Pretty much loved every aspect of this scene, the set up, the context, what happened before it, the melody, the timing, everyone's reactions, Leliana's voice, and even Cullen's.
Yes! It even bugged slightly and the audio was out of sync but I still was stirred. Simply beautiful.
I loved that scene and unlike Leliana's campfire song, the faces weren't funny looking. The scene actually caused a stirring in the void where my heart once was. I also really love the scene where you are confronted by Cory and his dragon for the first time and my Inquisitor pretty much tried to sacrifice herself for her friends and followers.
I mostly just laughed my ass off when everyone randomly burst into song. I know it's supposed to be inspiring but i was expecting it to go all Sister Act with dancing nuns and stuff.
This. I appreciate what the scene was supposed to do... but, yeah, I just burst out into laughter when everyone started singing, *shrugs*. I don't think it's a bad scene, it just didn't really hit me like it did for others I suppose.
I also can only imagine how awkward my Dalish mage felt at that part (since she had just told the priest she didn't believe she was the Herald of Andraste). At least she had an elfy chat with Solas after all that ![]()

Oh good. I thought I was the only one who laughed at it.
No, I got incredibly uncomfortable and start saying "No.". Like when I think about my future.
I liked it well enough, but like a few others here I got a chuckle out of everyone breaking out into song.

I felt the same way, my Dalish mage was probably shifting around uncomfortably at the whole thing.
I thought this scene was going to be lame and cheesy at first, but it got really powerful really fast.
This is what made me think "y'know maybe I should stop being such a Chantry bashing asshat. I may not believe, but if being 'The Herald of Andraste' is what gives these people hope, then that's what I'm going to be."
That scene creeped me out and I dislike it immensely.
My Inquisitor has been spending a good portion of the game telling people that he is not the herald of anything, that this whole mark thing is probably a really bad accident, that we do not know if there is a maker or not...That it is good to be skeptical and curious, not to be blindly faithful...That all of this happened because of fanatics and arguments about the next world and we should start focusing on this world, the current one....
& then almost every-freaking-one of them there did a complete 180, started doing a religious flash mob song and exalting my Inquisitor as some glorious figure...
I was like "What the f*** ?!", cringed like nobody's business and just muted the whole song until it was over..
That scene was so completely out of character for my Inquisitor. For some Andrastian Chantry sniveling Inquisitor, that scene might be lovely, but for an atheist or an agnostic skeptic Inquisitor, that scene was creepy and showed the fundamental problem with Thedas...They just had someone tell them throughout the whole game to not be big on faith and to focus on reality, only for them to not do that...
Simpleton mundane sheep of peoples with their faith and herd mentality...*Disgusted noise*
I think you raise a good point...just because the one guy there starts bowing to you and makes it about the Inquisitor in the end...but on the flip side the song itself is rather secular in nature. And more generalized themes rather then specifically religious. No mention of the Maker, Divine, or Andraste. But I can still see where it would unerve you.
I'm wondering what exactly that song is.
It doesn't sound like a portion of the Chant, but it could be, it could be a marching song, a folk song, something to that effect.
Its very wide spread though; a very diverse audience sings it.
So again...it could be the Chant.
honestly I thought it fit everything well. bare in mind you just got completely rofl stomped by the big bad, your base destroyed, countless lives lost, you're fleeing for your lives through a very dangerous mountain range. Despite what some may think it was NOT about the inquisitor. Just prior to the song the entire Inquisition command team (minus you) was freaking out IN THE MIDDLE OF CAMP, and INFRONT OF THE TROOPS! ask any military service man how absolutely bad that is. Morale was shot, stabbed, nuked, and buried at that point. It was a situation of despair and hopelessness. The song did exactly what it was meant to, Raise Moral and restore hope for the journey ahead that was all.
Too Walt Disney for my taste.
Everything after that scene was awesome, however.
I was more blown away watching a high dragon throw a giant in the air on the Storm Coast
But yes I've seen that scene with the singing

So they're sheep because they're all gathered together under one banner with the same principles and join in on a song that's meant to reassure them when they need to have their spirits raised? That scene creeped me out and I dislike it immensely.

Up to this point, this game didn't really feel like Dragon Age to me. But then the attack on Haven happened, and then this scene, this maker damn scene and that's when I knew I was back in Dragon Age
One of my favorite scenes in the whole game ![]()
Mother Giselle has quite a lovely voice (in my opinion). The whole scene was pretty great really though I almost thought they'd be singing their way to Skyhold.

How? The narrative unrelentingly assaults you with religious motifs right out of the gate. You cannot escape it; the paralleled comparison is and will always be inevitable in such a game.
It's my only criticism of this title; it's one long serenade to religion and it's distasteful.

That comment was regarding several posts which have been deleted. Let's all try to disagree with each other in a civil manner ![]()
