Oh, I thought I hadn't submitted my most recent post here as I added more to it. Weird. My phone is weird. Anyway, I edited it with a few more paragraphs, haha.

I don't think that follows necessarily.

We know for a fact that Allan was looking into things for us.  We also know some other developers (who's names I have forgotten - sorry) mentioned that they would follow up.  Isn't Mark Darrah rather important in the scheme of things for Dragon Age?  Would he really be informed of the minutiae of possible bugs people are having?  I wouldn't add two and two together here.  I'm sure that the people with responsibility for fixing things will be well informed about the issues being reported.   :)

@JeffZero Thanks for being the link between people on this forum and the devs though, communicating these things would make me lose patience real quick. Better to be positive though it makes all of us really sad and some really pissed off, maybe they'll have the root written down soon and the patch then ever sooner!

I couldn't find my post so retype for anyone who missed it.

I have banter and music. After 70 hours for the first time.

I went into journal and codex and reread every single note from there. I got a lot of quest finished note again. Then under account unticked everything so no online connection whatsoever.

As of now after 3 hours still have MUSIC and BANTER.

Try it, might help.

Maybe the first patch is going to fix the banter problems indirectly. This glitch could be correlated to other ones in the game and

from what I gathered reading shinobi602' s posts on NeoGAF, there are supposed to be a ton of fixes in it.

*sigh*

Ok, that's interesting because I had something similar happen to me.  When I was in the Hinterlands, I had a stack of quests I'd finished that I had still marked as active.  When I went to the journal and turned them off, I got a stack of completed quest notifications and I had some banter soon afterwards.  I was also resting and horse thinging, so I attributed the banter to the rest.  You could be onto something.  I'll go and look at my really silent game from yesterday and see if it's filled with journal markers.   :)

yes, same. when i check the completed quests in the journal, some of them fire off as completed again as i said in my testing post. i would suggest trying to clear the markers from all the new and completed quests in the journal, as doing so gave me 5 banters in 45 minutes, which is wildly better than anything i had before. going to do some more testing soon.

Agreed! JeffZero's active involvement really helps make sure it's not just people, um, shouting into the wind? Or something.

I usually take on a passive/lurker role in stuff like, this but seeing how calm and rational people were (and still are!) being about it all made me want to help find a solution.

The reality is that the devs (other than Allan) might not consider it an issue, and there might never be a solution. We just have to be patient.

I tested the game without the online settings and with the journal trick. It resulted in banter every thirteen and music every three minutes for an hour. I will try it again for a longer time at the weekend.

I started a new thread connected to this and the codex. Can u destroy all elfroot in your inventory and check in completed quests under skyhold if the upgrade materials are missing elfroot or not?
Mine is missing it means none the completed quests lock down after finishing them.
EVERY time u run out of elfroot it becomes an ongoing quest. Pls check it.

If any devs think that a reduced lack of banter and no music at all in some areas where its supposed to be isn't an issue, then they probably need to think about a different career. I don't think thats the case here though. They're obviously looking into it and taking it seriously.

Haha, thanks for the... thanks, everyone. The truth is, though, everyone here who has logged play time, tweaked settings, made suggestions, helped new reporters get caught up to speed, or even simply reported the bug and then moved on... every one of you is worth thanking. So pat yourselves on the back, because regardless of who sees it and who doesn't see it, we've all proven our love for BioWare's best trait -- its ability to make us care.

We can absolutely link this thread to Mark. Anyone who wishes to do so, by all means, just keep it cordial and try to explain to him a bit about the possible correlations we've found. Myself, I'll pass on linking him; it would be best, I think, if it weren't just my avatar he kept seeing regarding an issue spread across many files indeed.

Now this is something very strange that happened to me today and is (I hope) still happening.

I decided I will roll as a qunari lady. Before I only tried as an elf or a human. While those two didn't have much banter (10-15 banters at +80 hours), my qunari lady has many. Party is often talking between themselves, I heard famous "watch out" when I was nearly slipping from a high mountain, I heard some war cries when fighting, they're commenting about nature and occurences.

It's so strange that now I'm thinking - is it possible playing one race allows you to enjoy game as a whole (qunari) and playing other, f.e. human doesn't. I mean, is it possible that somewhere in coding of a race something went wrong and it affects other things like banter, music ? I know it shouldn't, but...

Not that I'm stalking devs on twitter or anything, but...

How did we ever not think of such an obvious reason behind this issue in all 60 pages of this thread?!  <_<

This is in the news, surely Mark can't be that bloody suprised by it all. It's a serious issue and bioware should make a full statement about it. A lot of people including myself have stopped playing this wonderfull game because of it.

man they rly have to address this and some of the other problems (*cough* tac cam *cough*) because its gamebraking to a lot of us and keeping it silent makes this only worse because we - the fans - that have these issues with the game feel left out and if this continues this will turn into a lot of frustration and sadness...

seriously I don´t want to play DAI any more because of this bug and knowing that i miss out on so much content...

Just tried that. No music in Val Royaux. Ran around the hinterlands for 15 minutes, just picking herbs. Absolute silence and no music.

Explain to me what you mean when you say you “check off” stuff in the Journal? You mean the stars in the Completed Quests section?

I'm so sad now... I've just met with my friend and his Xbox version of the game contains a lot of banter...it's like we're all playing a beta version. No wonder it feels like the side quests are a bit dull.

BTW I have a weird, weird situation about my gameplay. It seems that after getting through to Skyhold my character.....changed his voice into British accent. I'll check this but I'm pretty sure it's different. So to sum up, it seems no further bug is gonna surprise me, lol.

I don't meant to be overly snarky... I know QA is a pretty thankless job. I'm pretty sure everyone in this thread just loves the game and just wants to experience it the way it was intended.

I want to know exactly how many lines of party banter each companion has.

We know what they had for DA:O and DA:2...

I want to compare to see if I've come close to "running out".

In your journal and codex and inventory click on every single item which has a little star

Yes, and in the Codex, the collections and the unfinished quests section.
