Crafting UI is terrible and cumbersome (with suggestions on how to fix)

So I really like the idea behind crafting system in the game, but using it is cumbersome, in particular:

1. You really should be able to craft & upgrade equipment from the same place, having to go back and forth between two tables to do so is pretty annoying.

2. Make the UI easier to use, for example let's say I want to craft an upgrade for a dagger, I would have to look through my inventory find what can be upgraded, go to the crafting table try crafting something, go to the upgrade table find that I can't put the dagger handle I just made into the dagger for some reason (no clue why), go back to the crafting table try to make a different grip, go back to the upgrade table finally put in the grip ...  repeat for each item for up to 10 characters, while keeping track of who is using what and what materials I still have left.

Instead it would be nice if you could say

1. Go to the crafting table select the dagger I want to upgrade

2. Selecting it would give me a list of all the upgrades I already have that could be put into it, as well as schematics I could use to craft a new upgrade for it

3. If I see an upgrade I want to use I could install it then and there

4. If I choose to craft a new upgrade I just pick a schematic from the list, do the crafting stuff and have it automatically installed afterwards.

3. It seems like you maybe have to unequip stuff to upgrade it (definitely do for Bianca, at least). Why? This makes no sense.

Small note, you don't have to unequip anything to modify it. You just use the arrows in the top right, by your characters name, to scroll to the companion who is currently using/wearing the gear you want to upgrade.

Well that's better then, but still kind of silly and cumbersome. Instead maybe not do that, and just mention who it's equipped to?

Or even just put a little icon with the character who has its face or something?

Honestly that feature doesn't bother me, in the slightest. Scrolling across means I get to actually see the character the armor is on, and how the appearance physically changes, depending on the upgrade, in real time.

I agree some of the menus are counter-intuitive, but it became apparent to me (particularly for armor), that specific gear names are what you should match, rather than gear type. Apprentice to apprentice, scout to scout etc. It could have been thought out better, and the menus are so obviously intended for consoles it's painful... but I've more complaints about the ready availability of crafting materials, than the act of crafting itself.

Having to go back and forth between the two benches is extraordinarily cumbersome especially if you're try to craft stuff for multiple characters.

Really there's no reason why you shouldn't able to craft, install upgrades, and equip characters from the same UI.

Nor is there any reason why it shouldn't be able to clearly indicate what upgrades go to what equipment.

I mean not even being for consoles is a good excuse, because you could still make all that work fine for console menu

I mean all you need is

Have two main tabs - one for Weapons/Armor, one for Schmatics

Each is subdivided into their usual sub types

1. Select Weapon/Armor Schematic -> Craft -> Do you want to equip? -> If yes pick character

2. Select Upgrade Schematic -> Craft - Do you want to install? -> If yes pick weapon/armor to install to

3. Select Item -> 3a) Equip; 3b) Install Upgrade; 3c) Craft upgrade

3a. -> Select character to equip

3b -> Select Upgrade to Install

3c -> Select Schematic to craft -> Craft -> Install to Item

I mean that makes things easier for both PC and Console users.

No having to keep track of what you crafted for who

No having to run back and forth between benches to craft and install upgrade

No having to wonder whether you can put Upgrade X into Item Y.
