My thoughts. My disappointment. BioWare is dead or there still some hope?

First

Bioware is working DAY and NIGHT working over 25hrs/day listening and working to fix the problems. I've been there and done that. I know how this works.

Second

Problems that are properly reported are read and looked at. Comments like  " .. fix this at once..or keyboard and mouse controls are the s**t..", while coming from frustration, are not helpful in problem resolution.

...

Understand.

A lot of the angst on the forums in general is either lack of response from Bioware or lies/mistruth in the leadup to release. Particularly for PC players

All I want is a game that works or can be made to work as I would like it. Not such a big ask I would think.

I have had no graphics/system issues at all. Very little in way of crashes. Game has been very stable for me!

I'm a firm believer that they are dead at this point. Even if they fix the control and u.i issues on PC, I won't be buying from them again. Firstly the game shouldn't have shipped with problems this bad in the first place. There aren't any meaningful or interesting side-missions whatsoever in the entirely of the 47 hours that I've played the game. The only remotely interesting thing has been the main story, the rest of it feels exactly like any free 2 play Japanese grindy mmo that gives you the same repeatable quests over and over again and it seems like they made these huge open areas just for that purpose. Respawnable resources and respawnable enemies with the same damn quests over and over (you just kill stuff, nothing remotely interesting in terms of backstory or anything whatsoever happens) with literally no interesting side-missions at all.

The only remotely interesting side mission that I had within 47 hours of playing nightmare was in the oasis when I had to find a womans ring and return it to her. That was it, and it wasn't climatic or anything. I killed 10 spiders and the lit 5 torches and that was it. No cutscene, no dialogue, no backstory, no nothing.

I mean, damn.

Just....

damn.

At least skyrim had interesting side-quests where interesting things would actually happen during them.

This game doesn't even have that...  these area's are just pointless level/resource grinds. It's some of the worst and most boring game design I've seen in a long time. The entire oasis map doesn't even need to be there at all. I wish I could get a refund, I should have done it in the first 24 hours but I didn't realize the game was gonna be an empty grind.

And you don't have to agree.. All of us have right to like or not this game or all other. But he mostly says about bad EA policy and game bugs..

Thanks for responding. Exactly, all of us have a right to like or not like. Reason I stated mine, never challenged his.

This is what I'm seeing, too. There are things I wish were there: wallk/run, a real tactics menu, real isometric view, auto-attack--you know, a little more DA:O to go with the DA:O they put back in. I'm not getting this level of flail, though. This is a huge, immersive game with a fantastic level of detail and to write it off because the controls aren't quite what we might wish they were is baffling to me. It's been a long time since I found myself playing until 4 in the morning because I couldn't bear not to see what happened next, lol. There's simply no one who was more pissed off by DA2 than me and they've absolutely won me back with this great game. That being said, next game, I want to be able to walk, etc.

My problem is I want to stay up playing until 4am to see what happens next as well, but a few hours of fighting the PC controls is all I can handle at a time. If I didn't like other aspects of the game so much I wouldn't have logged over 100 hours (I took 2 weeks holidays for this game). But I'm also trying to ensure I get as much done as possible on this playthrough as I can't see them improving the PC controls (KB/M) to DAO and DA2 levels so I won't be playing it again anytime soon. On the plus side I'll most likely save $80 by not buying any DLC.

Plus I really wanted to play a DW rogue but found the combat nothing short of a total mess so changed to an Archer which is quite fun but after trying all classes for a number of hours found its also the only class I found enjoyable. I never figured they would remove auto-attack and auto-move to target and don't see what can be considered fun or engaging about being forced to hold down a few extra buttons during combat plus play spot the loot outside combat.

I could go on but its all been said before, lets just say that currently its a nasty love hate relationship that needs to come to an end soon.

The fact people call Skyrim interesting proves to me, that tastes vary so much. I just couldn't finish it. I tried. I really did. But I found it boring. That's okey though, for there are games for everyone out there, right? Since I didn't like the game enough I never took the initiative to go and post it on their forums. A part of me still hopes people who complain find some enjoyment in the game, for that is why they are here. And the reason I have this hope is, that I think sold copies numbers decide wether there are more games to come or not, and I want more games. I know, pretty selfish of me.

It is difficult if you encounter a bug, being patient when all you want to do is play, sucks. I know, I had a bug too and it was not welcome by me. But I also reminded myself, the fact mods don't pamper us all the time with updates might be due to the fact that they are occupied with dealing with the bug instead of dealing with me. I prefer the first over the second. Though as a player it is difficult to wait it out.

And lastly, this question is not entirely in topic, but it is eating me for a while now. What is a good RPG game for you guys? What makes it worth of playing? Would you actually buy a BG style of game in this century? Would you play 60+ euros for it? I wonder that, because, I would, but I also see how people complained about the Warden not being voiced, about the quality of the facial expression and the motions not being smooth enough. About the game being too well developed (technical requirements aren't that cheap a thing) and too under developed (could have better motion/expression/detail...). So what would you like the most, if gaming industry went what direction? Presently it is clearly the looks where we are headed with all the games that are released or awaiting release and with the new consols. Is there a market niche, I wonder, for more text based games? Is that really where we want to head? It would certainly solve the waiting 3 years for a game aspect. I am just wondering, I am not familiar with actual market analysis data. Your 2 cents?

I’m repeating myself here, but what the heck… :P

Two years ago, after ME3 mess, I figured I would gloat over optimistic views of Dragon Age fanbase in regards to upcoming DA:I. “You just wait and see how we felt”, I though back then… However, now I’m only left feeling sad and very sympathetic to those folks who were expecting a great game. :(

It amuses me how forgiving consumers became though. Imagine a hypothetical scenario: you go to local grocery store to buy a piece of meat. Flyer said it’s going to be a “fresh & juicy” piece. You buy it, open the package and find a rotten, cold meat full of bugs (ohh, too soon?..). You try to get a refund, but can’t (for whatever reasons). You then end up on company’s official forum to express your dissatisfaction only to hear that you are a “valuable customer” (but, wait, you’re a vocal minority… but that’s OK, they love all their children, even ugly ones) and that the company is working on some sauce that’s supposed to make this meat better. What’s even more confusing is that this exact piece of meat was ranked by other food critiques as “a massive monument to our culture” and “the best meat product in the modern food world”.
How ridiculous would this whole situation be?! Yet, it’s totally acceptable in gaming industry (not only re: Bioware). Why? Because we, as buyers, allowed that to happen. We've spoiled gaming producers. Period.

Solution? Well, it’s being said multiple times already: do your research, don’t rush into buying new releases and feel free to claim refunds for something not worth its money. We have to teach gaming industry that we, as their customers, value our own money. We have to teach ourselves the same thing too. (Heck, ~$80 is ~2-3 hours of work. Do you really feel engaged to stay late at work for extra 3 hours in the afternoon just to pay for this kind of game? Do you?).

completely agree, more i read the forums, i think ill stick to DAO
