Could somebody explain how AI handles spellcasting? I mean, I set up spallcasting behavior tab, but I don't understand how scalled casting works and would power spellcasting be better? I want that AI cast damaging spells, but not only fireball in spellbook (that's why I prefer sorcerers and Favors Souls, arhh!).

I usually played this game with one or two spellcasters in party, but now I have four and I think AI doesn't good good job, but I don't find micromanaging enjoying.

Any advice on how to deal with four spellcasters?

Scaled means they try to keep the spells they cast appropriate to what you're fighting. Power means they'll Meteor Strike a kobold, if they can.

I always set them to scaled, then pick spells carefully. That seems to work. I only have to micro manage the big fights.

I have always gone for overkill casting mode and kept most spells as damage ones to make sure that everything gets blown up at every available opportunity

I don't trust the AI at all.

Even scaled casting has its drawbacks. A party member will gladly waste a fireball on a single enemy that is 'near death'. Then in the next fight they'll choose to cast Magic Missile at one of several enemies. The AI is often more 'A' than 'I'.

Yeah, scaled is often overpowered enough, but I'm lazy and don't like to micromanage either, so that's what I use generally (I tend to turn off item usage, though). Warlocks are an exception; since they have infinite spells anyway, I set them to overpowered. Then again, I normally prioritise buffs rather than offensive/control spells.

If you want to play a caster seriously, though, manual control is advised. In that case, making the caster your main character and letting the AI control warrior companions may be more convenient.

Also, this assumes restricted resting. If you're gonna rest after every fight, you may as well go with overpowered casting.

Scaled really is overpowered...
