Well, its was obvious this game wasn't designed for the pc, and I for one saw the video of the 2 guys on a pc trying to play this game on PC as they showed them using a mouse and keyboard - should of been a warning there..:).    If you look at the video they were able to take the tactical view out further,  But, they did play either as a mage or archer.. sword/shield and 2handed guys are just wasn't shown.   I'm a PC players and the combat system needs help in a major why,  No since of were the battle is or direction its coming from when your within melee range I felt like my screen was cut in 1/2 trying to get a clear idea what was going on in the battle.

My number one issue with the melee combat system is your lack of movement to get that said "flanking" shot on your target, How do you do that when you disable movement? its like I'm fighting in mud or tar pit.   You look at your abilities and you obviously have some ability for attacking on the rear but you can't get there to do it.

The 2-handed guy is so unbalanced, Why even use it, when using a shield give you better protection and blocking..  Here's the kicker, when the enemy use a 2handed weapon you feel it - You're hit for huge amount of damage, not take that same weapon and give it to you and its like you're using a normal sword.

The AI/NPC Scripting is as deadly as the monsters, they do stupid sh*t that can wipe your party., There need to be an ability to keep them at range, there is no way a mage should get to within melee combat,  There need to be a 2nd set of commands or behaviors for range combat back and switching to melee combat if checked then back again.,    In other words, why can't my Ranger guy have bow and dagger ?  you know the enemy is going to close on him as fast as possible since he's to stupid to stay at range, NOW, if you watch the monster's archers they will move back and out of range to continue to use their bow., So, what happen with npc for us.

I'm totally confused on the whole 3 potion slots, when the NPC's only use slot 1 if its filled with a Healing potion. Any other potion/buff will just be a place holder until

I switch control to them and use it manually.  (really bioware).

Also, animals in this game must be on steroids, when ever you attack them they move like they're demons from hell, can go upside mountains like spiders.. too silly.

Closing rift can be a challenge on pc, as sometimes the Rift is too high and out of view range and you have to run around the screen until you can get a view on it...

The inventory could use some work, as why not take the items your char has equipped out of the inventory and just place them on the character to view?

I agree with your post; just a mini-tip to maybe help you a little (not mine, picked it up somewhere on this forum!):

Make more use of the 'F' key. It made things a lot easier for me.

- Stand somewhere close to a lootable object, 'F' --> fast pick-up

- Stand somewhere close to the rift, 'F' --> close rift

... 'F' is my new bestest friend ever.

Really?

This game is amazing even with the bugs. Oh well, each his own I guess.

I too look forward to the patch, but the bugs, tactical cam are nowhere near destroying my experience. I keep getting impressed the further I delve.

??? This game isn't even close to amazing in its current state and I agree with the current metacritic overall user score of 5.5. It doesn't deserve anything higher than that in its current state. The entire game is one big frustration in combat. There is practically 0 meaningful side-content in this game compared to origins or da2, It's nothing but empty grinding mmo-filler missions. This multiplayer component was a complete waste of development time.

I respect your opinion, but amazing? Not even close.

@OP I have also opted to stop playing until a patch on PC. The controls, the u.i, the tactical cam having no tilt when zoomed, the camera-snaps, getting stuck on literally every object in the world including small rocks, its a complete frustration to play this game in this state and I can't do it either until 1 or 2 patches comes out.

Professional reviewers need to get through as much of the game in as quick a time as possible to do a decent review without missing the window. So the vast majority play on "Normal". I think one reviewer confessed that they played on "Easy" and plans on playing another run on "Hard" on their own time.

If you play on Normal/Easy, you don't need the tactical view and it doesn't matter what class you play since the game isn't that hard.. even with a DW rogue.

Yep, I understand Normal does not truly need Tact-Cam. (I made a slight mention of this initially in my comment by saying the game is just too EASY on norm.)

To me, DA Origins made Norm feel like Hard mode. Eventually, i had to put DA origins on Hard once i understood my role and my combos etc.

Anywayz, DA Inquisition, enemies seem to melt on Norm in this game. Hard is necessary, but Tact-cam is just FUNKY. Zoom-in/Zoom-out is an illusion because the game limits how far you can zoom-out and see the surroundings.

Gahhhh, these minor annoyances completely ruin my experience and it makes me sad man!!!! I want to enjoy my adventure as my DW rogue!

well still no PC UI patch but I decided to start playing again last week since I has some more free time. It took awhile but now I am into the game. I got used to the crappy PC UI to where I can tolerate it and I'm familiar with the overall game mechanics where I feel comfortable. Despite the limitations, I still use tactical view a lot to control my DW rogue, and it isn't too bad now, though I don't micro-manage the other companions as much as I originally intended.

I'm now pretty into the game (meaning I'm having a good time). Over 40 hours of playthrough now. I'd say it took me almost 20 hours in to really get into the game. I'm a very slow and methodical player, I always take longer than most, especially for "open-world" types games (I spent over 160 hours in Fallout 3 in one playthrough). I need to back off for awhile again because of time issue but I get more free time in a month or so. Maybe by then there will be another patch?
