I am going to craft a Warden Battlemage armor set for my mage, and I have this Masterwork:

 

Fade-Touched Highever Weave

Ability: On kill, +20 to Magic for 10 seconds.

 

A pretty powerful ability, but do I use it now or save it for a better armor later in the game?

It's up to you really, I haven't really had much luck with crafting, I always make things that I think are good, then I find some purple item that destroys it.

You might as well use it now. I kept putting off using my rare materials and ended with a bank full of rare materials.

This is what I am thinking.  Who knows what other masterworks I might find later?  But then it would suck to use this masterwork, then find a better armor schematic literally right after...ugh.

 

Depends on just what stage of the game you're at, and just how much you need to use it. I, for example, have only just reached the Inquisition's fortress, at level 10. That means I have at the very least 8 levels to go through before reaching any sort of milestone (the boss is 18 iirc). At that point, I wouldn't really use any Masterwork unless I felt I absolutely needed to in order to not be frustrated with the amount of effort I'd have to go through in order to make progress.

 

Keeping in mind I play on Nightmare, of course.

 

Yeah, I know I would be upset if I used it now and then find better armor/schematics later where it would have been better.  But I also don't want to finish the game with a bunch of unused items that could have given me better armor/stats.
