Because games nowadays are ridiculously complex pieces of software, especially stuff like DAI. The amount of testing required to even get a game like DAI to the state it is currently in is incredible.

While this is absolutely true, it would help morale if once a bug is found BW owned up to it and didn't push responsibility to the users. The official response is - let's be honest - a joke. And while I appreciate that there are members of the team who take the issue seriously, the kind of PR responses BW has been making do not help the situation. Reading through the official response still leaves a sour taste in my mouth: it comes off as "It's probably your fault, but we'll do you a favor and look into it, even though everything is fine.". And while there is a correction later in the thread, it would be nice to see that kind of attitude in the main post as well.

Just to add to the confusion:)

Today started new game. 2x. First saved right away when I could. Got music glitched.
Second did not save manually. Now working properly. Question though. Does Haven has music?

Keep u guys updated.

Your music breaks during manual saves because you enter the menu, which fades the music out (which never returns). I managed to get music in Haven once, it was the same music as in the War Room.

Well your belief on why bugs are more common is much more.... positive than  mine.

There were varying degrees of the sound bug on Battlefield just like there are varying degrees of this bug in Inquisition. Both of which I was lucky enough to get the worst of -_-. I could only here gunshots in BF and in Inquisition I only get music, minus the bard that I'm told exists in Skyhold. I bet she sounds beautiful :(

No banter either.

I don't think the Maker likes me very much,

I see few threads about banter, guys are discussing this on reddit, twitter etc. And everyone comes up with doing fast travel to VR and never exit war table unless by fast travel. Most of the replies were positive on that fix.

It really doesn't do much for me in terms of banter. Music has fixed itself along the way, but banter is still... flaky.

Ugh I couldn't even read that post without wanting to break my screen.

I've tried the Skyhold travel fix, offline fix, and the mount and unmount and rest fix. None are working. Currently watching this thread and the response thread waiting for a fix from some user.

When asked about the banter glitch:

yes. This will not be fixed in the FIRST patch, however, as we do not have a reliable repro or a fix.

*sigh*

Well, this is incredibly disappointing, since it's probably gonna take several weeks for them to release a patch that fixes the issue then. It's pretty weird how they can't seem to be able to reproduce such a widespread issue.

Actually from the sound of it I'd say your hardware doesn't like you very much. What you describe feels a lot like a driver issue, especially the Battlefield and Skyhold bard part.

To be fair the first patch probably is already in QA and will be released within the week. Even if they could reproduce the issue by now and find a fix, timing probably wouldn't allow for the fix to be included in the first patch.

DAI has sold 1 million copies already - what you call a widespread issue could be limited to 1% of the player base or less for all we know. Which means testing 100 different configurations will trigger this issue once if at all.

What really upsets me is that they still don't have a way to reproduce the bug. I already knew that there was no way for a fix to be included in the first patch, sadly.

the FIRST patch

The best part about this whole situation is that they delayed this game to "polish" the experience.

Honestly I didn't expect it to be fixed in the first patch, but my heart still sank reading that. It's so hard to put this game on hold indefinitely after getting so into it. Meanwhile all my friends who don't have the bug are finishing their first playthroughs and unable to talk to me about it.

The war table fix gave me some music back, but did not solve the banter problem (or combat music, or combat dialogue/battle cries).

Not sure whether to blame public schools for bad reading comprehension or a weird sense of entitlement gamers can be famous for. None of the responses have been dismissive or flip (Why on Earth would they be anything other than professional?).

If people are going to throw such hissy fits, at least realize this 'bug' is so weird and sporadic, that if you managed to figure out something was wrong on your own, it would've been after playing in certain areas of the game and not others. (No reviewers noticed this for example.)

Oh come on now. The problem with the official statement was that it addressed the problem in the last sentence of the post. Before that was "Everything is working as intended, here is a list of things you might've screwed up.". And there would be nothing wrong with that post, if it was some baseless drama going around in the forums, but it wasn't. There were pretty serious and continous bug reports, recorded videos, etc. showcasing the bug, so just acknowledging it as one would've been helpful (as it happened later in the thread I might add).

Also I am sick and tired of hearing about this "gamer entitlement". I can see the reasoning when we're talking about design decisions (eg. ME3), but with objectively provable bugs? It's not entitlement to expect the company to release a bugfix as soon as possible. If I bought a car, and it was working, but was missing the windshield and the rear-view mirrors you wouldn't call me entitled if I took it back to the dealership I got it from to complain about it, would you?

I'm gutted it won't be in the first patch. I had hoped it might be. But maybe banter bug will get inadvertently fixed by it? I shall remain hopeful.

Yeah, I agree with this. People had no right at all getting up in arms about the ME3 ending. That's a design decision and has nothing to do with the gamer. Bugs are totally different.

I don't know if I should just start over and hope for the best or just wait.

The saddest part about this whole thing is we don't have a date for the first patch. That could be this week or actually weeks away. If the banter/music fixes are patched its probably not going to be for months, once you factor in them actually coming up with a fix, QA time, christmas holidays and console certification.

Same here. This is my last glimmer of hope. If it doesn't work I'll just uninstall and try to forget about this game for the time being.

Oh please. I've only had audio issues on these 2 games, the games that happen to have the same

engine and type of issue. More like neither of these companies can handle working with audio in FB3.

You're arguing from a percieved slight no-one even attempted. I mean, you're demanding a bug fix that was never denied and never allowed sufficient time to get fixed in the first place! So this is *literally about nothing*.

And it makes the word entitlement very apt. (Videogame developers are not in a perpetual IM chatboard updating people about every footstep they take. Especially when you're dealing with 5 platforms and hundreds of thousands of copies sold. Things take time.)

(Keep in mind, I've already read a few responses with the same weird sentiment/projecting things/mountains out of molehills.)

The drums all over Skyhold is not a bug. That's how it's supposed to sound there.

No. When people complained about it in the forum they said that it wasn't.

They just can`t decide if it`s better with drums or without, that`s why they don`t tell us anything xD

None of the responses have been dismissive or flip

I would agree that Bioware's response to this issue has been good - at least, what I would hope for if I was having the problem.  Allan seemed to put in a lot of extra time investigating it, and even after their initial conclusions they're still looking at it - and apparently planning to do something about it, even if it is working as originally intended.

Mark Darrah even tweeted out a possible workaround discovered by a user.  That impressed me quite a bit, since it was much different from what I've seen Bioware do in a similar situation before.  When a fan-made fix was created for the ME3 face morph bug, Bioware didn't promote it - quite the opposite, they locked and buried the forum thread where it was being discussed...and then never fixed the bug themselves.  (And that was a much more definite, clear-cut fix for a definite, clear-cut problem.)

(Why on Earth would they be anything other than professional?).

In the case of the ME3 face morph bug, I'd say Bioware was very dismissive and unprofessional.  Why on earth? Well...you'd have to ask them.  But the fact that it may be inexplicable doesn't change the fact that it happened.

I did not feel slighted at all. The point was that the problem was not communicated properly, nothing more, nothing less: a post in the vein of "We saw the incredible amount of bug reports posted on the forums. This is definitely a bug, but we have no idea what's causing it. We're working really hard on finding a solution. Sorry for the inconvenience." would've helped the situation much more, than the official response.
