Hi there Bioware,
English is not my natural language, so please forgive me for my bad grammar.
I played the game on my PC over the weekend (around 30 hours+) and I think there really are things there are things that need to be addressed.
I read some of the other threads, so I know, I´m not alone in this.
I played as a mage, at level 11 I did the story rift mission and unlocked the Focus ability. That was my 8th ability, with a human level 11 Mage.
Because of the vulnerability to certain elements of the enemies, I chose one nuke in each element tree + barrier. After that I choose fade step, ice wall and blizzard. Now all my slots are filled and I haven’t even picked a specialization and there are still a lot of skills points coming.
So later in the game I can only have like halve of my spells equipped.
I can understand such a system in a competitive multiplayer game like Guild Wars or something like that. But in a single player game, this is just complete bullshit.
To change the skills before every fight, simply is annoying, nothing else.
Another thing, in DA:O spells canceled or empowered each other, now I can shot all spells on an enemy and he is shocked frozen/chilled and burning at the same time.
The party AI really is annoying. I usually play combat in tactical camera, simply because I hate to hold the mouse button for auto attack.
When I cast blizzard and change character the AI instantly cancels the blizzard.
Barrier is often casted on the character with less health, not on the tank that has the aggro.
The way you can influence the NPC tactics of your group, was made in such a simple way that you simply have no control.
Please bring back the character tactics of DA:O.
(Why the heck does Varric start with 2 skill points in dual dagger? )
The tactical camera is really clunky and in many chases you see less than in the action camera. You cannot zoom out in indoors because the camera collides with the environment. Sometimes I get stuck in tree roots and stuff like that. Concealing objects like trees or walls should be transparent when you zoom out.
The limitation of the zoom level really sucks by the way.
In tactical camera you should be able to take control over multiple characters for auto attack focus fire.
Sending your advisers on side missions should be able to do on the world map, returning to the war room every 15 minutes is awkward.
I get an awful lot of blue rings that enhance skills with 30% damage/duration.
Since you can only equip two rings and you have more skills and every skill has usually a long cooldown, I would prefer stat rings or elemental damage rings.
There really should be a chest in your keep to stuff items, in particular those rings.
The inventory menu is awkward and it is long-winded to compare items you have equipped on other characters.
I like the crafting so far, it is in my eyes the best new feature of the game. (haven´t fought a dragon yet)
I haven’t really tried the multiplayer yet, only two matches so far.
The first was way too hard for my level 1 defender. We died in the 5th room, only because there was a level 15 assassin in my group who killed everything, until he got zerged
Maybe there should be an easier level for low level characters (level 1 till 5 or so). That way you could at least have a few skills.
The second game crashed and I could not reconnect ![]()
I like the game so far (maybe because I´m a dragon age fan), but you promised a PC FIRST design. But this sadly is just a console port.
