Added a little but not much i'll keep updating what I can when I come across it so long as the thread is around. I still haven't had a three way conversation yet which is a bit disappointing after 73 hours hopefully i'll come across some of that soon the banter is becoming a favourite part of the game.
I've been running Blackwall, Cole, and Solas. Cole and Solas talk a lot to each other for obvious reasons. Blackwall and Cole have had some pretty great Mentor and Student type conversations as well. Only had one three way conversation between them were Solas and Cole were talking about some crazy stuff and Blackwall was just like you too are weird. Either way I've had pretty good success so far. I commend Bioware for all the companion dialogue. Especially having to interlink 9 different companions talking to each other.
My favorite banter so far- Dorian, Vivienne and Solas conversation about... how bad-looking Solas clothes are. Well, that was expected ![]()
My party banter plenty.. just not to me ![]()
Solas tried to talk to me once but I was in the middle of something and didnt get to reply so it took it as a decision NOT to answer. Since then.. no one talks to me. I miss that, it makes me feel like I am there to lead.. but not a part of the inquisition.
Updated for the night I'll see if I can find anything tomorrow. Still a lot to discover, which makes me smile.
If anyone has anymore info on interactive options and three way conversation it would be appreciated.
Sadly, my party banter is bugged, as is my Bard - so I'm glad if I get to hear any banter every hour or two...
But the few I've heard, and given me biggest laugh and giggles, involves Iron Bull vs Cassandra and Sera vs Cass or Dorian.
Sera: So Seeker, I heard that you and the Inquisitor having a thing.
Cass: Huh? A thing? What thing?
Sera: A thing, involving a thing he give you a thing.
Cass: There is no thing.
Sera: No thing? So you no getting no thing in the thing. Aww, poor you.
---------------
Sera: Cass, I been wonderin'.
Cass: Wondering what?
Sera: What knickers you wear under your armor.
Cass: I'm not wearing any knickers under my armor.
Sera: Pfffta (Laughs) Ya'll 'ear that! Cass aint wearin' no knickers!
I adore how subserviant Bull is to Vivienne. It's adorable.
Sera's one about the inquisitions motto is gold and yeah Bull is just happily dominated by a woman. Nice touch from Bioware considering the stuff that Cole reveals about him and what he tells you about his background.
They are having a look in to it in any case.
Updated for the night start a new game tomorrow and i'll see if any banter changes occur in a different class.
Updated with dev info from their party banter testing otherwise content to let the thread die out. But i will keep updating the OP if i find new things to report.
There is supposed to be a comment from Varric or Bull when I put down landmarks? Seriously? Now I am sad.
Not putting down landmarks but discovering them for instance at exhalted plains moving along the rivers edge will get a comment from Varric and Bull has amusing comments about some of the ruins in the area.
My favourite line yet is between Bull and Cole.
Cole: In the last battle, you stopped someone from hitting me, even though you're afraid of demons.
Bull: You may be a weird, squirelly kid, but you're my weird, squirelly kid.
And then he talks about not wrecking it with a hug.
Bull: You get a one armed slap on the back at most!
Cole is fast becoming my favourite person to bring he has huge amounts of conversational content and comments.
OP is updated.
Whats the name of the upgrade so I can join in conversations? Also I beat the main storyline so is it too late for me?
I'm also heavily confused by this. There is NO influence upgrade to increase party banter, at least not on PC. You can only upgrade history/arcane knowledge etc., but that only increases your options for non-party banter dialogue in certain situations.
Also you don't have to press a certain key, to join the banter. The dialogue wheel pops up automatically on random occassions, which are super rare anyway.
Well you might be getting different banter to me, because mine require me to press R3 to join the conversations. There is even a prompt on screen that says 'R3' on it and i didn't notice myself getting those until after they were upgraded at the war table. Also if you don't press R3 fast enough it disappears completely, i've had these occur in front of doors to ruins and landmarks and a conversation between Vivienne and Cole where i was required to pick a side.
And yes i'm talking about the influence upgrades at the war table. I don't however discount that it might have been a coincidence or simply good timing.
Where in the lists are these upgrades you speak of located? The only dialogue related stuff I can upgrade, is at the top of every category, like criminal/history/arcane knowledge and they don't influence party banter at all. The dialogue wheel comes up randomly on PC, while standing there doing nothing but listening to the conversation or while walking around and listening. This happened to me at the very beginning also, when I hadn't yet picked any dialogue related influence perks.
However, it only happened three or four times at most now in 180 hours, so it could either be a PC related bug, or it just doesn't happen with certain party member combinations. I run around with the same people most of the time.
Take a read through the link i posted on the OP and get back to me on that, trust me. And why would i make up a lie about something as trivial as a button prompt? There's no conspiracy here dude i'm just providing information i've gathered myself and from others, so people can role play a little deeper if they don't have the banter bug and maybe provide some info to help if you do. Chill.
I'm sorry, if my post came off in an offensive way. That wasn't my intention at all.
The thread title is "Party Banter Is Upgradeable" and there is mentioning of perks you can unlock with inquisition influence to do so. People, including myself, were wondering about said perks and wanted to know where to look for them. That's all. I'd happily spend points on such a perk, but I'm afraid, there isn't any, at least not on the PC version. I also didn't question the button prompt, which you might get on the console version. I was just stating, that there isn't one on the PC. I'm perfectly calm and was only looking for clarification. ![]()
The original title was when people were confused over wether or not it was bugged it started as me trying to explain how it was working. Found out it was bugged and i can't change the title now would be nice it i could i'd just change to 'Party Banter'. ![]()
Updated OP with some stuff found some interesting things out about cassandra and her family in Emerald Graves she's blabby once she get's going.
Two interesting banters I had today:
Thanks mate adding it now.
