Guys; If you think heterosexual women's romance options are so much better than the heterosexual men's, why not just make a lady inquisitor and romance the men instead? You get the girl of your dreams and a heterosexual romance. Problem solved, bring in the dancing lobsters.

I give my resources...my time, my money, my attention, my emotions, my commitment...To a woman that I am romancing...So if I expect sex from them, I am bad ?

The payoff for any investment in any relationship is having a friend / companion - which requires the other party to make a similar investment.

If you're looking for transactional sex, you might want to seek the services of a professional.

It is not, really

Not everyone likes sex, not everyone wants sex. Some people want romance without sex, just with cuddling and light kissing and holding hands, maybe kids. Some want sex without romance. Some don't want neither sex nor romance

Love isn't lust. They can easily be combined, though

Why are you playing a BioWare game then?  I'm trying to think of a prior BioWare game, with romance, that didn't finish in a sex scene.  ME1?  ME2?  DAO?  DA2? SW-KotOR1&2?  SWtoR? Jade Empire?  Seriously how far back do you have to go where there wasn't a shown sex scene or a FTB?  I don't think it's unrealistic to expect the romantic couple to be getting it on in a BioWare game.

KotOR didn't, although you could headcanon it. KotOR 2 wasn't Bio. But yeah, the vast majority of Bio romances have included sex.

Dorian's romance was very nice actually, even though the arc is a trope that has been reused many times

Yep...

All because something is a trope doesn't mean it's negative. It's why stories like Harry Potter or Batman (which employ several tropes) are enjoyed and treasured. It's why Walking Dead and Game of Thrones are so well loved. Those are tropes done right - which makes Dorian's romance satisfying.

That sort of confrontation still does happen in Real Life. Gay children are still fighting their parents for acceptance. I worked with a girl who had the same problem with her mother. They had a very broken relationship, with her mother using religion as a weapon against her daughter. They fought, sometimes physically. And I'm not sure if they'll ever repair their relationship.

Dorian's situation is not a trope to me. It's realistic.

The romances for my straight male inquisitor are awful. Cassandra is interesting (that's why i take always take her with me on missions) but I just find her extremly unattractive and can't stand her masculine look.

Josephine looks gorgeous and I love her (german) voice, but her whole romance felt, like I was watching a disney cartoon movie. I thought I was playing a "dark and mature" (at least Bioware described the dragon age franchise this way some time ago) and not a PG- 13 kingdom of Amalur ripoff. Whoever wrote the Josephine romance, did a bad job imo.

>Implying Cassandra isn't extraordinarily attractive.

Women with scars and an aggressive tone are sexy

Your opinion is bad and you should feel bad, **** taste confirmed 0/10. Romance I like > Romance you like

The real disappointment is that you cannot gaymance Cullen, or romance the scout dwarf girl at all.

This. So much potential for her to be the Chambers if Dragon Age, but no.

Cassandra is beautiful imo yes she is tough but that doesn't make her any less of a babe, ii'd bet OP would agree were she in a dress and had long hair but thats cool we all have our preferences when it comes to these things.

She is awesome but far from adorable. She also looks like a guy.

Whaaat? No she doesn't. She looks like a tough ass chick with shorter hair. I think she looks good and can't wait to romance her in my third playthrough.

People buy Bioware games for the sex scenes?

I romanced Alistair, Kaidan, Garrus and fell for Sten
In the first two cases sex scenes are optional. Garrus ME2 scene is emotional, not sexual, and very vague. And Sten is not a LI, obviously
Plus, you don't know me. So don't make assumptions about my attitude toward sex or why I should or shouldn't play a game

You're preaching to the choir, Mrsquidgereen. I may be a heterosexual guy, but I find the FQuisitor/Cullen romance just as nice as the the MQuisitor/Josephine romance. Haven't seen Blackwall's yet, but that's my planned 2nd playthrough anyway. Iron Bull and Solas might have to wait a while. Cassandra keeps calling me back. What a lady. And yes, she looks like one. I really don't understand why so many people see her as looking like a guy. A semi-masculine woman, maybe. But still a woman. Really not getting a male vibe from Cassandra's looks.

Why do these threads keep getting made?

EDIT: lol, posted without reading the first post.

But even when made sarcastically it managed to get drawn out into a long debate over Cassandra's supposed manliness.

I agree with what has been said with Josephine's romance, the courting is fine but when you get to the duel part....ugh.

They are not great.

Here's why:-

1) Cassandra is only romanceable by a very specific type of Inquisitor. If you play as an Inquisitor who does not believe in gods which includes the Maker, who thinks that this whole Herald thing is superstitious bullshite, not very big on the Chantry, form an alliance with the mages, not very supportive of the notion of rebuilding the Seekers, is a Necromancer...Yeah, good luck with romancing her...

To be clear, my Inquisitor did not want to disband the Seeker and he plans to become a Rift Mage but the fact that she is so religious it is an almost instant turn off for an atheist like me...Religious girls and atheist guys never get along well....Both in real life and in games...I have been with around enough religious girls to know this to be a fact...

That is my biggest issue with romancing Cassandra. At the very least in previous DA games, you had the option of romancing a female that is not into Chantry or religion. In DAO, it was Morrigan. In DA2, it was Isabela and to an extent Merrill as well since she believes in the Creators...In this game, both the love interests are pro-Chantry and Andrastians...talk about lack of variety..

2) Josephine does not qualify for a straight male romance. Straight male friendzone, maybe, but not romance. Who thought that it was a good idea to put a Disney Princess Asexual Romance in this game ? I cannot even recall the last time I was interested in Disney Princesses...when I was 10 years old maybe ? But definitely not now, not in my 20s and certainly not in my 30s.

Additionally, the romance was very anti-climactic. The end result was, meh. After all you go through to win her affections, she gives you a hug and a few pecks on your face ? There is a severe lack of commensurate compensation...

Just imagine this...The Inquisitor has to flirt with her throughout the whole game...With her being blur about it which I find odd, I mean you call yourself a political expert and you cannot tell if someone is flirting with you ? Odd...Then you might have to get into a duel, you have choice to not to...Which might put you in an extremely humiliating position because she might publicly reject you...After all that...you get a hug and a few pecks....

I don't know of any man who comprehends the notion of give-and-take...would be willing to jump through so much hoops and shite tests...only to get so little...Unless of course if you are a naive Prince Charming from a Disney fairy tale but this is DAI, not Disney.

For crying out loud, Cullen, the former Templar, the super nice and cute guy, the one who Varric says needs to have a hobby and relax...can get naked and have sex...But not an Antivan diplomat ? Nothing against Cullen in DAI, he is very well written and very well fleshed out as a character but you have to admit, if he can have sex, the notion that Josephine, a theoretically far more liberal person, could not...It just boggles the mind...

*Disgusted noise*

The fact is, straight male romance options were far more diverse and satisfying to romance in previous 2 games than in this one.

My elven mage doesn't like the chantry and still got to get Cassy ;)

Wait so because a romance doesn't include sex it's not considered a romance?

Yes.

If there is no sex, it's the friend zone. This where women put men that they aren't attracted to.

My boy, the friend zone is a figment of the imagination. An arbirtrary construct based on the idea that just because you are nice, the girl should want you to be her boyfriend.

To the OP,

I totally agree with you and Im a woman, heh! Im now romancing Casa with a male human Rogue and man, every time I talk to her, I wonder hmmmm that scar, can a man really look at that his whole life, even if he loves her? Just my two cents. They overdid her face, I feel.

Cassandra is super adorable in parts of her romance and I think her's ended well. I think the Josephine romance is really sweet too, but I wish there had been optional implied sex.

Without it my headcanon goes in weird places - like the inquisitor and Josephine get day-drunk and pitch old laundry over the balcony after their kiss. :P

But seriously, I would have liked implied sex and partial nudity like the rest of the romances had.

Re: Cassandra has a scar!

I'm a woman and I have a scar on my forehead that came from an accident in childhood - and no one has ever told me it makes me look like a man or that I'm not pretty because I have it. In fact, people I see on a regular basis generally quit noticing it after our first few interactions. So I appreciate that Cassandra has a scar and is still confident, beautiful, and desirable.
