I know what you mean, it was great but there's just something about it that felt slightly off (although I can't be sure that's not just down to countless glitches I encountered on the PC version), but overall I really enjoyed it.

The final battle surprised me though, I guess I'd come to expect the final goodbyes and the empowering speech on the battlefield lol. I was a little disappointed that our preparation/readiness wasn't taken into account, I assumed that there would be consequences for not doing the companion quests or not having their approval up high enough, and I thought for sure that there would be different degrees of success when battling Corypheus, or that we'd have the option to sacrifice ourselves/die since that had been a major complaint about DA2.

I dunno why but I thought for sure that some of the battle would take place in the Fade. I thought Corypheus would actually push through near the end, we'd fight him in there for a bit, and then we'd have to some how shut the Fade from the inside likely leaving us trapped in there depending on your preparation etc, *cue cutscene of everyone mourning thinking were dead and if your readiness was high enough you drop out of the fade again and surprise everyone*

... instead that happened kinda during the Grey Warden's quest... minus the saving both people part, lol.

Yeah. maybe they could've given like 8 things going wrong in the future fade quest and allow you to salvage 4 of them during the story quest.

The final show-down will be between the 4 VS 4..  yaknow?

I totally hear you. My personal impression was that they rushed near the ending of the game..

Kotor II > Kotor 1

DA:I > DA:O

The analogy works... kind of.

still think DA:O is the better game..but then I think it is damn near perfect so...

I love it when you point out flaws in a fanboys game and they get all mad. Oh I so wish I knew how fanboys reacted towards DA2 when all the bad reviews came out.

Meanwhile, other people think Da:I and KotorII are the better games. They think they are damn near perfect.

Wow, what a strange concept.  People think differently, people like other things, people are not just apart of a hive mind loving the same type of cliche story structure that has existed for 1000 years. How is that possible!?

Could it be that all of these games are generally really good games that some people like more than others and some people don't like more than others. Thus, because some people don't like them that doesn't mean they are complete failures. How bizarre! How can people be so varied in opinion? In thoughts?

I haven't finished DA:I yet, I have a love hate relationship with it right now, and at the moment it certainly pales in comparison to KOTORII when it comes to story for me.

Also, the exile didn't have amnesia for the last time! Revan did, yes, but the exile did not. I mean, one of the first things you do as the exile in the game when you fire up the galaxy map the first time, is tell Atton about that time you got exiled from the Jedi order and refused to say that following Revan to fight in the war was bad and that blowing up a planet was bad. How on earth is that amnesia. The exile just didn't know how she lost the force, didn't remember a child from a class she taught nearly 20 years ago, and didn't remember one random engineer amongst many engineers that worked on a planet destroying project over 10 years ago. *rips up a piece of paper and throws the pieces everywhere* RAWR FAN RAGE!

They didn't fail at all, in my opinion. The game isn't perfect, but it is very very good. Deffinatly a good step in the right direction.

I thought you gave the game a 6 in another thread. How is it very very good to you? Is 7 Gooder, an 8 Great, 9 Fantastic, and 10 Golden Perfect?

You know what I think part of the problem is people are having? The revelation in Kotor2 and DA:I that you're not playing a special snow flake character. In Kotor2 the exile has an unfortunate ability to influence people, so all her natural leadership qualities are potentially a sham by complete chance of the force. Meanwhile with the Inquistor, she just keeps accidentally doing stuff right which is unfortunately perceived as divine intervention when it's not.

The utter disappoint that the masses are bowing and singing to you because they have fooled themselves into thinking you're that important when you're really not. Everything you've done is by luck.

Well I'll go ahead and mirror the general opinion that KOTOR II was excellent and I enjoyed it more than its predecessor. In fact I think Kreia is probably one of the best characters I've encountered in a video game and she really added to the Star Wars universe, which is so often full of pantomime villains and evil for the sake of evil, but that's a discussion for another time.

I do kind of feel that DAI's story started off really strong but started to waver a bit towards the end. I think the reason for that is that after Haven we just keep undermining Corypheus at every turn to the point that he stops feeling like a threat. It was fun to imagine how much that guy must have hated us after we thwart literally every attempt he makes at grabbing power, to the point that by the end of the game he was reduced to essentially nothing, with all his careful effort gone in to manipulating Orlesian courts and massing a red templar/venatori army down the drain. We didn't even seek him out - he was just so enraged that we got in the way of his plans yet again that he launched an attack on Skyhold directly with nothing but himself and his dragon. It must have wrecked his massive ego, but it didn't really make him feel very threatening. Even the final fight and death scene was pretty underwhelming. He should have killed our love interest or something, now that would have dealt a blow to our Inquisitor (and hundreds of people on these boards, I'm sure). Maybe not that, but he should have kicked our ass one more time after Haven so that we'd take him a little more seriously.

But there were so many other lore-relevant revelations in the story that I just loved, like finding out what the deal is with Flemeth, the discovery that Tevinter did not in fact destroy the ancient elves, time travel being possible in the DA universe, physically walking in the Fade (I had hoped the Fade would be a bit weirder than a bunch of floating green rocks - it was still very pretty, though). All of these things were really cool as someone who's loved all the lore and background of Thedas since DA:O so I can forgive its ending for not quite living up to scratch.

If what the OP is true and DA:I really *is* KotOR II, I'm going to feel really stupid for waiting so long to buy it.

Uhh.. actually in my quotes in first page, I think I agreed that DAI being KOTOR II is really not a bad thing.

'Pacing problems' and '*similar* synopsis' maybe the similar qualities between the two.. however.. many would disagree with the statement that DAI = KOTOR II.

Its a fine game. Many would recommend kingdom of amalur as a fine game, and in that sense I would recommend it.

However, It has some flaws, Its difficult to describe them.

Mostly by attacking everyone who didn't think the game was fantastic, and arguing that other games also have flaws.

There is no such thing as a ten, number one.

See, the problem is a 5/6 is still average. Putting things on a scale of 7 being average is why people lose their minds when a game is given an 8 or something. It's why everything is scaled the way it is regarding reviews.

So yeah, if he thinks its a 6, the real question is why, but why it's good. You know, like what a reviewer should do; justify the good over the bad, or vice-versa.

I loved KOTOR 2 and enjoyed it far more then cliche KOTOR. I also enjoyed the story and cast (along with the PC) far more in DAI, only thing DAO has over DAI is really it's combat mechanics being solid and not bullshit on the PC version.

To be fair, I never really attacked people in defending Dragon Age II, at least intentionally. Honestly I didn't even know people hated the game until I came to this forum...hows that for a dark twist of fate.

And all games have flaws. It's why there is no such thing as a ten objectively.

Who says Kreia's the villain? She's kinda right about the Force, after all. The SWU would have been a lot better off if all the Jedi and Sith had just dropped dead right before Episode 1 begins.

First off, Bioware didn't make Kotor 2 and secondly, Kotor 2's story was great but missing stuff due to being rushed. DAI is an amazing game, I'd give it a 9.5/10

I don't know who says that, but I certainly didn't. I said she was one of the best characters to grace a series that's so often full of pantomime villains who are evil for evil's sake, suggesting that Kreia is something other than that.

I think you summed up exactly the things I don't like about the main story of DAI. I wish we had spent less time building up Corypheus and instead learning more about the situation.

Well, I defended it but I don't think I attacked anyone. Then again, I didn't think it was perfect, just not the abominable train wreck 0/10 it's detractors tried to make it out to be.

KotOR 2 was excellent. One of the damn good Games I've ever played... And Obsidian did the game with a 1 year schedule. 1 year. Imagine if they had more time

I think that KotOR 2 had a great story too, and

Spoiler
being the villain... one person in your ship, that you came to trust, or she came to trust you, teach you the "Grey side of the Force" KotOR 2, IMHO, is a true Star Wars Game. Kotor 1 was good too, a bit repetitive, same old, same old, but not like the Second Game.

Edit: Ok, maybe not a villain, but you had to kill her in the end and she was a Sith Lord, so...
