@ Dragoonlordz: Yeah, i did not mean Skyhold but i dunno the name of the place. Temple of Sacred ashes was reduced to a crater during conclave.

And ofcourse i let Morrigan dive in, Looking around at the temple statues i already had a feeling who it was all about.

My Inquisitor Alysana Lavellan drank from the Well of Sorrows.

It went something like this(images inbound)-

Spoiler

"Bent over face down ass up so not well, presumably"- Hawke, if she were there to make a quip

How did other people speak to the voice in the well? I felt I had to demand their obedience and help because the ancient elven guardian made it a point to emphasize that you cannot show doubt when relating to the well of sorrows. I wonder if the outcome of that in which my protagonist was knocked to knees by the force of absorbing it's power was the best outcome, glowing red mark with blue orbs circling. I wonder if how you sought it's help will impact something in future.

No I let morrigan drink from it and then i kinda felt bad that she had all that power (I don't trust her.) But I didn't want to be controlled by Mythal. Then when we found out who her mother is for sure I laughed my ass off.

I couldn't allow her to drink it from a meta-gaming perspective since she and my warden were lovers, both alive and they had a child to raise so couldn't put her at more risk than felt was necessary. It may turn out in the end she could be worse off without that power but I was not yet at this time willing to take that risk.

Isnt there an option to attack Flemeth at the shrine? Or do I remember wrongly?

Not sure, I drank from the well so I could not do so myself in the fade. I know Morrigan tried to attack her by the alter but could not if she drank from the well and I know Morrigan won't be able to attack her in the fade because I was controlled to hold her back. Maybe Morrigan is controlled to hold you back by the alter if there is an option to attack her as the inquisitor...I don't know. Seems like a Bioware sort of thing to do, present an option in multiple ways but restrict player from carrying it out in the same way even if use different characters to do the same thing to prevent it.

I let Morrigan. I'm not a fan of complete unknowns like that, Morrigan knew more about it and I have a bad habit of trusting her(I did the dark ritual expecting her to use the ogb to fight flemeth). Though the trust hasn't been misplaced yet...

Question: if the inquisitor drinks do they become the dragon?

I played a human mage and let Morrigan have the Well.

I didn't entirely trust Morrigan, but I figured that as the Inquisitor I should probably not bind myself to an unknown force.

I also thought she might be mad at me and leave, and I still could use her help.

I figured if she was willing to bind herself to an unknown force, than good luck with that (and later was like LOL, figures it would be AWFUL for her)

I thought if I gave it to her and she left, I'd just have to figure things out without it. I couldn't even be sure we needed it for anything in the first place.

I also thought if I gave it to her, she'd be more likely to stick around and actually help.

I did think *someone* should take it, though, because it seemed a shame to let that much Truth be lost forever.

Flemeth will ask you to tame a dragon at the altar of Mythal.

My Inquisitor didn't know or trust Morrigan and this choice came totally out of nowhere so he just drank the water and hoped for the best... tbh I found this to be the most annoying point in the story, since we were given no frame of reference and had zero information on what this "Well" was or what the choice meant.  I had not spoken to Morrigan once before she decided to barge into the war room and force her way into my group of advisors, and this was the result... more scheming and half-truths, along with snide comments when you don't take her word for it (again, the Inquisitor has absolutely no reason to agree with anything she suggests at this point...).  Whatever.  I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that something like this would happen.

In fact, I was hoping there would be an option to refuse this path outright, since we had no information to work with, but I guess there was no room for such an option.

First play through I let Morrigan do it because I was hoping it would finally kill her.

Disappointed to say the least.

Your not a shapeshifter so no (kind of annoying shapeshifter was not a skill tree option for mages), only Morrigan can become the dragon.

The inquisitor merely gains control of a dragon.

Well I've seen other posts regarding this issue so maybe they've just passed this topic :b

Regarding the main question...

Dunno

I think If you're an elf, there's no matter in drinking it.

You are an elf, and serving your ancestors and the god of old would bee something honorable.

But I played a human. and up to that point of the game, I considered myself as 'the Herald of Andraste'.

Even thought the mark was given as an accident, I thought it was through the 'mysterious act of god'. Ya know? (argh it's getting religious :(  )

So drinking from the well, forever bound to an ancient demi-god, was not an option.

( and Solas states this : " he does not think they were gods, but he doesn't oppose they existed)

-------------------------

In a side note, I love family drama,

and seeing the irony in morrigan's arrogance and her struggle to be free from her mother actually lead her being a slave of flemmeth

forever...  was cruel... but also interesting.

Hmm, it's funny because I played the same way! My female human believed she is the chosen one and she was deeply religious, but she still drank from the well.

Her train of thought were the following:

1. She did not know Morrigan at all. If she could've given the power to one of her trusted companion, she would've, but why Morrigan? She proved to have valuable knowledge, but she also proved she is willing to mislead me. I tried my best not to include my own opinion on Morrigan, but the fact she screwed me over twice already, causing me trust issues, did not help my Inquisitor either.

2. She IS the chosen one, so isn't it supposed to be her to take this great burden? The Maker and/or Andraste helped her so far and led her here; they obviously trusted her, so it was somewhat safe to assume they wouldn't let her to be a slave of some sort of other god. Also, she was not afraid to gave her life for the cause, so even if it were made her to be a ticking bomb, she would've gladly take it if it meant she can restore order and deliver the judgement of the Maker and/or Andraste open the fallen magister.

How did people destroy the Well? I tried again last night and there were only two options. Morrigan and Inquisitor. I don't want Morrigan bound to anything, but herself, her son, and the Warden. And I sure as hell don't want the leader of the Inquisition bound to an Elvhen deity.

I did the ritual in the Temple and sided with the Elvhen when the choice came up. Do I have to kill the Elvhen to be able to destroy the Well?

Yes, and it's one of those important choices that I worry Bioware will just leave hanging in the future. I kind of regret actually doing it when I think about the servitude that could fall upon the inquisitor, but I did it because she was a Dalish elf and I wanted to feel more elfy.

I drank the sleg in Hunted: Demon's Forge.

I drank from the well in DA:I.

Maybe in the next game that has a "drink this for power" option I will show some restraint.

Letting Morrigan drink from it was gloriously fulfilling after her having sex with my dear alistair and all her manipulation in DAO. Controlled by her mother? Priceless. AHHHH

Yes. I'm fairly certain there was. Or maybe it was someone else? I think it was her.

If you try to attack Flemeth at the shrine after Morrigan drinks from the Well, Flemeth forces Morrigan to clothesline you. It's a hilarious scene. Morrigan apologizes, of course, and you cant attack her if you drink because well, you're her slave.

There is yes, if you didn't drink from the Well.  She (Flemeth) forces Morrigan to defend her from the Inquisitor.  Its quick.  Flemeth basically warns you not to push your luck.

If you did drink from the Well, the option isn't there.  Well I assumed it was because I'd drank from the Well.  The option wasn't available to my Inquisitor Adaar.

If you drink from the Well of Sorrows, Morrigan attempts to move towards Flemeth, but Flemeth stops her by making you stop Morrigan.

Nope!

In my first (finished) playthrough I let Morrigan drink. I did hesitate but I let her, that's what my Inquisitor would have done. In my second playthrough, however (and with another World State as well) I'll let my Inquisitor drink (and that Inquisitor will be a bit "darker" as well, or at least harsher in her choices and replies).

I have two full play throughs to enjoy both outcomes.  Problem solved :D

My first playthrough however I drank from it.  Morrigan is a gal who thought it was a great idea to create a god baby...  that is more than enough psycho for me to not also let her drink from a God well m'kay?  I trust myself more than I would trust her.

Could one become immortal through the binding?

Bound to another's will. What power do you gain that is worth that? To control a Dragon for a single use?
Give up your freewill so another can have it for their own purpose. Indoctrination..?
