Eh, I went with the English accent for the male and sometimes I wish I went with the American one. Voice seems really nasal and the inflection is hit-or-miss. As someone else said earlier, he can get pretty hammy when asking questions.

Yeah that's what I thought tooI like the English male voice, though he always sounds so perplexed about mundane things. Every Inspect question just has this absolutely baffled tone.

I like both female voices, though I've only gone through the intro with female characters so far.
I prefer British male to American male, but feel like both have their strengths and weaknesses. For example, British male tends to sound confused, and the American male tends to sound like a space marine... too flat. At the same time, British male sounds clever and the American male sounds powerful when they work.

Not gonna lie, Sumalee Montano's (American Female) voice is downright sexy.
The way she says her flirty lines gives me life.

I decided my first playthrough would be with a female character the moment I read Alix was one of the voices.

That's a good way to put it actually. I also found the British Male does emotion really well. Like he genuinely sounded broken after he heard about the tragedy at the Temple of Sacred Ashes and I chose the Sad option.

I'm glad my game bugged out and switched to a British voice when I reached skyhold

Used the American voice for my main Qunari Dudequisitor, I love it. I think the delivery of all the Inquisitor voice options is amazing, especially right at the beginning when he/she's overwhelmingly confused - it sounds really genuine, I like the VO for the Inquisitor a lot. British Male Inquisitor sounds a bit overly pompous to me, even as a Brit, but it's still a very well done voice. Samantha Traynor's VA did an excellent job with British Female Inquisitor - afraid to say I haven't actually heard much of the American Femquisitor. In the end, I think the American voices are better suited to Dwarves/Qunari, and the British ones are for Elves/Humans. But thankfully Bioware gave us the option to use either accent for any character.
My favorite? Probably a tie between American male and British female.
All in all I'm very impressed with every aspect of this DA installment, I think when I finally reach the end it will have been an awesome journey

I've liked both male voices I've used. I think I'll choose in future playthroughs based on the character I want to play.
I wanted to play someone who was a bit overwhelmed and out of his element for my first playthrough, so British Male has been perfect. I actually started with American Male, but crashed and lost the save. The only thing I didn't like about it was everytime he spoke I thought I was seeing a human who'd grown up in Orzammar or something. I've just become accustomed to Dwarves having the American accents in this.

I dunno. I'm not very one way or the other about either of the two female voices. I haven't tried the males yet. But I don't think it'll be any different.

I've enjoyed the British female voice, though not as much as my femHawke. Britsh male, likewise, seems a step down from maleHawke. Then the American voices just seem off on anything but a Qunari.
Granted, the difference between the Hawke VA's and the Inquisitor VA's may be the vagueness of the character. Hawke was a pretty determined character with a set history, development and one of three-or-so possible personalities. The Inquisitor, on the other hand, is a bit of a wildcard without any clear, concise direction for the actor to follow. That's probably why so many lines fall flat, for me.
I will say, though, that the British female's VA gave a chilling performance shouting at Solas in the elven native tongue. God, I loved that conversation.

I love Sumalee's voice. So rich and beautiful. I can't wait to hear more of her throughout the game. Just restarted with a new class and haven't gotten far so I am very excited to listen to her voice for the next idk how many hours

Am I the only one who has found Sumalee's acting very underwhelming? She's my Inquisitor's voice, and she's growing on me... When I encountered that famous voice-changing bug I re-loaded a previous save to keep her.
But man... She sounds like a Tranquil to me! Or... amateur-ish? I don't know. Like I say, I'm getting used to her, but I just feel she is not very good compared with pretty much all the other characters.
I don't know if all the Inquisitor voices are this monotone, or if that was done on purpose or what, but there have been numerous times when I've been incredibly engrossed in the story and then snapped violently out of it by the sound of her voice. ![]()
Maybe it's partially me missing my male sarcastic Hawke.

@Mes:
I get the impression that all the voices tend to have less emotion in the lines where you don't choose a specific emotional reaction. I think that's very good, since it's easier to imagine some emotion might be there nonetheless than getting around a more emotional delivery where you don't want it. Hawke had specific personality options, that's why their lines could afford to be more specific.
Also, I find that personality traits in DA2 tended to be overacted, both for Hawke and the NPCs. DAI feels quite a bit more real to me.
All in all, I tried out the two female voices through the prologue, and while I like Alix Wilton Regan's voice better, both come across as very good.

Generally I found the british voices fitting better with human/elves while the maerican ones are better with dwarf/qunari. As for the best voice acting, imo the british female voice. The male counterpart is pretty terrible of what i've seen so far.

American male voice for my warrior. I found the British voice to better suit a mage character.

I think that's what the devs were aiming for. I disagree with what you say about the British male though, I find his voice suits my character very much and his delivery is excellent.

Alix. When she is calm her voice is soft and have that vibrant/raspy about it that I love. As soon as you choose an angry option in the dialogue, her voice changes completely and you can hear she's really angry. A lot of people can't pull that off, instead their voice start to sound shaky, but not hers.

So far I've experienced only American Male VA. It's not the best, but it's pretty decent, in some scenes even really good - for example when delivering the finishing blow in a marvelous bit of The Grand Game
.
I'll probably try out all actors across my playthroughs.
Overall voice acting is really, really good though - especially in cutscenes.

I like the British male voice for my funny human characters. When i try to make him serious it just doesn't sound right or fit, i just can't take it seriously.
The American voice male works for funny and for serious but there are many times when it can just sound flat and like someone else said too much like Shepard.

This is why Alix is my preferred pick too. She shows a great range of emotion with her voice which I felt Sumalee seemed to be lacking because she sounds more monotone. That doesn't mean I won't at least try using Sumalee's voice because I think her voice works better for dwarf or qunari.

I've only played male british so far, I find it okay but not awesome, a lot of lines sound out of place and overacted, almost forcing the accent.
Also meeting male Hawke made me feel like a little boy talking to daddy. Hawke sounds so much more charismatic.

Alix Wilton Regan is amazing. I loved her all my playthrough, then loved her more when I saw videos of fem!elf!Inquisitor's romance scenes with Solas. My god, her acting brought them to life.
I'm only starting the other three, and they're all still in the Hinterlands. So far I really like Jon Curry's tone and emotional range. HHP's deep voice coming from my thin elf is very dissonant, and he tends to sound confused. I like how Sumalee's voice sounds, and she does fantastic flirts, but she sadly sounds rather monotone most of the time.

I chose the male american voice the first time around because the british guy just didn't fit the look or feel of my character. I have no regrets. I thought he did an excellent job!

I'm a sucker for the English voices - and not simply because I'm English myself, but I feel that our accents vs American ones fit better with medieval stuffs... because, well, history..
Plus, I bloomin' love Alix/her voice - I've met her before and she's such a lovely human being, and she signed a picture of Traynor for me that said "... Shower?... Game of chess?" much to the bemusement of my family ![]()
BUT that said, I am excited about starting my second character voiced my Sumalee, because I feel her voice is going to fit perfectly with my snarky/arsey human inquisitor
