I got to Skyhold and found that only some but not all of my party members had their specialization trees unlocked. Does anyone know if unlocking party members specialization trees are also tied to their approval rating of you?

Party members specializations unlock when you reach skyhold and a certain point of approval with that party member.

I don't think it's approval based. It triggered after taking each character out into the field in a party after Skyhold. If approval is involved, then it is very generous with how much people need to like you.

That makes more sense, because in one playthrough when [spoiler] happened, once in SKyhold, Cassandra,Dorian(Just got him so his approval is low),and Varric(who where in my party during[spoiler]) had their specialization unlocked. Same playthrough,Sera was in the wrong spot in Skyhold so I traveled to Hinterlands with Sera, went back,and she had her specialization
Another playthrough it was Blackwall,Solas,and Sera

Maybe it's kind of buggy then how it unlocks? I have not left skyhold since getting there, but specializations are unlocked for a few of the party members. Solas's and Varric's specializations are locked and I thought I had a real high approval from them, yet Cassandra's is unlocked and I thought she hated me. I try taking out the different party members into the field and see if that unlocks them. Thanks.
