Actually I've had mixed results for that. Some characters import with their codes available, but some do not. Perhaps it was updated, or perhaps certain features did not carry over properly?RandomBS wrote...
Pretty ridiculous that it's impossible to get a code for an imported character.. you'd think bioware would know that a ****load of people would be importing from ME1. There's no way in hell I'm recreating it through comparison though.

I then took this code and started another game, I input the code and it was pretty similar to my ME1 character (close enough to not be a coincidence). All I had to do was change the facial structure and the eye shape, along with a few minor nose and mouth height tweaks and now it looks nearly identical to my ME1 character AND I now have an accurate code from the creation screen. For people who don't have codes show up, try this.

Okay for the peoples who code never shows up I think I found something. When importing a ME1 character I never got a face code... However, I just tried a NG+ (ie importing a ME2 character, one that I imported from ME1 and beat the game with) and I got a character code when the game actually started in the squad screen. (There wasn't one on the creation screen.)

I may try that eventually. I'd really like a code for my infiltrator, who was actually the first ME1 character I designed and can never quite replicate.

The colors are different between ME1 and ME2 for some completely batf---k reason. Imports will maintain the 'correct' eye color, but remakes will be limited to the ME2 palette.FouCapitan wrote...

Okay stupid question, how do I post a photo of My shepard on here?
For PC, if I'm correct, all you have to do is screen capture. If you're talking about the 360 version, that requires either having a video capturing device or using a Digital Camera/Phone Camera. That's why my pics are kinda sucky compared to others.

Took me a while, but I finally managed to replicate my Vanguard Shepard onto a PC version. What do you think of him?
EDIT: MizzNaaa, this blog post from DalishRanger should help you.

I currently have 20 Shepards of both genders (too much time on my hands, obviously) - some of them turned out quite nice, others not quite so well. It's a rather silly number to screenshot them all for here, so I have an album that collects all my Shepards so far, along with their face-codes (save a couple of untweaked imports). Here are a few screenshots of some of my best Sheps, and if you like feel free to leave comments in my album.

I tried to use the guide here for a custom hair: http://www.masseffec...s&tutorial=hair
But the guide says nothing about the reasoning for why you should make a new character. So I just applied that to an old save instead, using this style here: http://i180.photobuc...lleShepard2.jpg
Clearly there's a problem with the textures, but I followed the guide to the letter, twice, so what's wrong? Is there some kind of a flaw that you HAVE to do it to a new character because the initial scarring / no-makeup effects, or what?
Also, here's my original ME1 Sheps and the ME2 version, completely imported (didn't figure out that you could overcome the whole "delete the base when you try to customize an old character" problem by just starting the game and going back to char creation with the newly acquired character code until today... so I expect I'll be enhancing her in the near future). I must've spent some 150 hours or so on this toon combined from ME1.

This doesn't look like a texture issue to me, rather the hair model is clipping into a large head.
Are you sure you followed the whole guide?
By 'old save' do you mean an imported ME1 save?
--EDIT--
I just downloaded an ME1 character file from masseffectsaves.com and followed the guide after importing into ME2. It works fine, I can only guess its either human error or a really big head.

This is Emily Shepard, chosen at random from masseffectsaves.com, following the guide she goes from ugly greasy hair from ME1 to ugly greasy custom hair from ME2.

No I mean an ME2 save in mid-game. The guide tells you to start a new character, save and mod in the new hairstyle immediately after making a new toon. But I would rather not restart the whole game just to get a new hairstyle, or wait for the 15 minutes it takes to wade through the unskippable introductory scenes just to get to making the new head. I likely will try that sometime later, but for now I didn't.
So unless someone has anything to say (searched and googled around for it to no avail at all), I will assume that it only works when applied to a brand new character straight up from the operating table. Shame..

??? Whoozawazzit??
What does it matter when you choose to change your hair model? The whole premise of the guide is changing your hair after lazarus.
It doesn't matter at what point after lazarus you do it. Right after or right before the suicide mission. Its not like over time in ME2, Shepard's head gets bigger and bigger or they get more attached to their hair style and refuse to change it.
Its no wonder google couldn't help.
Post your ME2 save game for someone else to try if you're convinced you followed the guide perfectly.

No need, I let the game start over and play past the scenes while cooking some food, and got to debugging the problem. Apparently this hairstyle here is the issue:

I could import the new hair just fine to a new game with the default hair, AND thereafter to my ye olde save of the same character I posted above. It appears the mohawk exception that's mentioned in the hair guide applies here as well in a way, the hairstyle posted above requires more changes than just the 1 mesh and 2 default textures, and so only changing those three won't be enough for the new style.
So it seems you can NOT choose a random hairstyle, since at least the one above is an exception.
At any rate, the problem's solved now.

I'm sure you can change that hairstyle into a custom hairstyle by playing around with the textures a bit. I didn't mention the _mask and _tang textures in the tutorial as for all the other hairstyles you don't need to change them, although for that hairstyle i'm pretty sure thats the reason why you get that strange mixed mesh and texture. I haven't actually tried changing that specific hairstyle, but I think if you delete the imput codes for the _mask and _tang and anything else that has a similar code for that hairstyle, then paste the correct Mesh, Norm and Diff codes in it should work, although not completely certain.
