Throwing this out there partly for the utility of the question.

The best I've found so far is a Masterwork Serrated Greatsword, can get up 280 (pretty sure that's accurate, but my numbers might be off in either direction) with Dragon Bone as the base metal. 

 

Anyone know of anything as good or better?

 

And, does anyone know if there's anywhere that sells the secondary items you need to craft runes? Things like venom glands and elemental essence?

Or is the only recourse to go out and rip those materials from the bodies of dead demons and wildlife?

I found a 2h tier 3 axe schematic. it was either in emprise de lion in the keep or the hissing wastes the merchant with the dog, either way i got it up to 297 dps with tier 3 metals (not dragonbone) but i seen a picture somewhere and they had 300+ dps

I got the anderfels cleaver.. thing.. the axe from DA:2 in a war table fereldan side mission, tier 3, it's raw damage is about 20 higher than the superior greatsword of the dragon, with dragon bone I got it close to 350 damage.. I think.. I'll upload an image and verify my claims when I get back to the desktop.

Are there any other Greatsword schematics? What about the Refined Greatsword, that looks pretty cool. Wouldn't mind having one.

 

I have Masterwork Engraved Greatsword and Masterwork Serrated Greatsword. Although Engraved is lower tier i greatly prefer the look of the blade to Serrated.

I also got the same one, I'm pretty sure it's the best one yet

 

Though i just put a master corrupting rune on Sulevin blade and it raised the dps up to 345, but the stats on it arent awesome it's still beastly

I cannot remember where I picked it up from but the best I have found is the Serated greatsword. I think it was in the Hissing Wastes but not 100%.

 

I would probably use a Superb Frost Rune as opposed to this but I wanted to see how high I could get the DPS figure

Really wish Bioware would make a schematic for every weapon model, I want to be able to craft a T3 version of the Refined Greatsword.

I've found a tier-3 Firm Greatsword schematic in Cradle of Sulevin, a random chest item.

 

I found out that I could duplicate my intense fire essence by using the method exploited on the internet. Put the materials in your valuables. Go to a store. Hit sell and then sell all at the same time. You get double of what you sell at once. Why not take advantage of this exploit? It's too much trouble the other way around.

(Altough it's stats are not that good )

It depends on what you're looking for.  There are a number of high-end schematics that do the exact same damage.  Their differences are in the types of materials used to craft them.  Compare these two schematics, for example.

 

Masterwork Serrated Greatsword [215-289 DPS]

Damage: 22 Metal

Utility: 8 Metal

Utility: 6 Metal

Offense: 6 Metal

Masterwork: 1 Masterwork

 

Utility slots are used to add strength or constitution.  Offense slots are used to add combat modifiers.

 

Hossberg Twainer [215-289 DPS]

Damage: 22 Metal

Offense: 6 Cloth

Offense: 6 Cloth

Offense: 6 Metal

Masterwork: 1 Masterwork

 

The Hossberg Twainer is what I use.  It's bought from Emprise Du Lion.  It uses cloth instead of metal, but many tier 3 cloths provide the same bonuses as tier 3 metals.  It's advantage is that it has three offense slots.  I used this schematic to craft the following axe.  Its stats include the haft and pommel I attached to it, as well as the rune.

 

Dwarven Pride [374 DPS]

281 AoE Damage

+50 AoE Damage vs. Corrupted

+45% Attack

+25% Flanking Damage Bonus

+6 Strength

 

I use that axe, plus an Enhanced Whirlwind Ring and a Superior Ring of Flanking to basically make mince meat out of mobs.  Blackwall taunts them and I do further damage against them.  I blow my horns to further increase my damage.  It's nice.

Still looking for that Refined Greatsword schematic... by far the coolest looking. Kinda reminds of Flamberge swords except not actually undulated (which makes it look even cooler!)

 

Anyone come accross that one yet. I'd like to at least know if there IS a schematic for it.

technically it's not a schematic but since I'm also using this weapon, I was going to say the same.

This weapon is terrific. I still haven't equipped it with a rune, I'm hesitating between the Superbe Dragon and the Super Demon slaying-rune.

 Agreed. If you stack +% attack in every slot and also for your grip/etc then Hossberg is slightly ahead of Sulevin Blade and all other crafted weapons.

 Does the heavy attack rating focus beat out the Ornate battle axe which can be built for crit rating and crit damage?
