Sadly, the method you described doesn't work here (and for nearly no one, far as I can tell). It either shows no face code at all (in my case); or, from others who reported such, it shows the default face code.J4N3_M3 wrote...

Anyone knows how to get face code from imported Sheps from ME1?
I would just as soon forget about it. I too have been looking for this for a long time. And every once in a while someone comes along to get your hopes up, only to find out he or she simply doesn't know what they're talking about (like it will turn out to be the default face code, after all, or something). Far as I know, it simpy can't be retrieved.
As to why Bioware decided to go thru the length of allowing people to import ME1 characters, only to stomp them on the face code at the last stage, is a subject of much musing between me and my mind. But fact is, they did, and we'll just have to live with it.
P.S. But I'm not bitter, or anything.
I have a bunch of imported Sheps and got all their faces edited the way I described earlier. *shrugs* If that's not how you guys want it, so be it. I tried to offer the solution that's worked out fine for me but oh well, guess it's always easier to rant than to actually try it out.
So there may not be a facecode the moment you import your Shepard, but it will create one once you have started the game. and you can use the created facecode to tweak if you import the face again and make a custom face.
Are you absolutely sure about this? I took a look at the Gibbed Mass Effect 2 Editor, the other day, and I noticed it seems to store 'face morph data' from *any* savegame (including those with ME1 imported chars) as a series of retrievable slider settings (retrievable in the sense that the entire head can be re-created with it). Those 'slider' settings may not coincide with the in-game ones, but a complete facial reconstruction can be made once you import someone's char.me2headmorph data file.ELE08 wrote...
I'm assuming it's because the character creator changed between games (no scar slider, additional makeup, different color values for eyes and makeup.) Technically you can't create a Mass Effect 2 code for a Mass Effect 1 face. They probably just import your old face on a brute level, long strings of numbers, weird values...I have no idea I'm not a programmer.

In fact, I just confirmed this: I exported my ME1 face for Kira, and imported it in a savegame for my entirely different new ME2 character, Re-L; it's a perfect import! So, it may not be a face code, but swapping me2headmorph data files may be the next best thing to publishing/importing another person's ME1 faces.

The Mass Effect 1 face information is definitely stored in the savegame. I was making the assumption that because it's slightly different from the Mass Effect 2 values that's why they can't give you a Mass Effect 2 code for it.
Gibbed headmorphs are a definitely a viable way to use someone else's Mass Effect 1 imported face if they don't recreate a code. I think the issue most people have is not being able to tweak their own Mass Effect 1 imports without starting from scratch.
There is in fact a way to use Gibbed to get the sliders for a Mass Effect 1 imported character.

Can anyone confirm if the 1.02 patch actually gives you a facecode? I wrote in my previous post that after I imported my ME1 Shep and got to after he wakes up in the lab, I went to the Squad menu screen to assign points and he had a face code. I don't recall seeing this there with the RTM and 1.01 builds of ME2. Note that I didn't get a face code on the screen where I imported his face, only got one once I was in the game itself.

Based on what I know, it does not.
Did you go into the custom creation screen at any point? If so, that code will display in the squad screen however it will not be your import Shep's code.

Pitch Black was awesome. Such a damned waste of a potentially good sci-fi/horror/action franchise because they chose to get rid of everything other than the action.
