The journal says you have to kill demons to get essence containment apparatuses. For the last one, I went to long river and found the fade rift in the cave. I looted all demons but did not get the item.
I have closed all fade rifts in the storm coasts and can't find any more demons.
I have the same problem at the moment, looking for my 3rd set of demons.
They are not related to the rifts, they just roam around randomly in the 3 regions mentioned in the quest description. But I have run up and down the coast and still have not found the third bunch :/

That's good to know. I'll return to the storm coast and ride around a bit until I find it.

I found the third essence containment apparatus. Interestingly enough, it was a random drop from a red templar in the Hissing Wastes. I had killed hundreds of them already, so it must be a very rare drop.
