If you drink from the Well of Sorrows, Morrigan attempts to move towards Flemeth, but Flemeth stops her by making you stop Morrigan.
That's scenario I played through, yes. The other I saw on YouTube.

Could one become immortal through the binding?
I don't think so. As the Well was the place that the servants (high priests/esses?) used to pass their knowledge on to their successors, I infer that htey did so when about to die. I don't think immortality was part of the package.

But Abelas and Flemeth said that anyone who drink the well will serve Mythal for eternity.
He says "forever bound" right after saying "when each servant of Mythal reached the end of their years. they would pass on their knowledge through this," meaning the Well.
Now, the elves of Arlathan were immortal. Abelas references this when pointing out that the Well may be to much for "a mortal (you, or Morrigan) to handle." But that doesn't mean that drinking from the Well is going to make you ageless. The elvehan servants of Mythal weren't immortal because they were bound to Mythal, they were immortal because they were elvehan. When added together with the other statements, it seems clear to me that "Forever bound" means you can't undo it. Its permanent.
My Inquisitor only has the choices to drink from the well or Morrigan drinks it, there's no 3rd option to destroy the well?

Same here. Which is why I let the power hungry, naive Witch of the Wilds drink from it instead.
Regardless no one is Flemeth's mind slave now since she died
What I'm wondering is what would happen if you gargled it and spit it back into the well?
Regardless no one is Flemeth's mind slave now since she died
I'm going to remain on the fence about this until its confirmed.
She would've died if you gargled it

They are bound to Mythal who is basically a spirit of some kind. Flemeth is nothing more than Mythal and some woman who binded with Mythal.
Ya but if anything Solas is now Mythal on top of being Fen'Harel, and Solas is my buddy in all my playthroughs so far, except one where he's my LI, so either way it's a stepup from being bound to Flemeth. Plus I continue to think there's a way to resist the binding, such as sheer raw force of will and/or magical power if applicable. Or meeting the HoF, becoming friends and asking her to kick Mythal's ass until she agrees to let me go. Also, speaking of letting go, I'm fairly certain I heard Flemeth say I was free now
Well, of course the Inquisitor drank from the well! Unlimited knowledge and unknown power? Sounds good to me. Now she hears voices in her had and is Flemeths minion. whoops.
Played as a pro-elf Dalish Inquisitor, so I basically went to Morrigan and said, "Uh-uh-uh, shem. No ancient elven knowledge for you." ![]()
Not sure about my current m!Qunari playthrough, though. Will probably let Morrigan take a dip, as much as I personally don't like it. RP reasons and the such.
I let my Lavellan drink. As an elf it only seemed fitting. Yes Morrigan may have been better equipped to handle whatever she thought was gonna happen (or so she says anyway) but... she's human, and this is about as elven as it gets. It wasn't right if she drank it.
Next PT I'll let Morrigan drink though, as I won't be playing an elf in that one.
But Abelas and Flemeth said that anyone who drink the well will serve Mythal for eternity.
Because elves are inmortals, it is one of the traits of their kind, you can have an interesting conversation with Solas about it. For them, "their entire life" and "eternity" are the same unless someone kill the elf. They don´t die of natural death as they don´t have a lifespam, but they can be killed.
Does solas get pissed to any race or only elfs ? cos it could be becouse dalish were slaves to the elder gods.
Also what consequences do you guys predict this can have for the next game ? i wanted morrigan to get the knowledge but after going through the whole origins to get her FREE of her mother influence binding her to her will was cruel, though i believe is the "not offcial" cannon by bioware, becouse that makes morrigan turn into a dragon something she revealed in origins that she couldnt do as her mother didnt teach her, so morrigan get stronger, but is a pet. and unlike morrigan it seems her others sisters were more willing to acept flemeth offer. morrigan was the wild card, but flameth is the one that grew her that way, i wonder....was it on purpose ?
Also binding morrigan to flemeth must have consequences for the hof warden who romanced her.
Regardless no one is Flemeth's mind slave now since she died
Not flemeth , its mythal, the spirit, you are still bound to him/her/it ,flemeth ws just a vessel

Absolutely none that matters. A 30 second conversation or a line refering it.
Just take a look at EA/Bioware´s approach on "consequences" taken on past games. You have what would be the biggest decision ever in the game, the Dark Ritual, and there you have the consequences of performing it: nothing, and then something happens to make it as it would have never happened.
Yeah but both the comics featuring morrigan sister and the games tell us flemeth was preparing morrigan (or her daughters) to protect the older knowledge....so it kinda is morrigan main goal to DRINK from that well, she turns to a dragon after all something she could not in origins as referenced in dialogue as it was a knowldge her mother had not passed on to her, but here she does, so maybe its necessary, hence why i said (not oficial) but bioware favored canon plot line.
Unless Elven i dont thing it's thje inquisitor job to hold such knowledge, it makes them dangerous. Morrigan sister was preserving dragons, while you inquisitor was slaying them left and right, solas damn the wardens for killing elder gods corrupted before sth.
If the price of drinking from the well is being enslaved to flemeth- I sort of have to wonder: why not let corypheus drink from it?
Because that would break the storyline quests.
I drank from the well because I didn't think the game would let me. That's it. I just wanted to see if it would. I was pleasantly surprised when it let me, and then immediately unsurprised when it had no consequences thereafter.
It seems pretty clear that the desired canon is for Morrigan to drink.
First play through was a Qunari warrior. She didn't like the idea of being bound and paying a price so let Morrigan go ahead and do it. She was all about people being free.... if Mages wanted to be part of a Circle those mages should be able to, if they didn't want to they shouldn't be forced into a circle. Templars leashed with lyrium, not cool. Solas wanting to cavort with spirits okay.
Second play through was as Dalish Mage. I really paid attention to what various characters said. Solas really didn't object to her drinking it so I figured she would and then she was a bit surprised when he was so mad about it. I just couldn't see it going any other way with this character unless Solas strongly and vocally objected to her drinking it at the well, which he didn't. While she's not entirely sure what Mythal is I figure she doesn't really have a problem with being bound to an ancient elven "god". A bit disappointing that we didn't get more info, clues into the realities of the past or be able to shape shift into a dragon ourselves to fight Corypheus... or even just for the cool sake of something nifty to do after end game.
Third play through was a human warrior who considered herself the voice of the Maker. She went back and forth on the well. Finally it was up to the opinions of her most trusted inner circle who were with her. While Viv did have a point about not trusting Morrigan majority ruled and the Inquisitor reluctantly let Morrigan drink... besides my Inquisitor wasn't too keen on dealing with ancient elven "false gods", LOL.
