I was wondering what everyone who uses an AW builds for perilous. For me, I am currently using Chain lightning, Fade Step, Fade Cloak, and Sword. I have been considering using abyss, or stone first.

If Abyss is the 'vortex' power, then that with chain lightning and stone fist is an awesome combo .. whole groups are wiped out quickly

Edit: I only use the sword when enemies get close, and use him as an aoe caster for Perilous.

I played my AW vanguard build enough now (sword, lightning, step and cloak) and promoted him so I can use abyss and stone fist instead. I'm kinda sick of the sword to be honest, sounds annoying and handles like crap.

I'm looking forward to trying out your AW vanguard spec, just to start. Could you post a list of your build choices and any suggestions for passives?

Depends on your playstyle.

If you want to get close and dirty, get lightning, fade cloak, fade step and spirit blade. The strategy is to Lightning > Fade Step > Fade Cloak on arrival > hack away with Spirit Blade. When in the middle of a group, you basically spam Fade Cloak and Spirit Blade with a bit of Lightning when available. It's amazing if you have someone to get the aggro, you'll be the last one standing 95% of the time. I want to thank Cirvante for making me realize this Novaguard build.

If you want to be more secure, get pull of the abyss, lightning, fade cloak and stone fist. The stragey is Pull of the Abyss to pull everyone in and weaken them > Lightning to detonate > Stone Fist to further incapacitate. Use Fade Cloak only when they close in. It's also an amazing build, you'll destroy groups like there's no tomorrow but it'll be a bit harder on bosses.

Thanks for that! Just unlocked him last night and itching to try out. I prefer mobility builds on most of my characters, regardless of the game, so Vanguard Elven Jedi it is...

Best I've come up with is this:

Mentalism tree
1A 1B+ 1C
2A 2B
3A 3B 3C
-- 4B
5B 5C

Elemental tree
-- 1B+
2A 2B 2C+
3A 3B 3C

Where "B" represent the middle choice and "+" represent the upgrade.

The strategy is to Lightning > Fade Step > Fade Cloak on arrival > hack away with Spirit Blade. When in the middle of a group, you basically spam Fade Cloak and Spirit Blade with a bit of Lightning when available. Just be careful of archers, you're in great luck with someone pulling the aggro like a Templar or Legionnaire.

I'm not Cirvante but I've played a lot with his idea and this is the best I came up with.

The one that gives you barrier obviously, then anything with mana regen, guardian spirit and the one that makes your barrier stronger. Get the one that reduces cooldowns by 0.5s from attacking. When you're in a crowd hitting multiple enemies, every hit reduces cooldown of Fade Cloak, allowing you to spam it.
