I just finished the Winter Palace mission and I did not get the Belle of the Ball achievement. Is it supposed to unlock when you get to 100 approval or if you finish the mission with 100? It's impossible to finish with 100 since you have to search the Royal wing for proof and your approval goes down every minute and after the boss fight you can't use the coins to get more approval.

 

Is the achievement broken or did I do something wrong?

 

PS: I got 100 approval 3 times (during the dance, after tossing some coins in the fountain and after releasing the naked soldier) and the achievement still won't unlock.

What are you playing on ? I'm playing on PC and it unlocked fine. And I didn't have 100 at the end, as you noted it's not possible.

What was your outcome? I found 3 proves that all of them was conspiring and bring that up in the last conversation. I told them that all of them are guilty and that they are working for me now. Got the achievement.

I got the achievement after reaching 100 and then it going back down to 99/98.  I had the Duchess arrested, Gasparde exiled and Briala and Celene talking a little nicer.

I'm on PC and I agree with OP. It didn't get unlocked. Maybe there's a way to gain more approval from the final conversation, but I'm not sure. Played that mission twice (I reloaded because I wanted to make sure u can't open all the halla doors) and I didn't get it.

I killed the Duchess (now I have to judge a corpse in a box   ), exiled Gaspard and said that the elf helped me (in later dialog, Solas told me she was arrested or executed or something like that, weird). How do you arrest the Duchess, I had no option for that in my fight.

Maybe u need to expose her crimes when Celene is addressing the nobles? Also I managed to reconcile Celene and Briala. She becomes ambassador. I showed them both the elven locket, I think that helped.

I unlocked it, I guess it depends on how you deal with the Empress, if you expose the traitor elegantly then you get the achievement (you must get hidden [HUGE] approval probably)

That's what I was thinking too, so I loaded one of my saves about half way through the mission and I'm giving it another try.

 

Does anyone know if it's worth getting all the scandalous secrets?

I finally got it. It seems that you only get the achievement if you arrest the duchess. As soon as I selected that the achievement popped up.

If you chose to expose her to the whole of court you can arrest her.

If you get all the secrets you can force the court to work together.  By that I mean there is a secret re the empress and grand duke and briala, each has a secret and if you find all three then you can use these over each one and it forces them to make alliance instead of ie sending duke into exhile for example

Ok got the trophy 3rd try, you arrest her by chosing to talk with her when speaking to cullen, then the trophy should pop, i didnt have all the evidence. I did however get all the statues which lets u in a room and you do get a clue out of it

You don't need to send her to guards. You can still get the achievement even if you execute her yourself.
What I did was publicly expose duchess' ploys, execute her, and then force three of them to make peace and work together.

My approval was 100 by the end, btw. It's possible to end with 100 'cause although it doesn't show up, maximum number can actually go over 100. So if you gained more than 100, your approval won't go down from 100 for awhile. And you can still report secrets to Leliana or talk with nobles in-between combat sessions to keep your approval up.

You can get 100 at the end if you confront the Florianne publicly before she attempts to kill Celene. I was at 90-something when I started that scene and got the achievement by doing that.

It's totally doable to finish with enough points. I think you only need 95+ to get it, and as pointed out, even in the final scene you can still get points.

I had 100% but didn't get the achievement. I did however, load an old save just now and instead of confronting her during Celene's talk, I spoke to her privately and the achievement popped up. So it's really about being discreet.

You need your approval to be at least 85 in order to publicly call out the Duchess. Then the act of calling her out bumps you up to 100.

This is correct. I finished with 100 approval, but when I reloaded a save an arrested her as opposed to confronting her in front of everyone, that's when I got the achievement.

Alright so the first time I did this I got 100 approval but I decided to chase after Florriane and initate the boss fight because the XP and unique bow were to much t pass up. I reloaded a save made earlier and instead exposed her to the court and only then did the achievement unlock for me. So yeah... missleading achievement you have to expose the duchess and avoid triggering the boss fight with her.

if you reach 100 approval probably later on you will get the achiev

Make sure you chose to speak with the assassin (florianne) in addition to having a high approval rating.
