Wow, I did not expect these guys. I know Samson from DA2. How did he get to this point? I have no clue who Calpurnia is and her history...Any insight?

Calpurnia iwas a slave from Tevinter who wants to reform Tevinter and leader of the Venatori.

There is a quest involving Calpurnia where you learn about her background and history. Rather interesting, it makes her far more interesting of a villian then cory IMO

Also being able to create a rift between the two and taking advantage of it was great. Completely optional but worth it.

Yeah, it was pretty crazy when I found out about Samson. Is Calpurnia in the books or anything? At first I automatically thought the leaders were the same leaders of the mage rebellion or the templar rebellion. It might have tide things together better if they did it that way, but oh well. I'm not far enough in the game now, but it'll be interesting to see what happens with the later characters, hope something is said.

No, she's a new character. Her background is explored though. I personally prefer her and her cult being Corys main army. Another reason I prefer siding with the templars.

Is Calpurnia the boss of The Temple of Mythal in Samson's place if you sided with the templars, or is Samson always the boss? If not, where else does she appear in the story aside from her appearance during [spoiler]the attack on Haven? I didn't see her once in my mage-side play through.

Fiona is the boss at Haven and Calpurnia is the boss at the temple of Mythal, however if you do her quest you can use the rift you created to turn her against Cory thus no boss battle . Samson never shows up if you saved the Templars.

I get that Samson was probably killed in battle if you recruit the Templars, but I'm not sure where Calpurnia disappears to if you recruit the mages. Did Leliana's agents knife her when infiltrating the castle or something?
