So horribly conflicted

I started playing DA:I last night on hard, and went with my standard RPG choice of going for the warrior as they generally get the most bad-arse looking armor and murdering things in the face with a big honking weapon can be quite entertaining while looking impressive.  After getting through the character creation bit and through the prequel area to the main camp I've realized that the dude I made looks like well....a bit of a goober.  I think I'm going to have to start over, or I'll be throwing this guy off cliffs to see if I can make his face look less derpy via impacts.

Being an RPG I figured it best to try and keep my party close to the 'holy trinity' of RPGs having one of each class, but now I'm a bit conflicted on what I want to make my new character.  When I'm limited to only having 4 slots in a party, I usually like to roll Heavy Armor tanky type (me usually), Archer, Mage (support/heals) and Mage (DEATH FROM AFAR).  If I do this though, I feel like I might be really limiting my companion choices, although it does look like for companions there are 3 of each class.  As it is from what I've played with my chappy using a 2h weapon, it felt more like he was flubbing people with a wiffle bat than swinging around an instrument of death and destruction.  Given that, I'm a bit more open to options for different classes right now, mostly looking at the mage especially since his one hand looks like it has a built-in bug zapper which would make a lot of sense for a magic user.

Advice? Suggestions?  Am I a gibbon?

Also if anyone could point out which party members are the best for hillarious dialogue and for a person that usually likes to pick the smartass conversation options that would be great. :D

I think I'm partial to two warriors and two ranged if you have a melee rogue it can get crowded trying to hit someone but I like the damage that they do so I still use them.  So 2 warriors and melee rogue and a Mage that is if I'm playing a Warrior.  If I'm playing Archer I could get by with one Sword and Shield Warrior.

So yeah I would definitely keep remaking your character until you're satisfied with his/her appearance since you'll be looking at yourself for the next 80 hours haha.

As to class, I think you should pick whichever you like best and not base it on companions.  For one, as you said, there's 9 companions and 3 of each type and you have four people in your party...so you're going to be doubling up on something and there's bound to be at least 1 from each type among your companions that you like.

Also, there are "respec" items that you can buy fairly cheaply, the first one is free, subsequent ones are like 300-ish gold which isn't that high.  And these can be applied to both yourself and your companions.  So if you go 2 hand warrior, you're not locked into that, you could always switch over to sword and board.  Same with any of your companions.

As to which party members that are best for hilarious dialogue, it should be obvious once you meet them, Sera and Iron Bull are good, but any of the combos can be good.  In fact it's probably worth it to switch around a lot just so you keep hearing new things.

I've read good things about going mage, and being a knight enchanter.  Does the KE get to wear the full plate super awesome looking armor as well? or am I stuck with being a warrior if I want all the nifty non-pyjama looking gear?

That's actually the exact set up I'm rolling on Nightmare at the moment. Me (Champion), Sera/Varric, Dorian, Solas. You could switch Solas and Viv as the support choices easily.
