Explain to me what you mean when you say you “check off” stuff in the Journal? You mean the stars in the Completed Quests section?
It seems they mean they click on every position to set status as 'read'. Is that correct ?

Not that I'm stalking devs on twitter or anything, but...
How did we ever not think of such an obvious reason behind this issue in all 60 pages of this thread?!
Awesome, so it looks like this is actually a gameplay feature. JeffZero should probably close the thread at this point because it looks like this isn't a bug after all!

We' re all just a bunch on lunatics.
I' ve spent three days posting in this thread and I never thought about that. Everybody, go and get your "perception" checked by your doc.
@Kyrissae
I' ll try checking off the codex entries too. I didn't actually do that.
i swithed my party composition a lot and still do not get banter...
i startet whith the first full compostion possible:
cas, var, sol
and as soon as i get to new companions i switch a lot between them on a regular basis
for example
cas, dor, sol
black, dor, sera
viv, dor, sera
etc.
while this might trigger a banter after 3 hours or so i still do not get a lot of banter, neither does this solve the combat banter or the sound issues...

No not "yup." I've switched my party members constantly and I've had barely any banter. It's hard not to be pissed off when a person acts so dismissive.
Ok, gonna check the things off. Thanks. It seems like a nonobvious thing at first, but if the banters are cued off quests (exhaustion?), then it could possibly be a problem that they are not maybe correctly marked as completed (e.g. the ‘new’ status overriding it somewhere).
I’m not holding my breath though
And I’m gonna still play the qunari character, I think…
Edit: getting a fair amount of ‘quest completed’ notifications for quests I’d already completed.
Or, you know, that is how it is meant to be and it is all perception.
Allan knew about all of these issues, and yet Mark Darrah is there acting all clueless about everything.
His "I'll just ignore it, maybe it will go away" attitude is just irritating.
So has there been an update on WHEN this will be fixed...I think I have the issue. I mean I'm getting convos but it kind of seems like I should be hearing one every ten minutes. I'd say I get one every one to two hours..
I love the banter as it really does a great job in providing more detail to the characters and their relationships.
at this point i would like to ship my game rig to them so that they see that missing banter is actually an issue and that the game has other problems which need to be adressed, too.
But seriously nothing is as gamebraking to me as the missing banter and audio issue...

Not having a core group (cause I don't, for I basically play for meeting personalities in the game), I still have the issue. Some of the characters I drag along simply don't talk to each other.
Edit: ah, it was being ironic. I missed that. Sooo right. I think most of us tried every logical, illogical, normal, abnormal, and hilarious things from shaking the screen to checking the voice with various speakers and monitors.
Looking at Mark Darrah's tweets is probably the most depressing thing to come out of this entire disappointing experience. I waited for this game for five years, bought every Dragon Age DLC, book, comic, and side game ever made, and when Inquisition is finally released, completely broken, the official response is that we're crazy, and we're supposed to be getting only a dozen banters in 60 hours of game-play. I guess Cass and Iron Bull only have one conversation together. My mistake. I must have exhausted all one of them.
The journal clearing is working for me! Varric even told me to 'watch out' when going over a ledge (just like with someone above) and I have a couple of banters within a few minutes of one another... I will keep testing.
I have one more question from those who got it to work. Is the music supposed to be continuous, or periodic?
