In a risk not to lose my first save, 30 hours, can i start a new one, and still go back to the older save later?? or will it complete delete all the previous saves??

Certainly on PC you can. It segregates your saves by character, so they don't overwrite each other.

Since the PC version is a console port, I am sure you can do it on the console versions too.

Of course you can. It works the same like in the previous DA games. On the PS3, and PS4 most likely, you just press the Square button to cycle between characters.

PC Players and their "console" Jabs..

*blink*  How was that a jab?  They were pointing out that both PC players as well as console players can have multiple saves.

Yes, you can. But the game limits you to 40 saves total on PS4, anyway.I know because I save a lot.  :P

So, 40 characters is the theoretical limit. The game itself will only overwrite auto-saves. You would have to save over or delete your own save to lose a character.

That's a relief, DAO on 360 is limited to an abysmal 10 slot (and each DLC with the same character took another slot, 4 slot for going to the end of witchhunt). Something they never cared to patch, despite the evolution of hard drives over the time...

Save limits are an abomination. That alone is enough to keep me a PC gamer.

Console players are like Canadians with their perpetual inferiority complex (though in a console player's case, its true).

(THAT is a proper jab at console players)

PC is limited to 250 saves across all characters. I hit the cap earlier on one character, also worth keeping in mind auto-saves don't overwrite each other but do seem to to away after a certain number (3 or 5 or something). Quick-saves overwrite each other though.

Hey man, it's only 2014.  Get out of here with your space-man futuristic data storage expectations!

Even then, if they're still segregated, you'd have to manually go and delete a save from another character to free up slots.  So it's safe to go ahead.

Don't know why you need that much.  I usually roll with 5-6 files, and then only when I get to a tricky area or plot twist; if I'm in the Hinterlands for 5 hours, I just roll over the same.

By the gods, WHY?

That's a terrible design. I like to keep all my saves forever, and if I like the game I'll play it for 10 years.

Hopefully I can make space by moving the save files.

Wait a minute, 40 saves total, across all characters ? Thats less than the number on saves we had on 360, seriously ?

Are you able to pickup a save from a decade ago?? If I abandon a game for 6 months, I'm screwed.  I have to start over; it's why I never finished Kingdom of Amalur, life caught up to me, and when I went back... meh.  With 200+ hours of content, it's tough to start over again.

Well, just go to your Documents - Bioware - Dragon Age Inquisition - Saves and move them to another folder on your harddrive and you can save them all. The only problem is in the game the only saves that will appear are the ones in the specified folder. But thats a minor issue, you can have as many saves as you want. Just make sure you label your folders in a way you can easily navigate later because besides a timestamp there is no way to see which save is which outside of the game.

That's not why I have them, though if I do want to resume (and for a game like BG which I know so well, that can work), examining several saves for that character will remind me of his personality.

I remember ending up with something like 12gb of Witcher 1 saves from one playthrough. Always be F5ing.
