Wouldn't surprise me at all if the deluxe edition stuff was causing the problems. It is awful...The dragon armour clips with most shields when walking. You would think that they would actually make sure that content was right! And the Red Lyrium weapons you can get as well...Why?

An idea I had is if someone could make a video where they can show what it's like for us in Val R.  Perhaps if they showed that next to a video that is silent in the city next to one with the music, that might help push things in the right direction.   :)

Hey Natashina, this was posted some time ago, does it help: https://www.<span st...eature=youtu.be

On the very rare occasion I do hear combat music, this is an example of what plays.

The music in this game is very beautiful. It's too bad we don't hear it very much! Now I just think back to Dragon Age 2 when the music would cue perfectly and the banters would flow very organically. A lot of people give that game crap, but at least it didn't feel lonely.

I agree about DA2. The only bad thing in that game or two, is the repetitive use of the same environments and of course the lack of the proper tac cam combat from DAO (for those that love it, I have no need for it). The rest in DA2 was awesome IMO. The combat was badass, it was fun and visceral  and you felt powerful and great flow.

The banter was on the spot and music. As far as I remember things WORKED.

This game has many bugs, and combat is borderline boring and stale.

I remember hearing the first part during the assault on Heaven. Never after that, not even at Adamant's Keep.

I hope to see a fix before Christmas, or else... well, I don't know. At the moment I'm starting to think that I just threw 45 euros out the window.

I had banter with the original trio of Cass, Varric and Solas. It stopped after I acquired other party members and decided to change things. Solas and Varric were the first to go, replaced by Viv and Serra- didn't have any banter. I now roll with my mage, Viv, Blackwall and Bull - the only piece of banter that I've heard was a three sentence exchange between the Wall and Viv; when she comments about his shield blinding her in the stormy coast...I'm around 15 hours in now...was really looking forward to the Bull's banter, sigh...

Okay, I just updated everything on my computer, including BIOS. If I still have the issue, I am sure it's not my computer messing the game up.

It's not the deluxe only. I have the standard and i rarely get banters. I started another playthrough, spent hours in the Hinterlands and I only heard 1 banter between Cass and Varric.

As the GAF response shows, don’t use example videos where you don’t know the settings :)

We should have plenty of possible evidence ourselves. So, here’s what I propose for the PC players: sign up for Twitch. It isn’t too bad, unless you’re absolutely at the limits of your machine already.

I use Open Broadcaster Software to record (I found it simplest to use; Twitch has links and installation instructions) and since video quality is of little consequence I have the max bitrate as 2000, resolution downscale is set to 3x and broadcast at 24 FPS which reduces the resource use even more.

Important: turn on archiving in Twitch settings. This will save your videos for two weeks, for free, which will hopefully be enough.

I’ll try to get some playtime today myself… unfortunately I didn’t have archiving on when I streamed some gameplay earlier :( So make sure you turn it on!

I really do not understand certain user's behaviour around the various forums. I'm talking about those not affected by the bug.

They're just going around claiming that the glitch doesn't exist and it's just our problem. Why would you do that?

Well, probably because since they don`t have it, no one have it and it`s just our perception :P Plus, there are many other bugs with the game, and people want devs to fix those first and not "imaginary" banter bug.

I haven’t really seen much of that. One or two people chiming in that it seems to work for them.

Edit: …And just as I type that, I see. Replying over there. I don’t read reddit for a multitude of reasons.

(Edit2: I’m actually kinda irritated that (evidently) their own Feedback forum isn’t the primary place to actually contact them.)

It's even more terrible when they define the banter and music bugs as MINOR issues. I'm sorry, what?

The 30 fps stuttering cutscene is a minor issue, not the complete lack of soundtrack and companion's characterization.

I would surmise that those who make such posts are hoping to take the wind out of our sails so as to have the glitches they have been hit with resolved, or because they perceive our ongoing discussion as a negativity cesspool against BioWare (when in fact many here are among the generally most outspokenly positive fans on the forums, I've found) or because they just refuse to read long enough to recognize that we aren't all just waving ignorant pitchforks to the rhythm of banter every 10-30 minutes. We're frequently encountering zilch for dozens of hours from the start of the game onward until we begin altering the variables we've isolated as probable links.

Try not to let those folks get to ya. It's frustrating, but all the better to inform them. And if they won't listen, you've tried. Move along home. :)

Another issue I already mentioned :

After the travel to Skyhold my character changed his voice, it seems... now he has British accent. Lol.

I am really getting tired of this argument and I am afraid that the fight haven't even started yet.

Why is it still hard to believe that there are people who has this problem. It removes everything that was the game built for: great atmosphere, great characterization and character development.

And if one more time someone says that it was intended to roam the fields in utter SILENCE throughout the WHOLE game, I will punch for it now.:////

Btw, I managed to make the music in Val R. play in my 100+ hour save. And i have no idea how, lol. I just turned on my pc this morning, remembered about someone saying to try and run it as an admin, did that in the shortcut options, and when i loaded my char - there be music in Val R. It doesn`t play any music on my another save, though. I don`t seem to have any change in banter though.

i don't know for sure if the journal thing fixed my game -- but it looks like it. planning to spend most of the day playing inquisition so i suppose i will know then. so far my 5+ hour save i just loaded has already had a banter within 10 minutes, which i'm taking as a good sign.

if not, regardless, thought i'd mention this just as something related to the bug, as it has given me a new weird issue -- this is the fifth time i've loaded my 40+ hour save in the exalted marches, and every single time i do so it puts me right in the middle of an ongoing conversation. it seems to be just that save -- my 5+ hour one has banter but not on load, and no earlier saves seem to do it. i don't know for certain if i'm in the middle of it or if it just starts as soon as i load, but it feels like i'm missing something. i know for sure i'm not saving during the conversation, because one time i did and when i reloaded it didn't continue. but right now...i know someone had this before, but i don't know if they had the same constant reoccurring issue with it.

From the reddit thread, as I think this is fairly important. Someone pointed this out:

Another issue is that, as far as I and a few others have seen from messing around with the assembly code for the game, everything is present and correct. If I leave the scanner running when I'm playing and set it to pick up the banter hook it'll get about 9+ hits across an hour and all but one of those will pop (banter cuts out in combat/certain areas as per design I think).

Whereas we tested it out on someone who was affected by the "bug" and all the calls were still being made, without issue, but there was no banter being played in game.

At this point I'm starting to think that the lack of banter REALLY is correlated to the lack of music.

This also proves that yes, we are supposed to be hearing banter at least 4-5 time in the span of an hour. At least.
