Did you do the quest where you meet Hawke's Warden contact? That's when you get Cassandra's quest and are able to romance her.

For me it was Cassandra's gift quest that hung up the romance. I was trying to save her dignity... oh well.

For a long while I thought i screwed up her relationship too. I kept flirting with her and stuff and then i felt the relationship wasn't going anywhere for some reason after she gave me her two "personal missions". I did do one (kill escaped mages in specific locations) but not the other one (seek out the missing seekers through using the WAR TABLE). Eventually after realizing she had two "personal missions" and did them both I finally gotten a cinematic where she wanted to address the issue of me flirting with her when my character was a woman. I admit sometimes I easily missing things, cannot read the tiny print in JOURNAL section under the INNER CIRCLE part and my WAR TABLE was infested with missions so it was easy to not know or see Cassandra's WAR TABLE mission which needs to be done for the romance.

. I would advise you to talk to her every chance you get, to bump up your approval. The higher the approval the more special romance options you get.

 

Is this true?  I thought there was one "love scene" for the romance.  What else do you get at high approval that you don't at lower approval if you're romancing her?

What? You get the cutscene where she address the flirting issue even though your PC is a woman?   Does this really happen? I've never heard of it.

It happens, but only to reject you since she's straight. She friendzones you hard!

Don't worry.  I thought I had screwed it up, got the 'my friend' & 'you're not paying attention' lines.  Didn't even trigger the winter palace dance scene.  This happened because I didn't start picking romance options until well into the game.  Still got the 'ideal' quest, as far as I can tell it made no difference.

Yea, I was gobsmacked when my female Qunari got that cutscene.  So in character for Cass, though.
