Morrigan and Flemeth killed me. It was the first time you see Morrigan trully caring and not hiding the fact that she´s scared of loosing the kid.

Oh man, that scene. Morrigan being more exposed than we've ever seen her, and Flemeth looking legitimately regretful she was a terrible mother was a terrific one-two punch.

The Hawke/Warden choice was sort of funny for me, because my initial reaction was "urgh, I don't want to decide who dies, waaah" immediately followed by "whelp, sorry Stroud." When I found out later who else the warden in question could be, I was really glad I happened to have made decisions that had Stroud with me ...

Except my next planned playthrough (which I'm doing now!) is a state where it's Alistair. Somehow knowing I'll have to make that choice in advance makes it worse.

I had to choose between Hawke and Alistair, I cried like a b!tch... and now I have to change my canon DAO choices just so that I never have to experience that ever again, lol.

See that right there is why in all of my playthoughs Alistair is king .Picking Hawke over Storud was a much easier decision.

I don't think I cried really at any of the scenes. Some of the scenes, however, were very moving, or affected me emotionally. The first time I saw the singing scene I wasn't expecting it, so I felt awkward. The second time I watched it I felt very moved. I really liked the scenes of Cullen fighting his addiction, especially when he finally hits the bottom. When he punches the book case and says, "I should be taking it" I was like wow, this is one of the best scenes in the game.

I also really loved the scene when they show Cassandra reading Swords and Shields. I don't think I genuinely laughed that hard in a game before. Any time a game can make me feel anything, I call that a success.

I also really loved the scene between the Inquisitor and Corypheus in the initial meeting at Haven. That scene was really well done. And I absolutely loved the snarky response option the Inquisitor gives before launching the trebuchet.

You know really makes the Dawn will Come scene work for me? The fact that Mother Giselle succinctly states the point regarding faith, saying "Faith may have yet to find you, but it has already found them."

I am not the most religious man in the world, but that line resonated me, especially considering the first act of the game is all about whether or not I may be the "Herald of Andraste" in the end. For that moment, I believed I was, and it was glorious.

Funny thing, I never played DAO or DAII. So without the context and background, Hawke was easy to sacrifice. Hawke's appearance was like watching an actor you don't know doing a cameo in a TV show.

Given what I've heard here, I wish designers had been more careful about the impression that Hawke would leave on players new to the DA storyline. I mean, he's the hero who saved the world, and now seems perfectly comfortable in taking a backseat to my quest and letting me do the heavy lifting...

None of the scenes evoked a "Strong" emotional reaction out of me. Only one game ever has.

Although I was grinning like an idiot at the pay off to the Morrigan romance "He will be insufferably pleased with himself" & I found the Cassandra romance adorable. (Surprisingly my 2 favourite parts of the game & I don't typically care about romance sub-plots)

The majority of the cast were likeable enough, the companion quests were pretty well done & SOME of the main quests were fairly interesting [here in lies the abyss & what pride has wrought] but at it's best the strongest reaction DA:I got out of me was "Well that was interesting/solid storytelling"

It's probably because I found the majority of the game ranged from "This is Fine but nothing special" to "Boring waste of my time."

Personally I prefer it when a game has an interesting plot rather than attempts at emotional manipulation.

IMO Bioware never go far/extreme enough to evoke an emotional reaction out of me & they never do it with Main characters.

For Example It would take something like Kieran die in Morrigans arms, then having Flemeth force her to kill her Warden & then after having everything she ever loved die in her arms finally becoming possessed.

The writers would have to ABSOLUTELY DESTROY our favourite characters, RIP THEM TO SHREDS right before our eyes. Crush their hopes, dreams & Smash everything they ever loved to pieces. This would get the feels going & I hope they do that in future titles!

A lot of scenes gave me the feels, but Dorian's coversation with his father and talking to Varric after Hawke gives his life to help me and my team. Giving him a hug made me feel a little bit better though. :(

I think it's very unfortunate that the writers would have to go this far to evoke some kind of emotion out of people. This kind of tactic doesn't drag out any kind of positive response from me personally. More than anything, annoyance is the only emotion I'd experience. Like, great, they're all crushed. I'll just go watch something else to wash the taste out of my brain.

I think one of the deeper sad moments for me was Dorian's confrontation with his Father. I know in our world, there are people out there who try to change others based upon their preferences, but seeing that it exists in this beautiful world made by Bioware was just horrifying.

I was very eager to agree with Dorian and just walk out as quickly as possible.

The crying scene that takes the prize is when Cassandra informed my Inquisitor she's going to be named Divine, which means She and Xarovin will most likely end.

I completed that first playthrough on the 26th/27th. And I'm still in shock about that happening. As I've said in other threads, I'm only just started my 2nd playthrough. That hit me deep, and I applaud Bioware for being able to create a moment that would do that for me. I'm bitter for that happening at all, but still.

If that's your impression of Hawke, they did a very poor job indeed. Hawke is basically the unluckiest person alive, watching everything s/he touches turn to crap.

"I'll have to send a letter to Merrill....."

Freakin' decision. Hawke isn't a Warden though......I'm still haunted by that line.

Everyone singing after Haven...I found that so touching and profound. No tears, but it was a moment of the game that felt very inspiring and powerful. Actually, in that moment I felt, 'wow, this is epic'. And I knew I'd love this game. I also loved the Wicked Grace (card game night) scene with everyone just having fun and hanging out. I found it really beautiful and touching; and those moments are what Bioware does best, in my opinion.

My female Trevelyan was nice to everyone so she had positive relationships with all parrty members, but there were some nice friendship moments that were touching. Solas was quite sweet and, on a couple occassions, pointed out how much he respected my Inquisitor. I think my Inquisitor was always quite touched and he was made a point of telling her that she wasn't what he had expected. It all felt so organic and was just nice.  I also had a sweet scene with Cassandra where they both sort of affirm their friendship in a 'hey, are we friends?' 'yeah, i guess we are' sort of way. I loved that moment. Dorian was also rather adorable and always teasing my Inquistor in a brotherly way.

I am still milking this game for every moment and I've just felt touched during so many moments. Maybe I'm just sentimental? Warden Alistair talking about his love of my Cousland Warden was also moving too me.

The moment I realised that beyond all ambition Morrigan loved her son. Morrigan! Of all people. Those were... unexpected tears.

And strangely enough, the ending.

I hate goodbyes.

I didn't shed any tears this game. I think that's more to do with the series continually shifting locations, so my connection to people isn't as deep as it is in the Mass Effect series (the Quarian/Geth moment stayed with me for a long time). The most moving decision was probably have been the Hawke/Loghain decision. I didn't like the idea of Merrill being alone, but someone had to rebuild the Wardens. Varric really brings this one home afterwards.

Morrigan did have a lot of scenes that brought the feels though.

Frankly, all the moving moments were the ones which involved people from past games. Even seeing what Leliana was becoming was harsh for me. I just like seeing recurring characters because it makes the bond feel deeper.

I generally don't cry about any form of media, but there were definetely some moments that were very touching, such as Morrigan pleading for her son's life, Varric's reaction to Hawke's death (that I'll only ever see on youtube, fortunately if I stick with stories I've actually played, I'll have Stroud and Loghain to sacrifice, but not have to choose between Alistair and Hawke. I'd miss Alistair).

Someone else mentioned the wartable text with the former slave buying an ale with his own money, that one was really powerful to me as well.

What was actually the most touching to me, though, isn't actually in the game itself. It's in the credits, of all things: BioWare's thanks to the fan community and using the #iPlayBioWare hashtag. That was a great little reminder of how great the community has generally been while clamoring for any little scrap of info about this game.

The whole sequence post-Haven, the song to finding Skyhold I found very powerful and moving.  The music in DA:I is incredible.  I think the other thing that kind of got me (in a happy way!) was right at the end celebration, where Dorian told me that he was planning to stay at Skyhold after all, because Tevinter 'lacks the presence of my best and only friend.'  I really didn't know how I'd like Dorian going into the game but I absolutely love him.  Happy tears!

Nothing in a game will probably ever wreck me as much as the end of DA:O (I sincerely hope).  In my heart of hearts I think my Cousland would have sacrificed herself rather than ask Alistair to betray all his values, but I've never managed to actually play it through.  I start, and then I get to the part where you're saying goodbye, and the dog knows.  He knows you're not coming back, and it just kills me and I have to stop playing.  Whoever wrote that bit, you are evil and I hope you are proud of yourself for being a terrible person. /kiddingmostly

So glad I made Alistair king though, or I expect I'd have smashed my PC to bits when I hit the Fade.

That scene wasn't even warmed up and long enough to make me feel anything. On paper this should have had a bigger impact than David in ME2.
