence because it's less stressful. But I am not "misperceiving" deafening silence.

...I know I'm taking that comment too personally but after spending hours and hours testing this and desperately wanting banter, I'm just glad Allan has been so accommodating and kind here, else id feel pretty ignored.

If you look at what Mark Darrah said, it looks like their official stance is that we are imagining it, just to avoid actually repairing the problem. Can't say I'm surprised.

tried this account-setting and clearing codex-entries and journal-thingy, saved, closed game, reopened, fast travelled to the hissing wastes and just ran around from camp to camp and back again.

Results: 3 banters (Iron Bull-Dorian, Dorian-Blackwall, Blackwall-Iron Bull), 2 comments on the environment in about 30-40minutes, the first two fired relatively fast, the last one took some time.

Will change from hissing wastes to some other area now. Really, i won't play any further until this is fixed, or even start all over with the same char -_-.

Yeah, it's definitely just 'perception' when we have people in this thread who have 60 hour games with no banter... :/
