.Note: Devs have said it is possible to exhaust banter within areas/between characters and it can be limited to your in game progress, doing missions will unlock new conversations with your characters the link is here if you'd like to check it out. http://forum.bioware...8-party-banter/

There was a thread on the lack of party banter so I thought I'd post this to see if it helps. Some info on conversations when you're out in the world and a list of the kind of conversations you might have

Party banter doesn't seem to have triggers other than location specific conversations, it's been confirmed to be random but unique to the characters involved. If you want banter you'll need to pick the right characters for your party and change them around regularly. There are locked options that become available as you progress and influence points caan be used to upgrade conversations about specific subjects at the war table. That allows you to join in to the conversations on PS4 you press R3 when a prompt appears.

CONVERSATIONS TYPES.

Cassandra and Blackwall. (Friendly combat related)

Cassandra  and Sera. (Joking conflict)

Cassandra and Varric. (Love hate/Location specific conversations in the Hinterlands)

Cassandra and Cole.(Indifferent/conflict)

Cassandra and Dorian.(Competing ego's)

Solas and Sera. (Culture clash/location specific dialogue in the exalted plains)

Solas and Cole. (Mindful)

Solas and Vivienne (Conflict)

Solas and Cassandra. (Reconciliation)

Solas and Varric (Friendly inquisitive non human focused)

Solas and Bull (Inquisitive conflict)

Cole and Vivienne. (Conflict) *interactive options*

Cole and Sera.

Cole and Blackwall (Mentoring)

Vivienne and Dorian (conflict) *interactive options*

Vivienne and Bull. (Viv Domineering)

Vivienne and Varric (Indifferent small talk)

Vivienne and Sera (Conflict/Romance specific content for Sera) *interactive options*

Bull and Cassandra. (Joking combat related)

Bull and Varric (Indifferent small talk)

Bull and Cole (Cautious. inquisitive and awkward)

Bull and Blackwall (Bromance)

Dorian and Solas. (Mages gonna mage)

Dorian and Sera. (Riches to rags meets Rags to Rogue)

Dorian, Solas and Cole.

Solas, Sera, and Blackwall.

Solas, Cole, and Bull

CHARACTER AND LOCATION SPECIFIC INFORMATION.

Cole has location specific dialogue In areas of large scale death, destruction/Provide unique insights into certain characters attitudes and even subplots/Looting from corpses gets unique dialogue/Crestwood specific stuff.

Bull has location specific dialogue on the storm coast/Makes Puns about and comments on landmarks.

Solas has location specific dialogue in exalted plains/Poetic or insightful comments around nature or elven ruins.

Sera has location specific dialogue in emerald graves/Water specific dialogue/dismissive comments around elven ruins.

Vivienne has desert specific dialogue/Lamenting comments about recently destroyed areas.

Cassandra makes political and lamenting comments on recently destroyed areas/Chantry specific dialogue/Crestwood specific stuff/Interesting series of comments in Emerald Graves.

Dorian has ruin specific dialogue/Ocean and rain specific dialogue.

Varric will make inquisitive comments about landmarks.

You might have to think a little bit about the kind of conversations characters might have between each other before hand, if at all. Some of these are hilarious others will put you in a position where you have to pick a side I hope somebody finds this useful anyway if anyone else feels like adding to this please do.

Edit: Varric + Solas + Cassandra is preferable in the hinterlands for conversations.

Obviously taking Elves into either of the dales locations/Elven ruins yields results.

I'm loving the banter between Cassandra and Sera. Sera also has great banter with Dorian.

I appreciate the tips and I'm sure they'll be of help to others, but trust me, it's a bug we're experiencing. :P I have had all those perks unlocked for dozens of hours and tried every party combination, testing each one for at least an hour of exploring... and nothing.

Cool to know for when it gets fixed though.

I've had a few interactions between Cassandra and Iron Bull; Iron Bull likes to consider battle tactics with her.

Iron Bull and Blackwall have been triggering a lot in my game. I think I have only had like two or three so far with interactive options.

Yeah, I too notice that they are companion combination specific. Some combination yields more banter than others. Also they are pretty quiet at the beginning but later they will start to talk more.

It is possible to have banter between three companions.

I've had Varric, Solas and Cassandra all be part of the same piece of banter (obviously it was at Cassandra's expense).

I would be shocked if everyone didn't have banters with everyone else.

As would I but it's helpful to know who speaks regularly opposed to one liners also adding some location specific details, interactivity and the kinds of conversations.

That happened to me too, I think up until I finished the first act I had almost no banter and thought it was bugged. Well, maybe it IS bugged, or Cassandra, Solas and Varric don't like to talk to each other... But later on I got banter more or less regularly - still less frequent than in previous games though.

Blackwall, Iron Bull and Dorian like to banter, and Cole comments EVERYTHING all the time on his own - it was so annoying that I stopped bringing him along, the poor kid.

Dorian and Bull also have good banters, Doran and Sera too.

But overall I think Bull has the best dialogues of pretty much every character... Bring him to the quest "How to lure a dragon" and you'll see for yourself.

Do not bring Cole and Solas. Ever. Unless you want to be bored to death. Cassandra is way more hilarious than those two. And we're speaking of a walking storm.

The amount of dialog and optional cutscenes is staggering in DAI. I've never played something so fleshed out in terms of character interaction and immersion in lore.

Yeah, they don't hate each other's guts yet still hang out all the time, like in DA2.

Heeeey! I like Cole's banter. When he was asking Blackwall why he had a beard and BW was like...uhh, I'm not sure spirits who pretend to be boys get beards....or when he freaks out Iron Bull by an accurate memory from his past....or his conversation with Sera about her bow being made from a tree that lovers carved their initials on (and Sera not being bothered to give two flying effs)....or his conversation with Viv where is trying to warm up to her and Viv is like, don't talk to me, you demon boy.

I like Cole. I really like Cole.

All I can say is Dorian and Iron Bull have a banter together that I won't spoil, save this one line from Bull:  "Only if you buy me dinner first."    What gets said before that had me nearly choking with laughter.  Strike that, I was eating dinner, so I was choking.

I agree about Cole especially in dark places like adamant and exalted plains.

Added some new stuff which is all good to listen to.
