Im thinking of Mage Necromancer, never played mage before always played the defensive swordsmen. What class is superior?

Apparently Mage Knight-Enchanter is OP.

Warriors are pretty invincible (especially if you go Champion), mages are beasts. Tempests can be incredibly amazing.

If you don't mind being tank, then Champions are for you. They are very resilient and if you happen to craft a sword that gives you guard on every hit, then you'll be pretty much invincible.

Knight Enchanter mage is just out of league. They're invincible for as long they can keep striking. Combine it with Dorian as a Necromancer and then you have a party to be reckoned with. The Hard difficulty was a walk in the park since I unlocked the specializations.

This. I watched a person playing KE solo a dragon on Hard.

You have special options in quite a few story scenes if you are a mage. There are also special options for qunari.

Knight Enchanter.

Spec and play it right and you'll be unkillable.  Even dragons may as well just hand over their loot and achievements when they see you coming.

Bianca. my god the mod's i given that crossbow, forgot classes that baby dishes out over 90 damage at over 100 DPS, generates 3 guard, +23 cric's +23 flanking plus 50 damage to living targets and probably other **** i can't think of right now. all this at lvl 14.

Bianca, If it's alive, It's dead.

Have yet to find any base choices that are OP; perhaps Specializations?

I guess Knight Enchanter, the way people constantly call it overpowered. But I have not tried one yet.

I have played warrior and rogues and can say that rogues are only really good later on if you spec long-range, or go full Tempest. Too many enemies have aoe attacks and 360 range on their close-range weapons to make melee rogues viable. Doesn't mean you can't try but you won't be OP.  Warrior are good no matter what really, I found anyway.

I may get flak for suggesting this option but a DW rogue assassin specced up right and with guard on hit weapons / armour is obscene.

I generate guard like nobody's business and being able to kill adds in one ability is kinda handy.

Dagger rogues are very nasty. It's all about the mis-direction followed by big strikes.

Wouldnt say OP though.

all these answers are for multiplayer characters..I think the OP was asking about the 5 classes in the campaign game.

I would say warrior/champion. I rolled archer but I often take control of Blackwall because he is practically invincible.

Knight Enchanter definitely. I regret that I chose this specialization. Combat is too easy right now

Maybe I spec it wrong by me and Vivi are KE yet we always need potions but Dorian (necromancer) is 100% HP :\

Knight Enchanters and S&B Warriors, especially Champions, are solo'ing kings. Rift Mage is amazing in a group, as is Tempest. I haven't tried either of those solo yet.

Issue is, the AI is particularly incompetent at handling Knight Enchanters. Necromancers are generally simpler to play, and easier to manage, since they have health regeneration in-combat.

We're talking about the specializations.

Being a mage always affects nearly everything in a Dragon Age game.

For your playable character if you went mage then KE. If you went warrior then sword & board champion. I went warrior and thus used champion. Then subsequently would have blackwall in my group + vivi + varic. Nightmare is a joke with that composition. The combination of champion/warrior taunts and near perma guard with the right enchantments + knight enchanter barrier (that can last FOREVER if you use barrier upgrade rings) basically make your party invincible. Your DPS will not be as high as some other groups, but it is very rare (if ever) that an enemy will get through your barrier/guards to actually even damage your health.
