Why would people feel offended? The post was an update to an ongoing investigation. I suppose they could just say nothing until they find a solution, which might be forever. It's better they communicate what they are doing.
Because of this statement:
We have conducted rigorous initial tests, all of which have shown that the system is working as intended. We ran tests over the course of several hours, and compared the captured footage of the playthrough with what the banter the game had recorded as having happened. In all instances, our game records matched the recorded play. The banter also occurred as frequently as intended.
We have also similarly investigated save files that were supplied to us by users, and these were likewise found to be working properly.
I know Conal is not a PR person, but having been on a testing team, I know that the most aggravating thing is when the developer says "sorry, we can't replicate this, closing this issue report". Now, that's not what he is saying, but he could have phrased it in the way the PC issues announcement was phrased, i.e. we are looking into it with all our resources, here is how you can help, etc, etc. Keep it neutral while not committing anything. If the PC issues announcement was phrased in the way of: "we have done a number of usability tests, and in each of these tests, the tactical camera and Keyboard + Mouse work well, and most people are able to get used to it" then the whole thing would have gone up in flames (even worse that it currently is).
So yes, he could have phrased it better and rather than pointing us towards stuff that has already been tried / we already know, which it would be pretty obvious has already been tested by the community.
