I drank from it. I was an Elf, so I figured it was my heritage and not Morigan's. I also was worried that Morigan drinking from it might mean a death sentence by the end of the game. I didn't want her to leave Kieran motherless, so I told her I'd make the sacrifice - whatever it was.

In the end, actually glad I made the decision. I like the idea of my Dalish being bound to Mythal.

Does solas get pissed to any race or only elfs ? cos it could be becouse dalish were slaves to the elder gods.

Solas gets mad at every race for drinking, at least on his friendship path. He doesn't want you to be a slave, elf or not. Have to wonder if what he does at the end frees you/Morrigan from the binding though. Questions questions.

Vivienne said I should drink it, then called me darling and stroked my ego. So I drank it.

Thanks Vivienne  <3

I didn't drink it the first time because, Solas ****** confused me.

He literally calls Morrigan a greedy pig who is power hungry. So I thought he must not approve of her drinking the well, so I went ahead and said I'd drink from it and then got disapproval. And I was like wtf, dialogue thanks for misleading me.

So I restarted the quest and had Morrigan drink it.

Only because in that playthrough my Elf saw Solas as some kind of teacher. Reminded him of their keeper and he was looking for guidance and he'd never do anything against Solas.

John that was a point I was going to make, I really wish Bioware would have put in the time for extra choice options. Beside the two. Like choosing a party member to drink from the well, or actually being able to destroy the well.

My Main Inquisitor Enesia, wanted the well destroyed. I took a lot of liberties with Enesia's backstory. And considering Morrigan broke his heart and tricked him into having a demon baby when he was a young Grey Warden he honestly didn't want her to have it. That and he didn't want it himself. He didn't think anyone should take from it all. But noooooo stupid Bioware and only two choice options these days.

Because that would break the storyline quests.

I drank from the well because I didn't think the game would let me. That's it. I just wanted to see if it would. I was pleasantly surprised when it let me, and then immediately unsurprised when it had no consequences thereafter.

It seems pretty clear that the desired canon is for Morrigan to drink.

LOL xD. Best response I have seen in weeks but yeah, I agree with you.

About what I have put on black: Considering you miss an story achievement if you let Morrigran drink I have my doubts on that affirmation. I don´t really think there is a canon choice for the Well part, and looking at Bioware´s past work with the Mass Effect saga and past Dragon Age games, I don´t even think that Bioware has a canon path in mind for its games.

I did on my Dalish mage. Solas wouldn't drink, he didn't want Morrigan to have it, but he still thought the well should be used. I didn't want Morrigan drinking up muh heritage either so I took the bullet.

Being Kate Mulgrew's slave isn't such a bad fate.

I let Morrigan drink it. After playing DA:O I was pretty trustful of her. I was glad I didn't drink it when i saw what happened to her and it was some pretty good character development for her.

I mean, all of my party members said it was a bad idea to drink it.

I tried to put the trusting Morrigan bit aside, since I was basically playing a character who didn't even know who she was before the Orlesian ball. From the perspective of a person who is not certain whether or not to trust her, I don't really trust the magic spirit pool either.

My Human Mage Inquisitor drank from the well. Morrigan hardly presents herself as anything other than an opportunist - when it suits her to leave The Winter Palace, she does. She sees the Inquisition as a means to an end, and only really introduces you to the Eluvian's to give you the idea she has more worth as an ally than she does. Her supposition as to what Corypheus is even after in the Arbor Wilds is wrong, yet insists that she knows more than she actually does and thus had value - so much so that she is the only person capable of truly being able to utilise the knowledge of the Well of Sorrows, which is complete hyperbole as she had no idea the Well even existed beforehand.

The fact she only translates enough Elvhen to whet your appetite made my Inquisitor even more suspicious - she had to tell you about the Well before you found out yourself or she'd have had no chance whatsoever of using the Well with you present. As I had the mage knowledge dialogue option available where I can "sense" the geas in the Well anyway, my Inquisitor thought she was the one that had to take responsibility for the Well, even reasoning that there would be definite consequences for it.

The current outcome was hardly dire, and while, no doubt we will revisit the decision in the future where it could have massive repercussions, my Inquisitor reasoned that she knew herself well enough that she would do her best to try and mitigate any damage it may cause through determination and willpower.

We also don't know the power of limitations of this geas - in theory FleMythal could have complete bodily control of you at the most inopportune time in the entire series so far, or she could merely have the power to strongly compel you to do something that you might be able to resist now you know she has real power over you. As for the Solas/Dread Wolf angle, it's possible the "reins" for the geas transfered to him when he whammied FleMythal, but again we don't actually know what he did to her - it could have been anything from stasis type spell to completely draining Flemeth of Mythal's spirit/power.

Second play through was as Dalish Mage.  I really paid attention to what various characters said.  Solas really didn't object to her drinking it so I figured she would and then she was a bit surprised when he was so mad about it.  I just couldn't see it going any other way with this character unless Solas strongly and vocally objected to her drinking it at the well, which he didn't.  While she's not entirely sure what Mythal is I figure she doesn't really have a problem with being bound to an ancient elven "god".  A bit disappointing that we didn't get more info, clues into the realities of the past or be able to shape shift into a dragon ourselves to fight Corypheus... or even just for the cool sake of something nifty to do after end game.

Am I understanding this right? Does Solas get super pissed at you for drinking from the Well even though he gives you no previous indication that he's going to do so?

Yes, Solas disapproves and claims he begged you not to drink, but he doesn't. I think it's a bug.

Huh. That's irritating, isn't it? If it's a bug, I wonder if that dialog is hiding the in the game files.

Solas approves because he would rather Morrigan be under a geas than the PC.
