I get a requisition from an area and hold on to it until I know I am through with that area before finishing it. That way I am not bothered by them MAT sucking vampires.

that sucks.. I killed that dragon and sold the malachite before I ever got to the plains.
Why would anyone sell resources? I never sell anything! Not even the 200+ iron I'll never use.

Malachite isn't a resource (i.e. it isn't used for crafting). It is a "valuable" which many people just sell outright.
