BioWare surely went for gender equality with this game.

Proof?

According to PC Gamer, "women are the largest gaming demographic for PC role-playing games (54 percent)"

Huh? Interesting. Guess I'm wrong about the statistics. My point still stands though.

But Cassandra doesn't look like a man at all

Open your eyes and look again she looks more manlier than any man in the game, if I romanced her I'd be taking a serious look at my sexual persuasion.

A mens fashion model?

7d519fc9ce62404b79a84d2845e07f6c.jpg

Like a standard female fashion model with strong features and high cheekbones. The only thing she's missing is the pouty lips.

Personalitywise, she is hard on the outside, but soft on the inside. Just like Morrigan, Miranda, Jaheira, Isabela, etc.

If I were you, I would complain that females and homosexuals get all the quirky love interests. Cass and Josie are a little boring, to be honest.

Those are the first meaningful statistics on this I've ever seen because they specify beyond "anyone who plays games ever."  Unless, they are counting Farmville as an RPG.  <_< In that case, it's meaningless.

Yes even Iron Bull. Also just because she manlier doesn't automatically make Iron Bull a princess.

Yes, how silly of me to focus on such frivolous things like details. You claimed that her features were masculine and then compared her to a transgender man. I've asked which features because I disagree and you have not been able to give me anything. It's not hair, so what is it? Her eyes? Her nose? Her jaw? Which features are masculine? Because I'm not seeing it outside of her jawline and her haircut.

Excuse me, what would you like me to say? That Cassandra embodies all that is feminine?

Because sorry, I can't - and I don't think anyone can. As I said, she has been built from ground up to be an "iron lady", which is PERFECTLY FINE, as I am not degrading or devaluing her character at all - but I can hardly say her entire character is feminine.

Blame hundreds of years of patriarchy if that's what you want to do - apparently men were programmed NOT to find feminine a character like Cassandra. Sorry.

Cassandra seems more like a man living as a man.

Looks like somebody's submitted to the Qun.

Interesting how your warrior maid is basically a real "maid" with an armor. Perfect curly hair and perfect white skin. Yeah. That's definitely Cass right there.

Also, Josephine. Yeah, "sexy" librarian. Ok.

The fact you don't find them attractive does not mean they don't fulfill the tropes.

But I get where you're coming from now. You downloaded the mod that made Isabella white didn't you?

Literally a page ago you were saying that she's designed to look like a woman trying to pass for a man.

No. What I want from you and the other people calling her masculine is to tell me what EXACTLY is masculine about her. No one has done that yet. Its been all hyperbole.

Honestly let's boil down this thread for everyone.

This isn't about Cassandra being a devout Andrastian, the Right Hand of the Divine, and seeking reform or her opinions.
This also isn't about Josephine and her politics, diplomatic approach to problems, or support for Celene.

It's not even their voices, which could attribute to their character.

This is about how Cassandra and Josephine look, and doesn't satisfy them.
A discussion about how manly Cassandra looks. Not even about her character, just looks.

You're basically boiling down her romance arc, plot, and tossing it aside because she's not 'attractive' to you.
That if a woman had Cassandra's appearance or similar to her, she'd be a man. Because females to you, are only attractive things.

That's disgusting.

Its not my fault that the devs made Cass the manliest looking character in the game.

You boiled that down wrong what this thread is about is that everyone bar hetro males has an attractive romancable option. What is wrong with wanting to be included?

You complain about Josephine not being a real LI because she's not a companion and in the same sentence you ask for Leliana who is also not a companion to be a LI

You have the exact same number of romances as the previous dragon age games and Josephine is as girly as they come.

I can't take your comments seriously given the subject of your avatar and sig.

That said all I really wanted was for the OP to admit that he's co-opting "gender equality" as a shield for what he really feels. I don't think he's wrong for feeling that way like some of you do but I hate the dishonesty. Most people here bullshits when it serves them and this place practically breeds a persecution complex. So, I'm out. This forum has gotten to the point where most posts disgust me and I can find other ways to interact with the devs.

Pal, he literally just said Cassandra wasn't attractive because she didn't have, quote, "perfect white skin". I calls 'em as I sees 'em.

The root of all this is that you didn't get to romance the type of woman you like, not gender equality. If Sera was available for you and more conventionally attractive I frankly don't believe this thread would exist at all. Where were your posts about gender equality back when ME had it skewed towards straight males? Why isn't your solution just to cut down the female romance options by two? Why aren't you complaining that gay males or lesbian females don't get as many options as straight females? Why don't you just admit that this is not about gender equality at all and it's all about how you didn't get the type of romance-able characters you wanted, because let's face it this is just simple ressentiment.

Of course not. It was exactly my point, wasn't it? "If Sera was available and more attractive". Yes. That's the whole point I am making. Too bad that we are not debating with "IFs".

So yeah, "If the things I don't like were not in this game, I would not be whining". What a surprise.

Also, to answer your other questions - of course, every demographic tend to defend its own interests. There were other demographics which I don't represent protesting when there were less options for whoever was not straight male, and it bore results: look at more recent games.

So yeah, again, what a news! People tend to defend their interests!

The fact you don't find them attractive does not mean they don't fulfill the tropes.

But I get where you're coming from now. You downloaded the mod that made Isabella white didn't you?

I am not even going to answer to this. Now I am also labeled as racist. Seriously, this is stupid.

No. What I want from you and the other people calling her masculine is to tell me what EXACTLY is masculine about her. No one has done that yet. Its been all hyperbole.

Can you list exactly everything that makes, say, Miranda, feminine? Cause it's pretty much the same thing.

I can try to summarize with this: her attitude, her behavior, her looks (which are NEEDED to be like that because of the role she covers in the game), her way of speech, are all typically associated with male characters because this is how it's been since the dawn of time.

How much does her catsuit have to do with it?  (Thank god for that alternate appearance pack that gave her armor).
