My girlfriend just got 3 pieces after defeating the Hinterlands dragon. It was in a boat she looted. Malachite can't be "mined" apparently. It will be in loot caches.

that sucks.. I killed that dragon and sold the malachite before I ever got to the plains.

Crap like THIS is what I put in my chest in Origins... so I could do the quests and not have to worry about not having bagspace in the field... since they 'in their wisdom' figured they would remove chests (even though I have a HUGE FORTRESS and TONS of space in my room) I can't hold on to crap that I know might come in handy later.

Same here, apparently. Problem is, I have no idea what Merchant I sold it to.
And they didn't make merchants hang on to quest items like that, so although I've visited every damn merchant on the map, the one I sold it to doesn't have it, and no one else seems to, either.
It's been said it's a loot drop item, which makes sense since you need more of that item (4) than you wil first find (3) but I have yet to see a single one in a drop. Maybe selling the first three has something to do with that.
Bad move, Bioware, now quests can't be finished.

Yeah, after I found a Requisition Order requiring a 'Fereldan Medal of Service,' I've stopped vendoring those. The whole 'valuables not necessarily being junk' thing still throws me off. At least most of the Requisitions I get from the camps are still field tents, salvage ships, and mineral surveys.

Can someone from Bioware advise where I can locate Malachite? see it was classified as a valuable and I mist likely sold them in game early, however after checking Skyhold, Hinterlands I can't locate them either as a Valuable for sale or the ability to purchase back.
Can these be purcased anywhere in DAI if all loot locations have been raided?

Malachite only drops from enemies. One of the Val Royeaux merchants sells valuables, maybe he has some in stock, but I doubt it.

My guess is that this is a bug and it is actually intended to be asking for minable minerals.
It just is too much of an exception to all the other loot- or gather quests.
And because the quest updater reacts to gathering minerals found in that area (opens the widget), it just doesn't count towards the quest.

I don't believe you can put valuables into the storage chest at Skyhold. At least I couldn't. It's limited to armor, weapons, accessories and upgrades.

There are quite a few requisitions that need valuable drops to proceed. In the Fallow Mire you need Ferelden Medals of Service or Diseased Tissue to complete one, the Hinterlands Inquisition tapestry one needs Decorative Gems, there are some in the Emerald graves that need Orlesian or elven culture related items, and in the Hissing Waste you need four different types of dwarven artifacts for one.

I only do one or two requisitions in each area, before moving on. Otherwise, I end up with "get x from y enemy", and by then, there are none left. ![]()
And I'm stuck with an unfinished quest until the end of time.
Malachite, though... I don't recall ever seeing a requisition for that. I'd say maybe just don't worry about it for a while. That's one of those things that you can get from any enemy, anywhere. I sell a ton of those in the average playthrough. They'll turn up sooner or later.

It's the "Ceremonial Burial Armor" requisition and I've gotten it in every playthrough. But the only place I've gotten malachite is from the chest in aboat behind the Hinterlands dragon. Never as a drop from an enemies, though, so it's not a sure thing by far.

Wow, I have never gotten that requisition.
I probably just assumed enemies, because that's one of those things I don't even bother looking at, when picking it up, or before selling. Oopsie.
Well, according to this wiki, it says you can get it in the Hissing Wastes "from corpses and chests". So, crapshoot. Good luck to you!

But they drop specifically from the enemies in that area. This is clearly as per design.
The malachite? It's not specific.

That boat always seems to have some malachite. I have gotten malachite as random loot a few times as well, though it is rare.

Yeah, that is why I always leave something in that chest, so I can go and get more malachite later on if I need any.

Just say no to requisitions. Worse than drugs I tell you.... and the requisition officer... worse than any dealer ... ever.

It's extraordinarily frustrating how they design drops.
It's like if you pick up a 'dropped' requisition around the right level, you'll never have enough- I have so much ventori crap it;s unbelievable. I was getting drops in different freaking zones.
On the other hand, I got the Ferelden locks drop requisition pretty late. I've scoured the Hinterlands- in fact, I just finished my second complete playthrough and all I have left in game is mosiacs. ONE region in Crestwood to be explored, and astraniums or w/e. I have gotten three locks my entire game. I have got NOTHING on Orlesian drops. It's really starting to ****** me off.

I feel your pain. At the end of my first and second run, i still had stuff I couldn't finish. I had to let it go, finally, so I could move on!
I only do a couple of requisitions in each area, to try to keep that to a minimum. Some of them can take from the moment you get there, until the moment you clear, to get whatever material you're missing. I almost wish you could abandon requisitions, and take something else instead.
Or...maybe they could have had a list of available requisitions at each camp, and you could pick and choose what you wanted to do.
Le sigh.

One of the three dragons in Emprise du Lion drops three malachite. I think it's Kaltenzahn.
I've experienced this a couple of times.

Is there any point to doing these requisitions other than the expendable point of power they give? Skip the requisition quests, you will be happier for it.

With the requisitions I don't mind them, however once you have completed everything from that zone, there shouldn't be any more requests I don't mind the find x and y approach however when it gets down to finding a specific material and it is no where to be found this is when bioware should have the option of purchasing from a vendor.
Having repeats for the sake of Power (300+) and counting how much is way to much? I would give up Power to complete the Malachite REQ.
