I'm sure it has to do with approval rating and I think his is high enough (not like I can check), so I wondering how to trigger it? I got it on my first 2 hour playthrough before I deleted and started over, but now I haven't gotten it and I'm almost finished with the game. I have no more dialogue options with him when I visit him in Skyhold and I'm pretty sure I've activated at least one of those orb things with him there.

I get Solas' approval whenever he's around and I set off those little orb thingies, but I've never gotten a quest for it and I never knew it was his personal quest. This is disappointing to find out because I would really like to get all the companion quests on the first playthrough.

Here is the information that I have on Solas. The quests are related to his approval, so check out his approval choices. If you find more details, please help add to the page or tell me here and I'll add it :)

Thank you! But now I'm wondering what triggers lead to his tarot card changing? I have everyone's changed except his and I don't want to finish the game until he's been completed.

Apparently, from what I am reading in the forums, the tarot cards change based on completion of the character quests, so if you havent completed it then maybe that's the reason?

I'm having trouble getting this to trigger.  The problem is, I know I can trigger it, because it did trigger.  I did the whole dream thing and got him to offer the quest.  Then I went to talk to Varric and screwed up my Hawke customization and decided to reload. I reloaded a save from just after waking up from the dream.  Now he won't trigger the quest. I've done several orb thingers to get his approval up, but every time I go talk to him my only options are to talk about Corypheus or say good bye.  Mind you the Corypheus talk is the same every time.  I'm wondering if I should keep going or and hope he'll eventually offer the quest or just continue along with the game offering my affections to someone else.

I've been having the exact same problem too, Chbimun. I'm on the last main quest and his only dialogue option is still only about Corypheus, no Inner Circle quest at all. I'm worried the whole save is screwed up. Sucks, too, I have almost everything done EXCEPT for Solas' companion quest.

I have this same issue.

Same here. Is it tied to approval, or? He greets me by saying "Inquisitor", if that's any indication.

I don't think it's tied to approval.  I'm pretty sure that by the time got to the Temple I had Solas's approval maxed because events that I knew would gain his approval (like the fade orb thingers) weren't getting him additional approval.  Whatever isn't getting the quest to fire I think also prevented Cass's and Dorian's from firing their second quests as well.  Got everyone else's complete.

Found the solution.
I'm pretty sure it's either tied to approval or how much you've talked to him (which in most cases raises his approval). Solas is a clever dude who loves talking, so make sure you go through at least a big part of his dialogue options!
Asking him about everything he knows about the fade seems to be essential. He says some interesting stuff so it's totally worth it.
Hope this helps someone.

The thing is, with my game it triggered right after I got to Skyhold after the Fade dream with him.  Then I had to reload from an autosave right after you get back from the Fade dream because I messed up my Hawke's face in the customization and whatnot.  Even though I changed nothing from after waking from the Fade dream the quest refused to trigger.  So I had the approval to trigger it initially prior to loading up the autosave.  Something from reloading from an autosave bugged it where it wouldn't trigger and despite maxing my approval with Solas to the point where choices made don't raise approval any further because it's at its maximum value, the quest *still* won't trigger.

Oh... that sucks since I doubt there's any fix for that (not that I know anything). Lame :/

His personal quest is bugged.  After you activate the first of the Elven Artifacts with him you're supposed to get another quest "All New, Faded For Her" to activate 10 more.  But the quest doesn't trigger.  I only know about it because it's in the Prima guide.

Not surprised at all that BioFail didn't fix this (and any other quest bugs) in today's patch.

I reloaded from an actual save rather than an autosave and the quest triggered as it did the first time, but now I'm debating if I should finish that playthru again or just continue with a different one.

Please could someone clarify about the Solas companion quest.   Is there more than one?    You see I had one romance interlude in the Fade shortly after getting to Skyhold, then his companion quest in Exalted Plains, then 2nd romance interlude.    I'm all talked out with him now, just keep getting Corypheus or nothing and we've got a fair way along the main plot.   Other companions have something to say about events but Solas has nothing.        I didn't know those orb things were a specific quest, we just keep chancing on them by accident and they don't appear as a quest in my journal.  How many are there?    So is this a bug?   Am I never going to get any further in my relationship with Solas because of it?     This is my first run through so everything is guesswork.

Has anyone found the solution to this problem?

In my 2nd playthrough created an elf!quisitor only to romance Solas. I chose every answer I knew would raise his approval, so I am pretty sure that's not the issue. In Haven I exhausted every dialogue option, so that in the end only "Goodbye" was available. After arriving at Skyhold my only option is "Tell me more about Corypheus" which I have already gone through. No cut scene, no Fade dream, no personal quests. I have been going around triggering these elven artifacts to raise his approval but nothing happens.

Can anyone provide any solid help? Should I delete the game and start over or is it something that can be resolved?

I don't have a elven inquisitor but I know there're two dialogue options after Haven; Tell me more about yourself, Tell me more about Corypheus. The first one always trigger the dream Haven. Have you tried repairing the game?

I always make a save just before meeting the rest of the survivors of Haven at the mountain pass. If anything goes wrong, I'd repair and load that save. So far, I don't have a single problem.

Once you activate enough orbs, you get a war table mission to measure the veil. That then leads to the final of Solas's quests.
