Oh, Mass Effect Codes Database, how I love you. Thank you SO much for this info. Because of that site, I could tweak my character's appearance to my heart's content.

And the old links died, so I'll try this again:

Kyrie (Valkyrie) Shepard
Colonist War Hero
Adept Paragon (w/ about 25% renegade)
Icy B*tch to most people.

I wanted to make her pretty, but appear completely intimidating in a fight. In importing her into ME2, I didn't know what to do with her hair (I didn't like the imported cut at all).

My hubby said, "Hey, wouldn't she be bald?" (no spoilers as to why, but if you've played more than 5 minutes, you can guess) So...

Posted Image

For ME2 I stripped her hair and makeup off. :o

. But, of course, I didn't want her to look like that ALL the time. So I changed it up throughout the game.

I also didn't want to mess with her underlying character model at the risk of loosing the eyelash mesh. So I began the complicated (and dare I say, girly?) undertaking with the Gibbed Editor to "grow" her hair back over the course of the game and change up her makeup as well along the way.

Kyrie Shepard put on some makeup for her meeting with the council, but then sort of wondered why she'd bothered (punks!).

Posted Image

To make it look like her hair was "growing out," I lightened the color from the darker blonde to a custom shade halfway between the red-blonde and the lightest blonde:

Posted Image

Kaidan wondered what the HECK Cerberus had done to her.

By the time of Kasumi's heist, the color is fully lightened and she's grown some hair back and added some makeup:

Posted Image

Her hair did grow out rather suddenly. I really wish there was something between the above pixie cut and the longer hair (in ME3, please?).  Ah well, it's approximate role playing, no? Eventually, she will be back to something resembling her old haircut. Just a little less military than before:

Posted Image

The original face code is: 163.Q79.W17.H19.KBS.76W.HNE.832.FK2.981.632.617

That is the originally imported face painstakingly reconstructed. The face I actually used in ME2 has slightly lighter blush, darker eyeshadow, and a bald head with darker hair: 163.Q79.W17.H19.KBS.77W.HNE.832.FK2.982.132.512

For further details on how I did the hair and makeup, see my blog. I posted detailed codes there. It's an ongoing project. Full thanks to the Mass Effect Codes Database for giving me the tools to do this. You guys rock!

What can I say, I liked playing with G.I. Joes AND Barbies as a kid. And Legos - hence the haxoring. Only doll hair didn't grow back. :pinched:

Kyrie also looks very lovely with the long hair. But it doesn't suit her personality, so *shrug* I didn't use it.

When you're being rebuilt by Cerberus, there is a point where you choose class / appearance. Select 'custom'. You'll be taken to the face builder screen.

Alt tab over to the window you're picking your face from. Copy the code you want to use.

Click back into ME, and click the 'paste' button at the bottom of the screen.

Method to gain TIM ( cybernetic look ) eyes:

Open save in Gibbed Save Editor.
Change to Raw tab.
Expand
+Squad
+Player
+Appearance
+Morph Head
+Texture Parameters

Open the Texture Parameters list.
Add two new entries as follows:
code:

Name: EYE_Diff
Value: BIOG_HMM_HED_PROMorph.IllusiveMan.HMM_HED_PROIllusiveman_Eye_Diff

code:

Name: EYE_Spec
Value: BIOG_HMM_HED_PROMorph.IllusiveMan.HMM_HED_PROIllusiveman_Eye_Spec

Open Vector Parameters

Change "EYE_Iris_Colour_Vector" name to "Emis_Color" (without the quotes) and then change the colour values,

if you have a pc, i've found a few ways: there may be more.

1) use prtscn key (print screen) to "Save" the shot. open a paint-style program and paste it into the canvas and save. this is slow, stupid, and requires much alt+tab. is horrible, but works in a pinch

2) picasa. google picasa will do an instant save if you hit prtscn while in game. mine made a folder and just put them all in order, too. one problem is that you must have picasa running in the background of the game. it also saves as a .bmp. i found that you *can* make it save as a .jpeg, but the compression time makes the game stutter and lag a little. the other problem is that a small little tag will show up in game to the right of the screen each time you hit prtsrn telling you you captured the shot. it can be distracting. picasa is my fave, because you can save screenies, then upload them to an album easily (see my sig). and picasa is free.

3) fraps. i now run the full paid version of fraps to be able to record video. because of the picasa alert every time you take a screen shot and to minimize things running in the background, i now use fraps for my screenshots. it, like picasa, instantly takes a screen and archives it by date when you hit prtscn. however, it can run WITH the video capture. it also lags if you save as a .jpeg or .png, so i save as bmps, then batch change them over to compressed files. full frapgs is about $40, but there is a free version.

hope that helps. others may have more ideas.

Also you can 'translate' the ME2 code back to ME1.  As noted above the sliders are the same except ME2 is missing the scar setting.  Each number or letter corresponds to a 'click' of the slider.  The letters are numbers above nine (i.e. A=10, B=11, C=12, etc).  I found it easiest to open a word document, paste the ME2 code at the top, make a translation chart (A=10, B=11, C=12...through Z) and then convert the ME2 code to numbers.

To give an example, my main Shepard was made first in ME2.
Posted Image

Face Code: 753.1FE.F11.M79.EG1.17M.2GG.A11.LN8.987.766.326

Mass Effect 1 sliders from the Code (note that far left is one):

Face Structure: 7
Skin Tone: 5
Complexion: 3
Scar Slider: pick any

Neck Thickness: 1
Face Size: F (15)
Cheek Width: E (14)
Cheek Bones: F (15)
Cheek Gauntness: 1

Etc, for the rest of the code.  Since the makeup values changed a little between games I just pick the ones that look the best.

Mmmm... using this information, I put together a small web-app that does all the translating for you. Just wondering if people would be interested in something like that, so I can post it :police:.

I would be interested. Using a chart takes time.

Alos, it is important to remember that the letter 'O' is skipped... probably to avoid people confusing it with '0' (zero) which is also not used. As such, the face generator has a maximum of 31 possible settings per slider - starting with #1 and ending with W.

Ok, I uploaded the app here: http://bit.ly/axQlNb

Just paste the ME2 code press the button and that's it. I tested with my 3 active ME2 characters and it works fine.

Things of note:

  • "1" Is the farthest to the left
  • The ME2 code for male hair/beards is scrambled, this app returns the correct order.
  •  Remember that ME2 has no Scar slider, so just input what you want.
