Some of us are having trouble finding this master of steath noble in Sera's quest. People are reporting that they have trouble finding him and got "stuck" in the area.

I can confirm this bug as well. Ran pass the bandits, lead them all over the place without fighting them and I cant find the npc. I can only see the subtitles when the fight is over but not hear him. Sera then say "Dont listen to him" and I am stuck there.

This I would consider as a game breaking bug Bioware. It is a "COMPANION QUEST" not one of those hundreds of minor sub quests, a cut scene should be a REQUIREMENT for the exchange after the fight.

If you had given more priority and attention to companion quests, which is the main reason most of us enjoy your game, you would not and should not have cut corners and provide us a proper cut scene for the conversation after the fight and this glitch would not exists.

Yeah. Total game breaker. I'm stuck there. Nothing happened at all after the fight, ran around a while trying to find a way out, eventually tried fast travel out and couldn't get to the world map. No biggie right. I'll just reload my auto save but for some reason, just because... I don't know, the game's broken as Hell on PC... my nearest auto save is 2 hours of play ago. Not as angry as the other guy that posted but... really? my feelings guys. I'm gonna cry myself to sleep tonight.

I eventually found him after running around the damn place like 3 times. He needs to either be moved to the middle of the road or get a quest marker

Are you sure he isn't spawning?  When I did the quest I was thrown off for a second or two because it doesn't show you where he is, and where his voice sounds like it's coming from can be misleading - but I found him easily enough.  He should be off in the distance; if you were to continue following the trail you should see him.

Yeah, this is something that should probably be looked at and improved upon - but just give it another look; he might actually be there.  If the fight hadn't have taken me so far down the trail, I might not have noticed him at first either.

He's a static NPC. Like the way the companions can vanish in Skyhold until you save and reload while standing in direct line of sight to them.

The fact he's standing in the shadow of the wall's post on a dark night, wearing brown clothing that blends in with the stone, does NOT help.

By design?

No, it's pretty clearly a bug. NPC companions in Skyhold aren't the only things that 'disappear' when in line of sight of them, until a reload. Fade rifts do this too; they'll be visibly present in their inactive state, but you can't DO anything to them. The Mark doesn't work, the Fade rift doesn't open, demons don't show up. It's just a green glowing thing in the air.

Until you reload while standing where your character can see it. THEN the Fade rift suddenly goes active.

It's definitely a bug.

The NPC standing in a spot where he's deliberately obscured? That's a design decision. The developers put him there in order to annoy and frustrate.

Having problem with this quest too. Quest is marked completed but I'm still in the drop-point location.  No NPC. Reloaded multiple times.  Can't travel anywhere.

-----edited-----

Found another post that solved the issue, npc finally appeared when i only took Sera with me and no other companion.

The imagined expression of a Bioware developer unfortunate enough to read certain responses after working 3+ years on a game with ludicrious 'playtime' and 5 platforms + a new engine.

But the customer is always right.

(PS.: It will get fixed. Probably.)

Yeah, I had to do the same thing.  It was just me and Sera.  Then the noble appeared where he was supposed to.

Also, Patch 3 is supposed to be doing quest fixes.  I've heard that they are focusing on the bugged companion quests and the bugged out War Table missions.  For example, did you guys know that Solas has a third personal quest that won't trigger no matter what you do?

He's standing against a post, It's a little difficult to notice him standing there where you are attacked by his lackeys
