I've been searching and searching all through the options and I cannot find a way to turn off my mic in game or find a push to talk feature (which they said would be included).

I want to chat with my buddies on TS and the likes, but don't want other random strangers listening to every word I say.

Does anyone know of a way to mute the in game microphone?

There has to be a way...

You should never buy a headset, or mic, that doesn't have an in-line switch.

You didn't read my post at all.

I want to chat to my friends on TS while I play.

So far as I'm aware, there's no way to mute your own mic through in-game options.

There is no current way.  I run into the same exact problem.

How long was this in development, and MP wasnt an afterthought?

I have a mic that comes with my Creative Blaster sound card that can be muted easily with the custom software

If you mute everyone in game with you your mic wont send anything. Can't hear your team but can teamspeak

Yeah, why would you want to communicate in a co-op game?

People like this are why PUGs are failed on the fifth stage.

If you have two sound cards and are using Windows 7, it is possible to completely disable your mic in DAMP by setting the port you're not using to the default communication device. Then, go into your third party program and change your input device to the port you are actually using. This may be possible with only one soundcard, provided there are multiple input ports, but I haven't tried it that way.

Please note that this completely disables mic capability in DAMP, so if you PuG a lot, it's probably not the best way to go. However, if, like me, you play only with friends who can communicate outside of DAMP, it works fine.

The method I used for PvZ Garden Warfare works with this game as well:

Right click speaker icon in system tray.
Select Recording Devices.
Select a Recording Device other than your mic (maybe Stereo Mix?).
Right click it and select Set as Default Communications Device.
Right click it and select Properties.
Select the Levels Tab at the top.
Click the icon next to the slider to mute it.
Click OK.
