E3 2014 (June 9, 2014):

-The next Mass Effect will take place in a whole new region of space.

-The world is vast and you can continue onto the horizon.

-Galaxy map will receive an overhaul.

-Space exploration will be receiving an overhaul in order to make space more of a "place" rather than a "thing."

Comicon 2014 (July 31, 2014):

-The new protagonist of the next Mass Effect will be a human male/female who appears to be a member of the N7 Program.

-The Mako will be returning, and overhauled, to provide an all new exploration-driven gameplay experience.

-The Mako will handle a lot better and the physics have been overhauled.

N7 Day 2014 (November 7, 2014):

-Introducing a lot of brand new concepts in the next Mass Effect.

-New species and planets varying from natural to mechanical.

-Exploration will be one of the main pillars of the next Mass Effect.

-Lots of new activities to explore and more functionality for the Mako.

-Exploring the vastness of space and new planets.

-This is the biggest Mass Effect yet (new locations, story, characters, etc.).

-The next Mass Effect is a game about choice (Mako just one component).

-The player is going to have a lot more tools when exploring, researching, scanning the environment, etc.

-The new protagonist becomes a hero throughout the new story instead of starting out as one (Ex: Shepard).

-Making the experience more immersive and not constantly taking the player out of the game with cut scenes, GUI, etc.

-There is a lot of conflict and new issues for the hero to resolve.

-An epic adventure and a personal journey.

-Dynamics between player and companions has evolved from previous games.

-Space is as important to explore as the rest of the game.

Note: This is information that BioWare has provided at the time of each event. Everything with pre-launch development has the potential to change. The thread will be updated accordingly. Yes, I know there is a "Known Features" thread. However, most of its information is antiquated and doesn't appear to be regularly updated. Instead of using google docs providing a hundred links to quotes, I'm just providing videos and information BioWare has felt important enough to talk about directly.

That's the plan. Hopefully this can be a useful resource so everybody is on the same page with what we know about the next Mass Effect.

Fantastic. Hopefully the compilation will be beneficial to all. The other thread doesn't appear to be regularly updated and doesn't seem to provide any of the newer information.

Glad you like it. The plan is to keep the thread user-friendly, accessible, and have information straight from video footage. There is the "Known Features" thread if you want to find more obscure facts from twitter feeds, random game journalist websites, etc.

Actually in The Next Mass Effect - Known Features Thread is everything that is known to this point. No need for a new thread.

I have read through it. The thread is cumbersome, not user-friendly, and is littered with google documents. It doesn't even address what the developers talked about in context with those images from N7 Day. It's merely the poster's own thoughts, which are less than enlightening. My approach is far more accessible and actually gives real video footage of what BioWare is saying about MENext. If you prefer the other thread, you are more than welcome to follow it.

Good thread, is there any Twitter stuff you can address (ARKON logo, 'never seen salarians look so good' etc.), or are you only posting absolute certainties? Bioware have definitely confirmed the presence of Salarians and Krogan in the next game.

Nah, let's leave that for the Twitter Thread. Speculations! Lots of it :P :D

I'm leaving Twitter speculation to the Twitter thread and any other obscure information to the Known Features thread. This one is specifically for video footage and actual confirmed news straight from BioWare. I want to keep it nice, simple, and accessible.

It's likely all of the known species will return, as BioWare has said it's very possible we will see some old friends from the original trilogy. If BioWare talks more about it in a video, I'll likely update the OP with that information. Otherwise, there are some aspects of ME that we should expect will return in the next game (species, familiar locations, Systems Alliance and Council Government, etc.). This thread is really more built to focus on the new features and systems in the next Mass Effect.
