This.  I appreciate what the scene was supposed to do... but, yeah, I just burst out into laughter when everyone started singing, *shrugs*.  I don't think it's a bad scene, it just didn't really hit me like it did for others I suppose.

I also can only imagine how awkward my Dalish mage felt at that part (since she had just told the priest she didn't believe she was the Herald of Andraste).  At least she had an elfy chat with Solas after all that :P

Solas was the best part of the whole scene when it shows his face he's just thinking "And now they're singing.....Wonderful....If any of the Elven Gods are listening could you please pull me into the abyss?"

Solas' expression :- "Silly shems and their songs"

That comment was regarding several posts which have been deleted. Let's all try to disagree with each other in a civil manner ^_^

That's a shame. We might have had a discussion.

I found it to be a great "Frak YEAH!!!" moment.

The Inquisition was down but not out.  The fight hadn't been beaten out of them.

I don't get this "omg, religion!!!" complain.

This particular scene was about hope in desperate times. It was initiated by a priest, but that doesn't necessarily make it religious. I never read it like that.

Neither did I. The song was non secular and never once mentioned religion. If nothing else, it was an inspirational hymn about hope and that everything would be alright so long as you kept your head up and didn't give in to despair.

This scene is only a symptom of a larger problem, sadly.

The game forces you to work with the Chantry's top representatives and it cares not for your arguments or insistence on humble origins. You are the Herald of Andraste, your worship. Deal with it.

Despite that, it is not too hard to overlook its insistence on divinity; luckily this is a great game.

Granted I haven't finished teh game yet, but so far the Chantry as rejected the concept that my Inquisitor is the "Herald of Andraste", has in fact called it blasphemy and has labelled the Inquisition heretics.  My own Inquisitor has been skeptical on the whole matter.

You are "the Herald of Andraste" because the common folk believe it.  Or want to believe it.  There is no formal declaration, no real evidence to support it.  It's simply a representation of the hope you bring.

Cass and Leliana are who I was referring to; Justinia's left and right hand. Though I am happy to see that Leliana is having her doubts.

And it's good that the common folk have hope. It's bad that my Inquisitor never hears the end of it everywhere she goes.

From the first tolling of the bells - to the announcement of of role a Inquisitor.  I felt that entire part was amazing.

This game is a storytelling masterpiece (gameplay could use work)

While i am a very agnostic Inquisitor, i loved the scene.

It really hit the "raise up the morale" theme, it was awesome.

Hell, i also like to think that when Solas looks at me, there is like this mutual understanding between the 2 of us that "You know i dont belive in this, but these people need to belive in me"

I liked the song, but I thought it was funny how everyone started joining in. I was expecting them to stand in a circle and hold hands. And it was nice to hear Leliana sing again.

I thought it was good scene. My Mage went from being "I'm just a normal guy with ice powers" to "Holy ****, I am a prophet!?!" because of it. I liked the exodus to Skyhold that followed up more though.

I mostly just laughed my ass off when everyone randomly burst into song. I know it's supposed to be inspiring but i was expecting it to go all Sister Act with dancing nuns and stuff.

LMAO Glad I wasn't the only one laughing my ass off...

interesting.  granted im not that far past opening skyhold but Leliana and Cassandra never struck me as Pushing the whole Herald bit.  They wouldn't suppress it but to me it doesn't seem like their pushing it at all.  Infact I recall one conversation with Cassandra (in skyhold I think) where she asks the Inquisitor straight up if she believes herself really Andraste's herald, or something like that.

One the one hand it bothers me but on the other hand, this is exactly what actual people would do/believe and being immensely bothered by them is exactly what I do irl too, so...good writing

I found not so bad if I imagine my Inquisitor being all "knock it the f*** off already" in her head everytime they're overly zealous about it.

Especially bad with my dalish mage though, she openly told them she believes in the elven gods (which are much more plausible if not outright confirmed to be real btw) and everyone still calls her after Andraste <.<  If they really want to call her divine or holy they could at least call her something vaguer like Herald of the Fade or Avatar of the Gods or Envoy of Heaven

Pretty much loved every aspect of this scene, the set up, the context, what happened before it, the melody, the timing, everyone's reactions, Leliana's voice, and even Cullen's.

Absolutely, sent chills up and down my spine. I just really hope it's on the soundtrack!

P.S. Could someone take the time to explain how to create the spoiler button?  It's been a long time, and I've forgotten.

The fact that they allow the rumor to flourish reminds me of the Bene Gesserit in Dune who actively encourage certain beliefs and matters of faith. Religion/Faith/Belief in something, anything is a powerful force in the human psyche. It is neutral and can be used for good or evil, but there is no denying that believing you can achieve something is half the battle. So, called it cynical or political, but allowing that belief to grow is fuel for the fire that keeps the inquisition alive.

It worked beautifully with my Andrastian mage returning from the dead, praise the Maker and pass the ammunition!

I loved it.

My only criticism is that I wished the song was not on the main theme. I feel like it kinda breaks the fourth wall when a music piece I have been listening to exclusively is suddenly brought up inside the story.

Poor Roderick; Honestly just when he was starting to believe in the Inquisition he dies.

Still at least he died fighting an enemy that needed to be fought, well one of two enemies depending on who you decided to rescue from the evil mages and all.

I loved how everyone's all bickering and angry, and the Inquisitor has the gall to start acting NEGATIVE, and then Mother Giselle just calms everyone down with a church hymn. Her line when it's over just seems to scream "owned".

Up until this point i was liking the game but it hadn't grabbed me the way Origins did. Then Mother Giselle started singing, it was at this moment when i said "this moment was worth the price of the game" it was then i knew i was in for an awesome game. So far im almost 60 hours in and i am loving it.
