Does anyone have any gameplay footage of an Artificer or tried it out yet, deciding between a rift mage and an archer artificer, but haven't been able to see much about gameplay  besides the ability list

How long before traps despawn?

And overall how fun is it

I'd like to second this post. I'm stuck with family for Thanksgiving for a week far away from DAI (the horror!), but when I return I'm very interested in playing as an artificer. But I'd like to hear from people who've tried it out.

Some specific questions:

Do you know if the focus ability (Hail of Arrows) can be used by DW rogues, or is it pretty much limited to archer rogues? If so, does that basically nerf the specialization for DW rogues?

Artificer seems great against mobs with the Spike Trap and Throw Everything abilities. Does that mean that artificers are weak against bosses (thinking about dragons here, mostly)?

On the other hand, Fallback Plan seems like it could be the single best skill against something like a dragon. Drop a fallback point, do as much damage up close as you can, and when the dragon hits you teleport out of danger with health restored. Has anyone tried this ability out?

I decided on Artificer after originally planning on Tempest (purely because of the 'throw all traps' skill for Elemental mines I used in Multiplayer). I play as an Archer and it seemed the better fit of all 3 Rouge specialisations. Those elemental mines have saved me many times as mobs come through my tanks. But also, catches out those stealthy invisible enemy rogues who like to flank. Plus the satisfaction of running up behind my tanks and throwing all the mines in front of them, right on a group of mobs and they all explode in a shower of elemental damage is pure joy.

Cool down for Elemental mines is 24 seconds. Seems an eternity at times, but the key is to do it with full stamina as the 'throw everything' skill increases how many you throw out.

Then when it's time to fight a boss, I use 'Hail of Arrows'. Hit stealth (for 50% bonus damage) then hail of arrows then let loose with Full Draw as your opener. Awesome damage.

FYI Hail of arrows only works with skills from the Archery tree. So not worth it if you are a DW Rogue.

I use the Fallback plan skill in MP, but haven't seen the need for SP as my tanks normally have aggro, if not my traps will be my first line of defence, followed by stealth. Plus I need room in my skill bar for 3 archery skills, to make the best use of Hail of arrows.

I'm glad I went Artificer over Tempest for my Archer.

Hunter in MP is what got me interested in trying out an archer artificer instead of a tempest archer.

Though im still a little torn.....

I do think it's worth noting that the only ability in the tree that requires Archery abilities is the Focus ability. Everything else works just fine with Dual Wield abilities. So a Dual Wield Artificer is perfectly viable. And if you really need to have a Focus ability, you have the Mark of the Rift focus from the Inquisitor tree, so it's not like a Dual Wield Artificer gets shafted on that front.

How far can you throw the mines in Elemental Mines?
Thanks.

They come out in spread bunches around 4-5 "game feet" in front of you.

I've only used this spec on Varric but I think it's fantastic. Other than the obvious trap skills which have been mentioned already, the best part about the spec IMO is the passive that reduces all your cooldowns by .5 sec whenever an ally crits. That, combined with the passives to increase crit chance and damage+status duration for the whole party, can lead to insanely fast cooldown times for yourself and a great boost to the whole party (protip: bring a mage with Energy Barrage and Static Cage and break out the popcorn).

Overall the spec has a unique playstyle that rewards tactical play and party synergy over individual damage and burst mechanics.
